Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wonder where some of the people that were here around the beginning of this thread went.

Shouldn't they want to be here when everything comes to fruition? After all, they helped start it and get it going. Unless they're ashamed of what it's become.

Haha yeah wonder whatever happened to MDman... still, better than our progenitor, tonkatruck... I think he had like 16 posts total 😛

holy crap. 36,933 posts. WTF?!

Makes you feel a little small, no?

Pittsburgh Pirates games on FSN Pittsburgh drew a Nielsen rating of 3.25 that was higher than the regional sports network ratings for 11 other major league clubs, according to SportsBusiness Journal.

Although the Pirates lost 99 games during a record-setting 17th consecutive losing season, their ratings were higher than those for the Royals, Orioles, Astros, Indians, Mets, Rangers, White Sox, Dodgers, Angels, Athletics and Nationals.

well its a regional rating so i guess that makes sense why mets, white sox, and the LA teams had ****ty ratings

My poor (Dis)Astros...

I'm still here!!

Good grief, the THIRD post in this thread?

Sweet.

By this time tomorrow, some of us may have acceptances already! I think ksmi is a pretty good guess though.

I noticed that too, but think about it and it makes sense: the Mets are overshadowed by the Yankees; the Dodgers and the Angels live in LA where they don't actually care about baseball, it's just something to go out to; and I know firsthand that the Rangers fans have given up on them permanently and forever until they actually make the playoffs.

Heyyyyyy so... anyone bored, can read spanish and want to proof my two papers for me? 🙁

They're only 1 page long and they're due in about 3 hours, but I only have 2 hours to print them. I finished them too late for my proofreader to check them out. :\

Dreamt about acceptances and what not. Bleh. Tired of waiting.

You are going to kill on acceptances. I am sick of the wait, too.

Dress warmly for your trip to lovely Baltimore...early cold snap up this way.

according to my roommate, Indiana sent me something talking about the 15 or 16th...only he can't find it to give it to me. dam.

ugh me too! i had a really weird dream that i got an acceptance letter from georgetown, but they accidentally mailed me all their notes about me too! so there was a pro side and a con side on the piece of paper and the con side had all these terrible things written about me🙁 but i was accepted so apparantly it was all good haha

jackson, we might apparently have to wait until next week for gtown. Did you look at that school specific thread?

That's true. Plus the Angels and Dodgers directly compete with each other. I'm actually really surprised about the Dodgers, though.

My understanding is that there aren't many TRUE baseball fans in LA. Much like any sporting event over there, it's more of an opportunity to go out and be seen than to actually care about the game itself; therefore, if the game isn't what's really important, you shouldn't be surprised that they're not going to tune in at home.

Holy shmoly! 36,933 posts! Whoa! I thought all your post counts were high until I saw that. Wow...

Anyway, good morning fine people of the class of 2014!

yes, so sad🙁 why would you go out of town when you know 100's of people are counting on you to deliver their fate?!

She has more posts than this entre thread.

I know, pretty unprofessional IMO.

Haha, it's actually my favorite... I'm not a huge fan of fantasy baseball (too long and boring) and fantasy football is just irritating (unpredictable and not enough strategy)

Any takers?

does anyone have their PS constantly brought up at their interviews? so far, 6 of 7 schools have talked about it. and about half of the people who brought it up have quoted one particular line from memory...it's good to know that they actually take the time to read it. didn't realize it meant so much when i was writing it. def the key advice i will pass down to my mentees.

Okay, maybe it's just me, but I don't understand these fantasy sports. How does it work? And what is the general appeal?

it's just an added element to watching the games. gives you another aspect to root for (i.e. you get an array of points for different things such as assists, points, double-double's, etc).

eh, i dont really think its unprofessional. i mean theres no rule that says they have to tell us this week. it is definitely annoying though-it would be nice to know so i can stop thinking about it and being anxious!

makes sense, i dont do it though because i like to root for the team i want to win without the conflict of interest of one of my fantasy players being on the opposing team

So how does it work? What do you have to do?

Anyone want to do fantasy basketball?

Maybe... let me think if I have time...

Yeah, I think it becomes a lot more important at the actual interview stage, because it really gives them a lot of the talking points to jump off of.

A lot of people have asked me about it/quoted it/told me how well written it is. Makes me feel weird when my interviewers compliment me.

it came up like twice but most of my interviews have been a focus on research and acitivites slash medicine (being in philly and the type of peeps i see)

I have been told mine is one of the best they ever read...sheesh...

At one interview, the first words out of the interviewer's mouth were "I have been looking forward to this - now tell me more about X in your PS"...

I wish I knew when to expect decisions from schools. Like Michigan, they'll send out decisions at 12:01 EDT tonight. None of my schools have a set time. 🙁

Hmmm... Interesting.... I guess I can see why it could be fun to play if you were really into sports. Makes sense now.

Haha yep.... and it's especially fun if you love crunching numbers and stuff

I'm going to start a thread and see who is interested.

Spurs, I think you should do it... you've talked some solid basketball on this forum from what I've seen!
