Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not sure, but what makes you comment on the Wake post-interview rejection? Have you heard of many others getting the axe?

ya you're the only person i've heard of to get a post-interview rejection so far, i wonder if there are more?

p.s. if i had to pick another invite . . . maybe vermont or miami. i have one interview in my town, one out of town but still reasonably nearby, now i need one thats really far away.

nice choices! I would have said Vermont before I got ANY invites... but the one I would be happy with in my situation now is UM 🙂

yea i bet there are a lot of schools that just waitlist everyone they like and try to pick it out bit by bit so they dont over accept. i think temple does this

yessssssss. they passed over my complete date..so now i'm just hoping i'll eventually get one. 🙁

Hey now! You've had Yale and Harvard interviews. Share the ivy love with others. 😛

as of yesterday...

1. UT Southwestern
2. UT Houston
3. Dartmouth
4. SUNY Upstate
5. NYMC
6. SUNY Downstate

i want to be a texan so bad...

👎

UVa is that good?

I have my reservations about it. But overall, excellent place!

interesting that you liked nymc better than downstate! so different than my experience.

i'm going to rank mine now (since i've only been to 3 interviews) and we'll see if the rankings change... which i'm sure they will.

1. mt sinai
2. harvard
3. downstate
3. umass
5. BU
6. cornell
7. NYU
8. einstein
9. nymc

Haha, we're ranking pre-interview now??

I'll rank my interviews coming up.

1. JHU
2. Emory
3. LSU-S

Probably not going to 2 or 3 if I get an acceptance though.

Spurs, since Baylor doesn't have a second look, I think me and ksmi (if she wants) should just come hang out with you to see stuff. I didn't know that. 🙁

So I totally want to leave Louisiana after today's weather. :dying:
Unfortunately, Houston isn't any better.

We should totally crash at Spursy place. I know where it is and everything. And yes, the weather today sucks ***. And I have practice in 30 minutes. 🙁

Because they don't know how to appropriately screen?

And their interviewers are hit/miss?

More like EVIL!

some ppl havent reported it on SDN but if you look on mdapps, you will see a trend

I'm equal opportunity. Not just going to post the good news to build myself up. I'm all about getting knocked off the high horse...to a degree. 😉

Agreed. Doesn't make SDN a very good resource for dates next year if no one reports bad things.

But you'll get in for sure. You would help their rankings go up with your scores!

😉

What a great reason to get into a school. 🙄

And off to practice. Don't have too much fun without me. weather.com says the heat index is 97 degrees today. What fun. I'll be back after practice if I don't die from heat stroke first.

:hello:

It shouldn't be like this... It's freaking October!!! What happened to my beautiful weekend in Nashville...

🙁

Yeah, it's 52 here right now with 30+mph winds.

I miss long summers.

haha. my parents are a lawyer and a writer... i'll be the first physician on either side of my family ever.

Me too. My family is all business people. I kind of am too, but I'm the only one with a healthcare science bend.

I want to marry whomever I fall in love with, be it a doctor, journalist, or anything else. 😀
I have a strict set of criteria😀

huh, interesting that you have downstate/umass above the "big name" schools like cornell and nyu. it'll be fun to see how this original ranking changes once you actually see everywhere...although i seriously doubt that #9 is going to move up at all😛

I kicked most big names off my list pretty quick. It's weird how interviewing/seeing some of these places can change one's opinion of them.

Congrats!

yoda did you go to the school with the best financial aid offer (thats what i would do)

Yup. 100% money decision. It did end up being somewhere that was pretty high up on my list of places I liked though, so that was good.

i'm not gonna lie, my decision won't be 100% money based, but it will be a big factor for me. luckily i loved my state schools! (why can't i stop talking about them?)

my parents barely speak english, let alone get higher education lol

:hello:

The weather in Georgia is so fickle. It was in the 80's and 90's until a week or two ago. Oh yeah, and we randomly had torrential rainfall that caused a bunch of floods. We're finally settling into fall weather.

Not 100 percent for me, either, but I think it will be very hard to "pay up" more than, say, $10 to $15k a year (or max $60k) for a so-called "dream" school over my instate public(s)...I may change my mind, but I haven't yet attended an OOS or private school interview I would choose over my state schools even at the same price tag, much less at a premium price.

where are they from? and yeah, my mom was the first on her side of the family to go to college (she graduated when i was 7)

egh, ill get rejected from everywhere but if i had the ability to choose:

Pitt PSTP (full funded 5 year program, stipend 5th year)
CCLCM (fully funded 5 year program, no stipend 5th)
MSTP progs with the lowest cost of living
State School/cheapest school/Duke (can pay some loans back 3rd year)
schools that i like at price X
schools that i don't like at price x
schools that i liked at price y
schools that i didnt like at price y or above

where x is less than y obviously. lets give a range of 5 grand for both x and y

I'm like staying the hell away from those "if I get accepted", "schools I expect to hear from 10/15" threads. Don't want to jinx myself.

That's really cool.

I'm going to be the first person on my dad's side of the family to graduate college. If it wasn't for the fact that my dad's parents want to see me graduate so badly, I probably wouldn't walk.

Did the SDN folks ever announce the names of the mascots?

italy.. im the first person out of anyone in my family to graduate high school

Sheesh, everyone's so superstitious. You've been on like 1234565664234 interviews! There is still a good bit of territory between arrogance and realism. Statistics, people.

alright, i guess ill just get waitlisted at everywhere and not get in eventually..
