Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The three is probably Dorell Wright. Or it could be Brandan Wright I suppose, if he's all the way back finally. There aren't many 3's left out there unless they want to bring back Matt Barnes, and assuming those 4 guys you named are untouchable, they don't have many trade chips left aside from a few expiring deals (I can't believe Vladimir Radmanovic is still living off his pre-snowboarding money ).

Good point, I just saw that story.

From a blog I read:
My only fear in the signing is that — like Maggette before him — Nelson won’t be able to pass up the temptation of playing [Dorell] Wright at 4, next to David Lee at 5.

So true.

Coincidentally, I just finished the first one like 15 minutes ago.
👍

I've started P90 about 4 times now...and I never get past the second week.... 😳

I'm thinking about starting a blog or maybe keeping a video blog on youtube to make myself stick with it, because I don't want to fail in front of a whole bunch o' people....

Yea I keep putting up FB updates, and my friends keep asking me if I kept up w/ my schedule (they are mostly making fun of me... but it does keep you going) I also have a nickname now - the Beast from the East (or just Beast for short)....

Lucky! I actually had a summer reading book for college. I didn't read the whole thing and nothing really happened... I even found out later that they sent a copy of the book for us to read but I didn't get it until school had already started (and I'd already purchased a copy. It's ok... I returned it. 😀)

I completely agree with that...

And I never had to read Grapes of Wrath... but things like Catch-22 (which only got interesting at the end)...or Catcher in the Rye..... 😴

Reading? Ugh. I don't understand you people. Reading books give me a headache. It's like... words and stuff. How do you people do it 😕

@ Met: was it back and biceps? Wait till you do plyo. You'll seriously need a bucket for the first (and maybe second) time.

👍

LOL Some books are entertaining! They're just usually have no real educational substance which is why they aren't assigned as summer reading (unless someone was lucky enough to have Harry Potter assigned...:meanie:)

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

That's seriously my life motto.

Penn had us read (for summer) the book Better by Atul Gawande. It was actually pretty good! I was surprised I finished it. The only thing I took out of it was "get an MBA while you get your MD".

Great read! If you liked it you may like Complications as well by him. Doesn't have as strong of a central message, though...

So....I don't plan to get anything with my MD. Does that make me a bad medical student?? 🙄

im planning to just take random holidays by not going to class

👍

I get the Thursday and Friday off. That kinda sucks because I'll get to watch all the great deals for things I don't need and can't afford.

pfffft under achiever

 eh. I spent all of my overachiever credits on getting into medical school. I'll split the rest of my average credits between med school and art. 😀

FWIW I didn't like Better. Too much about his political leanings, for me.
Well growing up and having the opposite political views imposed on me on a daily basis by my educational superiors has made me especially good at ignoring political leanings. 👍 lol

heh I hear that. Man - I'm so glad we are all off to med school... feels good to know our hard work paid off eh 👍

Yea a bit political fo shizzle, but still a good read. Sometimes - I actually like to hear people's opinions on stuff - and he had enough meat outside of his opinions that I enjoyed the book. The one thing I want to read is his other book "Checklist"

I thought one of his books was pretty good (can't remember which is which now). The other one was really unfocused and seemed like a bunch of his unconnected musings.

I think the medical community overrates him, but whichever the more refined book is was a decent read.

Reminds me of Complications.

This year's World Cup logo was a guy kicking a ball. In four years, it should be a guy sitting on the ground with his hands on his head whining.

Also, I am officially going to continue my research here during the school year. 😀 It's been too much fun and too rewarding (even when my experiments don't work) to quit now.

Cool. I'm thinking of continuing mine as well. At least until x-mas anyway, and then I'll let step I studying start to consume my life.

Awesome. Any conferences or events coming up in the future that you might get to participate in?

and if i remembering correctly, complications was mostly (if not all) a collection of his essays that were originally published one at a time in the new yorker, so it makes sense that it was pretty disjointed

Damn. No days off til Xmas on the academic calendar then. Welp..that blows.

yikes, that's crazy! we don't get too many, but we at least get labor day columbus day and the day after thanksgiving.

I'm still debating if I want to fly to Yosemite for some rock climbing over labor day weekend...

Idk. We'll see I suppose. My research isn't exactly making great strides right now, but that's part of why I want to keep going. Gotta have something to show for my work. 🙂
