Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hello all!
any new and shiny acceptances for you guys?

no, are you due to hear back from any school soon?

Also, using FT% rather than FTM doesn't seem like a very good idea in fantasy league. FTM, even at a bad percentage, is still a good thing because you're getting the other team in foul trouble, but FT% at a low number of FTM really isn't all that helpful.

i agree. free throws are the only thing that keeps Paul Pierce in the NBA

well the decision I really care about isn't due back til March....
but I am supposed to hear back from pretty much everywhere else by Thanksgiving...sucks when left and right I hear people screaming "BINGO!!!"

oh and I was walking out of the hospital where I work today to see a group of med school interviewees on my way...tried to look away but noticed that a girl I know from HS was in the crowd.....FML

heh, just look away. somewhat embarrassingly, i suppose, i saw this girl i had a crush on back in my freshman/sophomore year at my Miami interview today. We were supposed to be the same year, but she's already a MS2 😳 haven't seen her in ages, blast from the past

I said Hi...I wish her well...just not when it comes to my specific spot lol

FT % adds up over a week. I'd prefer to use both, but we needed an odd number of categories, and that sort of would put too much emphasis on FTs. I think either is fine.

i might be a *******, but why is that a FML moment?
I have been waiting to hear from my undergrad for ages...
and it is just a bit hard for me because for the past three years I have been convinced that whatever it takes, I will make it in.
I have great stats for it and great recs from actually the med school's profs besides the usual milieu...not a word
And this morning I convinced myself not to care about hearing back from the school.....only to run into a crowd full of reminders of why I do care.

not that it's a problem with me, but having a guy like Dwight Howard can fairly negatively significantly impact your FT% even though the fouls that he draws should really be a pretty positive thing.

It selects for different things, but you're right it definitely puts less emphasis (no emphasis?) on guys who draw a lot of fouls, and a lot more emphasis on good shooters. It also makes you think about playing some of those big men you got in the late rounds...

ocheni horosho!

yea i didnt apply to my undergrad to avoid that FML-istic scenario
I really love my undergrad and I know that I'd fit in at the medschool....I just can't figure out what is the hold up and wish that if they just plain didn't care for me that there was a way to let me know. But alas nobody gets rejected during interview season so phreeewwwww (frustrated noise)

back when they created basketball, they probably had no idea that people like Paul Pierce would base their entire life upon the ability to draw fouls

da devochka

Emory loves ppl who are multi-talented, especially in fields that have little relation to medicine like the arts, sports, or music. That's why I didn't apply there.

Hate to toot my own horn but I write, love literary theory, drawing and painting....that is not the issue here....don't feed my crazy over-analyzation...I'd rather delude myself back into thinking that I do not care.

emory just started their season though. no use in worrying about things you cant control at the moment.

oh my god this dogpile is nuts

i can't imagine the falcons not getting that

Wow. Definitely turned it off after the first time the falcons lost it past the 2:00 mark. WTF happened?!?!?

Thanks for being supportive.
Sometimes it sucks being inside my head because my love of ...thinking...takes me places that I really do not need to think about.
I am quite fine though. Getting 5 interviews scheduled and another one waiting to be is not bad at all. I just hate the uncertainty.

yea i know how it feels

do you think its the fear of not being in atlanta next year thats kinda making you a little sad?

im pretty sure its my last year in philly. i was sad when it was my last year in nyc knowing i wouldnt be back. but at the same time, things always get more interesting because we mature and grow and the people around us do the same (since we are gonna be in school).

its kinda exciting to think what new places we could end up at and how we could integrate into that city and more

do you have any significant awards and stuff on those things tho? idk, emory just seemed pretty random to me. i studied them quite a bit over the past year and i just didn't see a really set critierion except that they like really accomplished artsy/sporty types.

You'll be fine, the process is more or less random, a lot of the time there just isn't an explanation. Hell, i still don't know why UF hasn't given me an interview yet, even tho there's prolly a less than 1% chance i'd go there anyway even if i was accepted.
