What do you think he meant by that? If a dean of admissions said that to me, I would follow up with questions...
 
ive never driven a REALLY big truck. the biggest i went was the cheapest Hertz moving truck

It wasn't like he just up and said it. There was a whole convo about it. He asked what I did to nurture my creative side. Apparently being on colorguard doesn't count because I don't actually choreograph things. He for reals was looking for a very narrow answer... writing, painting, drawing, etc. Anything else didn't count.

yea you gotta pull some strings with OSU for me. probably hear back sometimes this month (or really soon). then we can go walking around the mall with matching OSU bags
 
I don't know what to do with my OSU bag. I need a laptop bag, but it feels weird carrying that bag which has "The Ohio State University College of Medicine" emblazoned across it.

Was this Dean K...? I know him - he is a good guy, but he is pretty critical about stuff like that, generally about what people do in their spare time. He also has something of a bias against the south LA applicants - that they tend to not have seen much of the world - I talked about this before, but that "provincial" upbringing thing...

Use it and wear it like a champ. You need a laptop bag, plus you earned it. At worst, you'll draw looks of envy and maybe start a few conversations.

Yeah, he's super nice, but it just seemed like a really weird thing to harp on for so long. Like he didn't ask what I did in my spare time just what I did that was creative. But whatevs, not a huge deal. I don't think it was a deal breaker just a concern he had about me.

You might look back over your apps, and specifically at your PS, to see if there is something you left out when describing yourself...if he had this concern, other schools may have it, too...

As for LSU-S, you will be accepted, no doubt about it. But I would take what he said and at least give it some thought...you can't change your apps, and you can't reinvent yourself at this point, but you might want to think about this if/when you get any other interviews.

Interviewers have said critical things to me that, while I don't think they were necessarily correct or even fair, I tried to be objective about myself and the app I gave them to see if I could be better prepared if the same thing came up again...

yea K you already own this cycle. he probably wanted to see how you would respond. people see someone with a perfect record and thats probably the only interesting thing left to do for them
 
i think you have to go into the my accounts page. its not under deactivate tho. you have to click that you want it gone forever.

ill probably start a new one once med school starts

jeez, don't try to make her feel worse about it. she's already gotten multiple acceptances; i REALLY doubt that she left some critical aspect of her personality out of her apps. it is a million times more likely that this dude at LSU was either weird, trying to get a rise out of her, or some combination of the two. 🙄

I really haven't let it get to me. I don't think the fact that I don't paint means I'll be a bad doctor, and if a school thinks that, then they are weird. Even so, I, for one, think dance (and as a subset - colorguard) even when choreographed is a form of creative expression, but nope, not good enough.

Yeah, I'm very very mad at myself right now. I corrected all that information on my AMCAS immediately when I decided not to retake the MCAT, but apparently, the schools didn't get the memo. Ugh. Bad bad way to start the day.

i got to drive my school's catering truck around campus once. it was saweeeeeeeeeeet.

Ah well, it was worth a shot. It'll be difficult waitlist-wise for me because if I'm going OOS I need to know early because my future fiancée needs to get re-certified as a teacher in a different state in time for interviews there.

The waitlist was very close to a rejection for me. Sorry to be such a downer. 🙁
