Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I worry because I'm afraid that my stats aren't good enough for consideration. I put a lot of effort into the personal statement (and other aspects of the application), so it would be painful if they screened me out prior to reviewing those.

I understand why you're worried, but it's not gonna change anything. I think you'll hear from places pretty soon.

I have similar stats, so I completely understand how you feel. While it's good to have the occasional freaking-out-about-your-future-with-your-best-friend-and-a-ton-of-alcohol night, for the most part try and channel that energy into finding ways to improve your application. While you can't do much to change the outcome of this cycle now, you can make an impact on the next (if it comes to that).

And until you have every last rejection letter in hand, there is always hope. 👍

research sucks, but you somewhat enjoy the good things in it. but being in a lab 24/7 sucks. even established PIs will tell you that. but ill probably do a research year

Agree bench research sucks. But I want to do clinical research, though.

sGPA 3.3, cGPA 3.5, MCAT 32, verified early sept. no interviews yet. still hope?

I say wait and see, still plenty of time left.

sammich, your avatar always makes me happy when I look at it. It's awesome.

Congrats to Bender! Anything else exciting happen today? I'm too lazy to catch up on the past few pages.

It'd be creepy if I didn't know you guys... but I do.

So thank you all!! 🙂 🙂

youll get them

when do you hear back from OSU, man?

:xf: with that. Me too. Whover has extra, please send to me and jj

Hopkins obviously, but they don't give money so if a school like Vandy or Washu give you a lot of money it might make the choice tough! Good position to be in though 😀

Dude, you'll have more than you can handle.

You guys are cool. Thanks. 🙂

All caps fail?

Congrats. 👍

and for what it's worth, RF was the place where I got asked the crazy math riddle mentioned in the bizarre interview moments and where the guy said at the end of my interview "Not a very good picture huh?" 🙄

You were asked a math riddle?

You were asked a math riddle?
Yes. I was asked a math riddle while he reviewed my application in front of me and told me to take 5-10 minutes to think about it, lol

"Put four 9s together to equal 100 using each one only once."

EDIT: also, if I could have your opinion, I know it's weird, but I never really lay into people on SDN. Someone on the RF thread just posted something I found pretty arrogant, and I finally let him/her have it. Please let me know, too harsh?

bam might have a real dick of a classmate next year.

that math riddle stumped me until i read ksmi's answer ha, for some reason i thought there had to be an operator between each 9....

Well now we know Mayo's a guy... It has a ****.

Hey guys, just got my first acceptance yesterday (Case). Do I need to keep up a 3.7 GPA? After I graduate (next quarter) do I need to be actively working towards anything academic or clinical (volunteering / research)? Do I still need to be busting my ass, or can I tone it down a bit?

Making a 3.3-3.5 and slowing down on all my ECs would be wonderful! Can I get a non-medically related job for cash? Is there a thread for this type of post-acceptance stuff?

That all sounds totally fine. I'm completely slowing down on all EC's starting... oh, it kind of already started. No pressure for 4.0s anymore unless you really want to update schools you're waiting on.

All this because he's too proud to deal with getting held at RF.
