No, seriously, I'm curious as to what someone who doesn't follow the NBA at all used to rank the players. Did you just look at their pictures and put the hottest ones at the top? 😛

That involves too much effort. I trusted that, since the world loves me more than all of you, if I closed my eyes and clicked some stuff, I'd end up with an awesome team.

I'm curious as to why someone who doesn't follow the NBA changed the preset computer rankings. Normally they work out for beginners.

Why don't you just make it so that everyone who wants in w/ enough posts automatically gets in? It's not like anyone is ever actually going to say no.

some people dont give a hoot. no point letting them see my gorgeous face if they arent dying to see it in the first place...

you're calling out ksmi for being cocky after this post?!

Haha nice. I wish I could see your list just for grins.

Hence, the qualifier "everyone who wants" in. 🙂

man why cant there be fantasy investment league games for people like me, who know nothing about sports and love financial statistics? haha.

actually im sure there are, im just too lazy to join them.

wow tim mcclelland (3rd base ump from tonight) is crazy: in the press conference he just said he doesn't believe the replay because "in his heart" he believed nick swisher left too soon. what?!

no that would be too much like the real thing - but really, there are a lot of places where you can 'pit' your portfolio and investments against other big investors like Buffett and such, to see how you stack up.

if anyone was interested in stats for what it 'takes' to be a legend - here they are

Greatest Investors.

29% for 37 yrs. - George Soros
21% for 40 yrs. - Warren Buffett
29% for 18 yrs. - Eddie Lampert
29% for 18 yrs. - Peter Lynch
24% for 13 yrs. - Jim Cramer
15% for 20 yrs. - Benjamin Graham

these numbers seem rather small but believe me they are nearly impossible in the world of investing, besides these super smart dudes.

Soros is the freakin' man. If the league involved currency arbitrage and ruining national currencies, I'd have to go with Soros for the win.

There's an interesting story, for anyone unfamiliar with Soros. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Soros

Broke England + Malaysia.

Sweet, I figured nobody really paid attention to Soros outside of investing. But yeah I am mixed on Soros, at one end he is a cutthroat villain but also has some very interesting ideas about free markets and his latest book is incredible, check it out if you get the chance.

Its got 'new paradigm for financial markets' in the title, so you know its boss.

Are you still in the library? Shouldn't you get some sleep on your comfy rug?
 and I've been thinking it would be weak sauce to host with only my cheap Ikea futon available.

Soros is my favorite investor.

Soros is my favorite investor.
Agreed. People called him a villain, but really, he called government banks' bluffs. If they used faulty mechanisms for artificially maintaining their exchange rate, then they are the ones to blame, not Soros. At least he's Mr. Philanthropy now and grew a conscience, lol

I cannot believe people really like George Soros as their favorite investor, vs Buffett, or someone more prominent in the media. Kudos. My favorite is Lampert, but his winning streak came to a pretty awful loss the last few years. Im still betting on him though.

I wouldn't be interested in joining a fantasy investing league.

On that note, I believe I am going to sleep. I've gotten tired of saying good things will happen tomorrow, because they rarely do. And even if they do, it doesn't have anything to do with my wishes. Things will happen.

😴

theres a fantasy investing league somewhere. im totally down. people are trained with simulators and fake money. i think they have taken it to mainstream, but no one really does it.

lets do it. how hard is it to invest 200k (Well its pretty hard to have 200k to risk), looking for maybe a 1% profit daily, just riding waves or arbitraging

well i mean motleyfool.com has been running a virtual portfolio service for years. Now its rather large and tracks hundreds of thousands of people. its become so accurate that it actually does predict good returns on certain investments and sectors.

someone recommended kaching.com to me today, its kinda cool but I just dont have the patience to do this stuff. I do invest, but I keep focused on real money investing since that is what I am doing this for in the first place.

No, not really. These guys post about 50 pages a week or something. I can barely keep up so I drop in when I get incredibly bored of waiting for rejection letters lol.

I've joined those online investing leauge things before, but I allways get bored and decide to concentrate on actual investing.

Me and my brother have who can get a higher return contest every quarter though, so kind of the same thing.

Every quarter? man that must be really tough. I get sad thinking of quarterly returns, I want to compound over the long term so I tend to completely avoid that thinking. My brother and I do compare returns but he pretty much beats me hands down.

I like to think I will end up kicking ass at some point, 😉

Weee I'm gonna be a doctor! SUNY Upsate 1st acceptance.

guys...who is chris paul?

damn im gonna need to do some research on these foo's

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

1st acceptance! Wright State...what a load off my mind

Congrats. 👍

when ranking your players, which catergory are you guys looking at most?

slash do you rank the top 5 so that you have all the positions covered??

It's probably best to take the best available player. When you get some stars on your team you can draft for position if you need to, but leaving the CPU rankings will probably work well.

Just know that if you have either 1st or 2nd overall pick, choose either LeBron James or Chris Paul.

i have been doing sporcle quizzes for the last 5 hours

granger is basically like durant. Score crapload of points but otherwise, nothing much. I would never take those two above wade or james or paul. or bryant.
