Thanks for the positive vibes!!!
🙂 Can I enjoy the day in So. Cal. with you??? I will be there all of next week for spring break, actually. I am SO excited!!!!
Gosh, it's hard to say what my top choice is anymore. I have been extraordinarily fortunate in this cycle to have the interviews I have had- I NEVER expected it with my low mcat score. I would have to say that UCSD was my best interview by far. I loved the student-run clinic, the humanitarian initiative, the under-served population, and the general commitment to a healthy lifestyle (being in SD and all...) As far as an academic/research community & an an inpsirational interview- Hopkins was AMAZING!! I walked away with something to work towards...I loved their community and the energy I felt just from walking around the campus. There is so much history there. If I got in to JHU, it would be really really hard to turn down that offer (not just for the reputation of the school, I promise)- Hopkins is so much more than a name. Dartmouth was a lovely community as well- a little small and rural for my tastes. I am also from the southwest and have never lived in snow...not sure yet how that will work out. The Dartmouth option is a fully funded MD-PhD program, though. I am trying not to weigh finances into it and just go more for happiness/high quality of life...but a 24K stipend, health insurance, and tuition reimbursement is hard to ignore. At the end of the day, I just feel really lucky to have options and I know that there are no "wrong" choices. I have family in So. Cal., so it would be nice to stay close to home. I also happen to love it there...meh, I am confused (in a good way)
If I had to make a decision today, I think I would go with PRIME-Heq at UCSD and plan to pursue the MPH at Hopkins...but that's counting a lot of chickens before they hatch. I believe in optimism
😉
How about you? Where are you thinking of going?
