I want one! My dad met with his financial advisor and he's apparently going to take my awards and figure out the best strategy for financing my education. Sigh.

it's even more fantastic when you're in an SMP and realize 70% of them for some reason will end up as physicians..

True but who cares about ugrad and postbacc grades, besides admissions committees. They are no measure of someone's intangibles that contribute to becoming a doctor.

A lot of those SMP slackers will prolly turn out to be good docs one day.
 
I'm starting to feel like the new guy in this thread, btw. I'm trying to keep my head popping in but I just can't! Dunno what it is.... I'm about to be lost in the shuffle like our old friend blue.

people should be striving for excellence. especially those on their last chance.

you're absolutely correct. i'm just saying don't be one to judge simply based on grades.... some of those people have qualities that you may lack. after all you yourself said they will be your colleagues one day... so seek out the good and deal with the bad, i guess.

absolutely. the grade per se is inconsequential, it's the attitude.
 
I was proctoring an exam today and this creepy guy kept on looking up and grinning at me. Then I realized that's just what he looks like all the time.

and the mcat... ahh the mcat. definitely glad it's over. but does anyone else ever feel like they wanted another crack at it? sometimes i feel like it is my shortcoming of this application cycle....

i think unless you get a 45 you'll always want to take at least another crack. then you lay down the crack pipe.

Your name got a lot of love back then didnt it Zona. Everytime someone read that chapter in their biology book and put two and two together the lights clicked on.

Funny how long ago that was. lol

I just read about that last night! I knew I'd seen it before, and it was here. I assumed it was some made up anime name.

Yeah. I'm not retaking if I have to reapply. Retaking with double digits in every section is too risky for me.
 
i don't remember too much about the mcat. i think my brain suppresses traumatic memories

edit: also, step 1 is going to be so much worse

Actually, I talked with my cousin about that. He's on the adcom at his school. He said it wasn't as bad as the MCAT because 1. it was fresher material and 2. it didn't determine his future in a tight intense competition where only 43% make it in. The stress is completely different and there is tons of support available to help you nail it. It's not an obstacle keeping you out, it's designed to be hard but to make sure you can continue on through.
