HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all of a sudden, I got really irked by the Dr. Horrible thing, lol

oh Sammich, how lucky you are that we are friends and that I don't necessarily like Holmes that much...

lol.

To be fair, I posted in that thread that I was considering entertaining the possibility and people should convince me. The only people to say anything were those in favor and he won by a clear margin. So the person with the most votes DID move on. It wasn't as though we just threw him back in.

Democracy in action.

What if I petition to have Dr. Horrible removed from the competition and a new opponent presented to Holmes? lol

Gah. Ah well, I don't know why I can't just let it go. I abstain from now on.

i really don't care who wins the men. i just need gaga to win the laydeez title

Hi all :hello:

Just checkin' in. I'm excited about revisit this weekend....trying to focus on schoolwork so I don't get my offer rescinded for failing my classes. 🙄 I am sort of kidding, but this is harder than it sounds when you're looking forward to big things...

How is everyone else doing today? Any big plans for the week/weekend? May 15th is right around the corner...I anticipate lots of happy posts in the coming month 😉

In other words, he just doesn't want to go to school.

haha that's exactly what i though too! he seemed fine...then he threw up everything he ate/drank this morning ick. at least he made it in the toilet, unlike the 4yo who threw up all over her car seat while i was driving her to the doctor last week-sooo disgusting! i guess it's at least preparing me for all the gross things we'll be encountering in the coming years😛

Awww, poor kids. I hear ya on the preparation. After spending some time shadowing in the ER, I can handle every type of bodily fluid/excretion/smell *except* vomit for some reason. I assume this will go away with more exposure, though. When I see someone about to vomit, I have to step out of the room... It's a little different it seems in an ER because you expect to see that sort of thing and you're so focused on treating the patient that it doesn't phase you as much. When I see drunk people puke in public though (happens in Vegas a lot, as you might imagine), it really gets to me 😳 I have had this issue all of my life, and I was worried for years that I would not be able to go into medicine as a result. It helped finding out that it's an evolutionary adaptation to feel sick when another human is sick, especially if they've eaten the same food as you.

(...this reply was a lot longer than I was expecting it to be...I am finding that I ramble a lot 😛 )

i think its not uncommon. i get a serious gag reflex when i see some one puking or smell it. vomiting is icky enough to make my body want to vomit. desensitization is the key. or hopefully we will be so absorbed into what is going on with the patient that this doesn't cross our minds.

Glad to know I am not alone! 🙂

I go out of my way now when I hear people puking in the ER to peek in and watch from a distance to try and desensitize myself to it. I refuse to give up my dream career because of a silly phobia like that. It's funny, though, the ER doc I work with has the same phobia...and he's an ER doc!!! So, there's hope for us yet 😀
