Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So sorry to hear about your friend, Stein. That's really rough, and really young.
There's just of annoying busywork. You'll have an exam on Friday and they'll have some bs small group you have to do for 3 hours the day before the exam, or fill out background check info, or hipaa training, or whatever!

ew I hate hate hated that background check info. I've lived in way too many houses, moving around, back and forth to school, jobs during and after school.. took me forever
Just one day after me! time is passing by sooo fast..
same day as me!

Hey, is it really REALLY crowded there? My friends and I were thinking of going next spring, but I thought it'd still be pretty crowded since it just opened and I'd rather actually see the place.

Well... There's a right way and a wrong way to go about it I've discovered. Get to the park hella early and get free reservation passes because they actually limit the amount of people who can visit the island and the line without reservations is literally two hours and goes through two islands.

Then as soon as you get there, do all shopping and store stuff FIRST. Believe it or not, later in the day all shops have an hour long line later for capacity reasons. The coasters aren't bad to wait for because they have AC and are decked out with amazing scenery and props and SFX.

It's crowded. Very crowded. That being said, even on a 98 degree day like today, it was absolutely amazing and worth every bit of the crowd.

M&M tomorrow morning at 7... grr.

It's interesting though! Getting called on the carpet must be rough though.

I just read that post, soo sorry to hear about your friend stein 🙁

OMG I finally got my PennMed email account. I was starting to get slightly nervous about it, since I set up everything else. Sigh. Penn's IT team fails. At least it's out of the way now (it was supposed to be done by early july at the latest)

👍 All you can do really. Give the old times a good send off - and it reminds you what your new life has to live up to 😀

JEALOUS

:hello: OMA. Wait if you don't have a place yet - are you in the general vicinity crashing w/ a friend or something?

Noooo

hah, i might not move in until a day or two before orientation! BTW, when do you plan on moving down there?

sometime during the week of august 2nd, hard to tell without a plane ticket 😛

Finally found a use for my old desktop! I'm going to convert it to a HTPC for my new plasma tv 😀 Might as well put it to good use.

Now I just need to get an HTPC video card, wireless keyboard + mouse, and a wireless N adapter - total $80... eh I'd say it's worth it to watch my hulu on a 50" plasma :meanie:. Would be cheaper if I hadn't stripped my old PC's video card into my new PC 🙁

$80 for a htpc is pretty good. im guessing you aren't going for a smaller case?

everyone at lab uses a mac desktop/or mac book pro. i cant afford a new mac (plus i already bought a netbook, which is good for browsing/note taking, but sucks for data work). i kinda want to build a hackintosh cheap desktop. anyone know where to start?

Drizz, diagnostic, interventional, neuro.....?

I need to upload my songs from my iPod onto my computer so that I can update my iPod for the first time in a year.

Should I put all my music (a lot) on my old computer, new computer, or both?

Drizz, diagnostic, interventional, neuro.....?

neuro interventional...

yeah, lots of training. I like procedures, though.

If I wasn't going to do rads, I'd definitely do a surgical specialty, probably something like ortho, urology, surg onc.

Nah, it's my old PC that used to be a gaming rig; so it's in a regular sized case. I'm kinda reluctant because this means I'll have my actual primary desktop, my tablet PC, and now this old PC that I've converted into an HTPC... all in the same room. That's a lot of PCs for one room eh

Then again, better than leaving it sitting around my parents house doing basically nothing. And getting Hulu, Netflix, Boxee etc. on a 50" plasma for $80? I'll take that deal...

Beyond that, my PS3 and Wii will be sitting in the room too. Damn; this room's going to be a geek's paradise...

Be careful with static images on a plasma, especially depending on the brand.

Dude, I'm so jealous!

Not much at all. I'm in New Orleans but I have to go back to Baton Rouge at some point in the next 10 days to turn in some stuff to finalize my moving out of the apartment.

nice, maybe i'll get to meet a 2nd sdner, tho i'm sure this one will turn out a bit diff from my other meeting

I'm new to the forum and I'm class of 2014 so I thought I'd stop by and check out this thread.

I saw you guys were on the subject of t.v. shows a couple of pages back. Is anyone here a fan of Lost? It's my favorite show of all time, just in front of Dexter.

ffffffff

Stupid test anxiety. I totally rocked my practice OSCE last week but today was just so awkward. I was fumbling and had to go back to a section. Blahhhh.

I'm normally so good at those things but today was like "I med student, I take info" It was also the only time I've had trouble with the thermometer and blood pressure cuff.

fffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Richard Jefferson's new contract with the Spurs is worth $38.8 million over four years, according to sources.
Jefferson will hold a player option for the final season at approximately $11 million.
He opted out of the final year of his previous contract with San Antonio, which would have paid him $15 million for the 2010-11 season

there goes the spurs run

Agreed.

The win versus the Mavs was their last hurrah and an anomaly combined with the Mavs' inability to perform in the postseason.
yah but they had a good run you cant complain. The NBA is just getting progressively more boring too me lately, anyone else think so? Im vaguely interested in how the whole heat thing will turn out but idk...my interest just fades since the end of the 90s.

on the bright side its only a few months before football season 🙂. This will be the 1st yr in a long time i dont have to sneak away from my wife and kid to go watch it under the guise of having to study at the library lol

I hope I'll be able to get some LSU football tickets this fall (LSU-NO has a lottery for football tickets for each class).

im pondering getting football tix. we are playing usc @ home too

Do it.

How expensive are they? I don't know expensive med school tickets are, but at LSU the student tickets were only $12 per game. Not bad at all considering some tickets would sell for upwards of $200 for the huge games.

too bad ucd doesnt have any real sports. That was one thing if i went to uw mad i would def be at some badger/packers games and it would have been sweet. I could go to niner games i guess, though i have no idea how far it is from me lol

$90 for the season incl fees

are you allowed to resell individual student tix?

Not really. It depends. The name on the ticket doesn't have to match the name on the student ID so you could theoretically sell them to another student for as much as they're willing to pay. Just don't get caught (not really sure how people get caught btw) or they take away ticket privileges.

our home schedule

south dakota
usc
norther illinois
northwestern
penn state
ohio state
iowa

pretty legit schedule

That's a really good schedule. I see only 1 team on there that won't be going to a bowl.

Oh wait... I guess 2 if you include USC. 😆

Go Hawks! Wait... go Blue? Still getting used to this...

Our student season tix were like $200, same for all students whether undergrad, grad, med, law, etc.

Our home schedule in the BIG HOUSE: :meanie:

Sat., Sep. 4 vs. Connecticut
Sat., Sep. 18 vs. Massachusetts
Sat., Sep. 25 vs. Bowling Green
Sat., Oct. 9 vs. Michigan State
Sat., Oct. 16 vs. Iowa (Homecoming)
Sat., Nov. 6 vs. Illinois
Sat., Nov. 20 vs. Wisconsin

I didn't get season tickets because people were saying you can buy individual games from ppl with season tickets for pretty cheap, and I don't want to go to all those games... although I definitely need to see this at some point:

That's a decent schedule, Stein.

LSU's home schedule this year is:

Mississippi St
West Virginia
Tennessee
McNeese St
Alabama
Louisiana-Monroe
Ole Miss

Bolded games will be good, no matter how much Ole Miss sucks this year because we hate them so much.

Or maybe it won't. :highfive:

 well met did have a bf 😳
