Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
both of my parents were born in frosinone, italy... its in lazio (same citystate as Rome)

Speak of the devil... former president of italy

yea that was a pretty interesting read. Italy is a place that I would go if i had the money and i was accepted to med school. Maybe start in stockholm (ikea) and work my way down to Cairo

dont sleep on the single women that peruse (bad word usage) the rather inexpensive furniture at ikea

speaking of italy, i really want to indulge in the never ending pasta special at olive garden. 8.95 for all the pasta, breadsticks, and salad. good deal

Um, thanks, I think...

😛

haha i wasn't meaning anything bad towards you!! more just I didn't know that wake rejected lots of people post interview. I'm sure you'll get tons of acceptances though and wake won't even be on your mind-i mean, you're smart enough to marry a hokie so you've got to be pretty awesome🙂

Congrats!

thanks!

Yup. 100% money decision. It did end up being somewhere that was pretty high up on my list of places I liked though, so that was good.

I don't think my decision will be completely money based, but it'll definitely be a factor. Considering all my schools so far are ~70k total and i don't have an in-state option yet at least, I don't think it makes much difference where I go (and I'm not anticipating getting any sort of scholarship or anything).

italy.. im the first person out of anyone in my family to graduate high school

wow you rock! that's impressive that you're going to graduate medical school after being the first in your fam to even graduate high school👍

struck that ****er out.

game 1. philly.

if we are winning at home we should get them in colorado

oh thats pretty cool. have you been to Stockholm? I heard the nightlife is pretty good in N Europe but that alcohol tax is pretty high

if ppl are coming to philly to interview, come late Oct (27-31). the riot and the following world series parade is pretty sick

Ahh la mia famiglia lo non parlano ma ho seguito il corso all'università per tre semestre.

che fantastico... non posso parlare italiano piu formale/correcto, Io Uso piu dialetto ma io comprendo quando personi parlano a mio

lol i took like 8 semesters of french and got nothing out of that ****.

besides being introduced to their music of course

Are any of you guys fluent in other languages? The French I know is very basic.

Holy post-padding, Batman! 😱

so i applied to wash u on the 27th for kicks. told my premed committee to send my letter packet there asap. gave them the name and said just to email the packet pdf, and provided the email address. easy as pie.

i send a reminder email today. the response was "i sent the packet to university of washington in seattle. is that the correct school?"

umm... nope. take 2.

Suck 🙁

Spurs, since Baylor doesn't have a second look, I think me and ksmi (if she wants) should just come hang out with you to see stuff. I didn't know that. 🙁

👎

We should totally crash at Spursy place. I know where it is and everything.

I'd love to host you guys for an informal second look thing 🙂 I even have an extra bed and a sleeping bag, so everyone should be (relatively) comfortable. I wonder how much they'd let me show you guys... anyways, minimum, we can go drive around Houston, hang out at Rice and Rice Village, probably get you guys in to see some more classes if you guys want to... endless possibilities 🙂

Maybe you guys could come down on a weekend right after I start back up in the spring but when you're still on winter break? Idk, we can figure out the details later.

yoda did you go to the school with the best financial aid offer (thats what i would do)

I think money matters, up to a point. I was positive that Baylor was the school I wanted, and luckily the money was pretty similar to the other places I got in except for one school that gave me a full ride, but it was just opening. I hate, hate, HATE being a guinea pig.

thats why i said ill get rejected everywhere. i wanted to divert jinx

I don't think it works that way...

Did the SDN folks ever announce the names of the mascots?

Not that I've seen. But I wanna know who won.

It's coming soon 🙂 We do already know the winner.

Italy - that's unique.

...I think I will change my avatar to something UF/Tebow-related for the game this weekend...

Nice

Me, neither. Closest Ikea to me is in Houston and they don't really deliver, IIRC.

I think that's the only thing my gf would like about me being in Houston.

Haha, score one there 😀

Isn't that a little early for the World Series to finish? Seems like we're into early November the past few years.

Wow, that many?

(A major reason I wanted to take french was so I could read all of the French music blogs since they're the best. Shhh! 😛)

I love those long multi-quote posts that say "Yes, I acknowledge what you all said and actually took time to read it"

I need to give up SDN for a week and then make the most massive multi-quoted post ever. 😀

details on The Clinic please
The Clinic is absolutely amazing. I couldn't find anything that I didn't like about the school. Small class, no tests, no grades, no tuition, hardly any lecture. They like to preach that you basically teach yourself medicine in groups through PBL there. It's by far the most unique curriculum I've seen. Students love it, and they all kept stopping by during our interview day to say what's up.

That's the school. The hospital itself is another story entirely. The Cleveland Clinic is absolutely INSANE. It's soooooo big, and almost every building is very nice and up to date. There's signs of large amounts of donations coming out the ears. (fountains, flat screen TVs everywhere, sculptures...etc). I give it two thumbs up, but it doesn't sound like it's a place for everyone. If you're into research and group work, it's heaven though.

Haha... it's a very good way to procrastinate 😛

Seriously, get with ksmi and let me know when you guys want to come back. And my PM box be constantly open to you 🙂

So I'm eating this right now 😍
