i'm still deciding, but leaning HST :/

it's too bad you don't need to go NYC to Boston. the Fung Wah bus is like an adventure

you can do fung wah to philly! when i was a first year in college, a fung wah bus burst into flames on the mass pike. my mom wouldn't let me take them home after that

i believe the fung wah also made the national news for striking a pedestrian in NYC...not the best record to say the least

i recently took the fung wah where one of the company employees was trying to make someone move their backpack off the adjacent seat, or else pay for that extra seat. oh man, there were some "i'm going to cut you!"s and not-nice name calling that followed in that conversation

haha the craigslist scammers are great, i had a bunch of them contact me when i posted an ad wanting a nanny position. i wonder who actually falls for something like that though.

and that fung wah bus sounds a bit sketcy! maybe it's like most chinatown things-a good imitation, but never as good as the original and likely to break😛

Speaking of Craigslist, have you ever looked at the "missed connections" section? It's kinda funny. Once, my co-worker was put on there, and that was a little freaky. We were pretty sure it was this guy who used to come into our store all the time and just to hit on/follow him around as he worked.

For anyone that has one minute to waste

Warning: it's a really stupid video

real men have callouses foo

it's not about that, it's about hand strength/stability, with the power grip I can deadlift/squat about 335 or so w/o using straps with gloves, but if I didn't have them I'd prolly barely manage 275. The same is true for barbell shrugs. The only reason I could see needing a belt for barbell shrugs is if you were picking the bar off the ground. My gloves have a wrist strap which helps stabilize my wrists during lifts too, it's useful for curls, high weight bench press etc. I definitely don't think I'd feel safe w/o them on dumbbell and barbell bench, a guy in our gym almost pulled a stafon Johnson a couple months ago, was doing narrow grip bench press and dropped 175 right onto his chest from 2' cuz his wrists gave out, broke a rib and got a chest contusion. Luckily it wasn't 250 on his neck...

those things always seem scary to me. i'm always afraid that i'd land with my legs bent and the weight right between my legs....

Swiffer is the greatest invention known to man

I now officially smell like cleaning products (just got done w/ the bathroom)

You guys. I just realized that a year ago, this coming Friday, I took my MCAT. Wow. Surreal.

what if they catch me?

I think most places that require a pet fee have it in their lease that they can kick you out for not paying the fee; however, I doubt any apartment would actually go through with this because it doesn't make sense to them financially just to kick you out. But I do know that apartment complexes around here will send around maintenance guys for the sole purpose of checking to see if you have a pet there and haven't paid the fee.

I once lived in an apt where my neighbor was given 24hrs to vacate after it was discovered she had fish. 🙁

They may also choose to keep the deposit if they need to "de-hair" the place after you leave or whatever.

I would like to think that they would only bother if your pet was a nuisance.

the fee is not that extensive, I would just pay it.

it just sucks that it is so high. that's per pet too.
but it is a really nice clean place and the rent is pretty cheap so I will probably end up paying.

Dammit, 0 financial aid from penn +pissed+

Why do they assume my parents will actually help pay for med school!? I'm 27 and been taking care of them for a few years.. and they really don't have 300K to burn over 3 years. ARGH
:boom:

sorry; really mad just needed to vent. 300K debt; this is going to hurt

Edit: btw ksmi I guess we are in the same boat now 🙁 I'm still crossing my fingers that wash U comes through for you though!

Yeah man, it's weird, but when I got zero aid from my top choice, I wasn't so much angry as I felt hurt, like they were telling me that they really didn't want me or something. I know that's totally unfounded, but I guess I've got a complex or something. 🙁

sorry man i think a lot of us are in the same situation. Very few people end up with aid unfortunately unless you go to a school like harvard or something 🙁...my 2 fin aid packages i got so far i have almost nothing in free money. Im waiting on my last package from the school im likely going to attend....im praying

I always thought it was a sick sense of humor for them to call it "Your financial aid 'award'"

Thanks for the "award". 🙄

no - that's exactly how i feel. don't get me wrong - I'm honored to just have the opportunity to go to Penn - but it seems like exactly what you said; that they just will "tolerate" my presence there kinda thing.

Blerg. Just really pissed 😡

I think the economy has hurt schools a bit too unfortunately 🙁

Wish I had another equal-level school to set against Penn; but I don't. The opportunities at Penn completely eclipse the opportunities from the other schools I got into so 😡

makes sense

BB you made a killing signing free agents. I would do the trade but I hate the red sox
lol no worries, but fair trade, right? (again, with my, "don't want to ever make an insulting trade" complex)

And I've managed to pick up some good FAs, really liking Callaspo and I just dumped Rodney, but he did me proud while he was closer, and I'm thinking Penny (hasn't played for me yet) is the real deal, at least for the spring, had another good outing last night.

yea its a pretty good deal

I just can't believe that I'm benching my "#2" starter today (Vazquez) because I can't trust him until he pitches a game where his ERA is <6.00 lol

Yeah I prefer the one with a double chain for that reason.

As far as weight belts in general, there are (old) studies that show they may be effective at reducing injury by decreasing what they call intra-abdominal pressure. I've also seen new information suggesting that they actually don't do all that much. I don't use them for a few reasons:
1) I have yet to see anybody do squats with correct technique using a weight belt. I have tried and failed; I physically cannot use perfect technique while wearing a belt.
2/3) I don't necessarily care about pushing a few extra pounds, I'd rather have good technique/I want to train my core, not use a belt as a crutch.
4) I generally don't do enough weight to warrant the use of one (IMO).

my favorite lebron dunk was when delonte threw it like 30 feet behind the basket, got fouled, but lebron somehow still went up and got it and put it up for the reverse

+1, especially the belts messing with form. Unless you're some kind of power lifter, it will be hard to injure yourself if you use correct form at all times and don't "cheat" to lift heavier than you really can.
