👍 Seeing as how I'm probably going to end up in Syracuse, it'll be nice to have a friend in warm places! I have a feeling I'm shortly going to regret all of my complaining about how hot jamaica is.

I usually find that pale people are really hard sticks actually.... tan = better. So stay ghost-like if your goal is to avoid being the practice dummy 😉

And I got my pen today. I called my mom beforehand that it wouldn't be anything exciting so she shouldn't freak out. I'm glad I did. She stressed me out when I get mail.
 
I guess I haven't been as lazy as usual. Putting in a lot of hours the last few weeks! And when I'm not at work I feel like I'm working out. I think my waitlist week has had a positive effect on me lol.

Let's see it tats.

Had the worst day of my life in lab today. I broke two eppendorf pipettes and it took me 6 hours to setup a western blot that I planned on running today which will be ran tomorrow (hopefully). I also missed a job interview for an ambulance company because I had to find a way to get my gels to polymerize (I can't believe it took me 6 hours to make gels). Finally when my PI decided to show up he realized that the TEMED was old and not activating the gel polymerization. Great. My legs also are sore from yesterday. I'm currently b.s.ing an assignment for anthropology.

How was your day? Sorry for the venting; I just needed to get it out.

vent away, its no good to keep it inside. my day was frustrating, although not to that extent. i'm working with this new computer program and it sucks. had to call IT 50 times today, no joke. we were on a first name basis.

i've never made gels but that sounds horrendous 👎.

are you looking to work as an EMT?

umm, I don't know the difference between small and large labs. There's 2 undergrad students working in it, one doctoral candidate, one post-doc, and the PI does his own projects as well.

I called a friend and she was so nice; she left class to come help me with my blunder. My PI is always in and out and every time I need him he's not available.

I've never been taught how to make gels, but my PI assumes I know how to make them and it was just bad. It's alright, I think I have it down now after 6 hours of playing around with Acrylamide (which I found out is cancerous after I spilled it all over myself).

Yeah. Computer programs always give everyone fits. I remember working at a Dentist's office and she switched her entire system. Everything changed and I missed the training, so I had no idea how to digitally file the x-rays, schedule patients, chart their periodontal work, etc. It's all about getting used to a new computer system. I was doing my EMT clinicals in a well-known Michigan hospital and they had just switched systems and one of the docs in the trauma room was trying to order a CT scan for the level-1 trauma patient and he couldn't do it and just started freaking out and yelling at the computer and throwing stuff across the trauma room. It was intense. (That is also finding itself a way into my P.S.)

I would love a 24 hour shift once a week as an EMT. Get some more hands on experience with patients, get the adrenaline rush of lights and sirens, and make some chedda' to pay for booze with.

And everyone says gels are easy once you get used to them; I've just never been taught how to do them, so I literally had to play with all the equipment until I figured out how to make them on my own just by looking at the protocol...

He was on MTV's Silent Library the other day. I can't stand his music to be honest. He's like twelve and he's singing about relationships and love... Really? We're listening to a twelve year old sing about relationships?
