I'm not a big fan of our local newspaper, it's kind of small-townish. I've never been big on newspapers though, all my news comes from yahoo + my brokerage.

Sorry I'm from a house that never read newspapers, I just get all my news from google :laugh: It's sad these days that you can't figure out how "smart" / knowledgeable someone is by asking them "what's the last book / paper that you read?" since most read stuff online these days [like me!]

I totally care about Brett. I've always been a fan....though I did lose a little respect during that whole rock of love thing. I just thought he would have higher standards.

:luck: I hope it works out! I've only had maybe one professor ever who was a stickler to that rule (other than attendance policies for labs).

Yea; the FAFSA (which considers us as independents) thinks my EFC is $19K. Yes I've been working, but there's no way in hell that I can (by myself) contribute >> $10K to my first year of med school. Where do they get these mathematicians? I'm worried about how much (federal) loans will be available to me with this ridiculous EFC... but we'll see.

Isn't BU known to be pretty expensive/stringent fin aid (like Tufts) anyway?

yeah, they are. but seriously... i've been working for 2 years, but on a social justice fellowship/year of service. so i've only been getting a stipend for most of that time. and my parents (as i'm sure many of y'all on this thread have gathered) don't make much. even at schools that gave me loan-heavy packages, my family's EFC has been closer to $3k-5k. so clearly BU has its head up its butt.

Buffalo tomorrow to present my research at an ASM conference...then down to Philly for Jeff's second look thursday and friday. Then senior week festivities all next week 😎 .. Hoping my sister's baby waits 'til after I graduate May 8th!

Nope. It was the weirdest thing. I got my original waitlist letter at the end of March, which placed me on the "temporary waitlist." Then, last week, I got another waitlist letter, which just put me on the regular waitlist. No clue why.

Metallica defines 80s metal (outside of glam). Sure they got mainstream in the early 90s, but they put out their first album in 83, followed by more in 84, 85, and 88. Those were their best ones.

Hair metal is pretty cool, provided they have musical talent and don't just sing about chicks. I hate songs about chicks!

No, I didn't ask... I didn't ask because they don't outright tell you that you're on the "temporary waitlist." It's just a matter of whether or not a particular phrase is on the letter (which was discovered through deduction on the school specific thread). So... I just felt like it would make for an awkward conversation to ask which one was correct since they don't tell actually you explicitly which list you're on.
