Class of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
After moving into my new apt, I realized how much **** I really own, even though I thought I was only bringing the "essentials."

Yeah, that's annoying. I still have some stuff in my room at my parents' house, too. Not too much, but enough.

I told my fiancee that we can't get too much stuff over the next couple of years because hopefully we'll be moving far away after I finish and I don't feel like bringing too much stuff.

Chill and get yourself zen. Establish a good sleep schedule, start cooking stuff, get an exercise program if you want one, and find time for your hobbies. Figure out stuff you won't be able to figure out once the **** starts hitting the fan.

sleep sched- probably not going to happen until classes have started
cooking- got that pretty covered
exercise- no comment (although my friend just got me a pink yoga mat!)
hobbies- not sure what those are anymore after the epic laziness that was this summer

Sounds good enough. 👍

As long as you don't have anything in your everyday that's bugging you because it's not getting done or not getting done the way you want it.

🙁

Although this matters little to anybody, I found out that I live extremely close to the Real World house. I also saw one of girls from it at a restaurant the other week.
wow thats cool.
I am driving to NOLA starting eaaaaaaaaarly (seriously...way too early) tomorrow. Guh its going to be so painful trying to unload all that stuff with just my mom and I (basically just me lol)

Well, whenever you start to feel settled - I'm around if you need a ride somewhere or have any questions.

Not that I know very much about the area you're living in. The only time I go there is for Port of Call - bar/grill with the best baked potatoes ever, really good burgers and drinks that will kick your ass. Good times.

Seriously though, I feel like I have no idea what's about to smack me in the face...again and again and again. I def wanted to learn more guitar this summer but that just never happened. I was randomly gone for trips and only picked up my guitar like twice.

i propose doing nothing

I think I'm going to concur with this.

Yahhh I miss the spring, when the late-nighters would talk about random **** for no good reason for pages.

Do tell...
Nah I'm just messing around, it's pretty easy to do nothing

although I suppose if you're not careful, you could end up accidentally doing something

**** I def gotta watch out for that then.

So when's your orientation blobby bob?

Fo seriously! Orientation is on the 9th and classes start 16th.

I feel like I might be seriously underestimating how intense med school is about to be. People keep telling me things like "man, enjoy your free time while you have it!" and "dude, you're going to be studying all the time!" and I feel like I might just be missing something and not fully comprehending what's about to happen to me

(this is where I'm hoping a current med student pops in and says "eh, it's not so bad")

He's a pretty chill guy, always making grilled cheese and breakfast food and such.

this is true. maybe if more med students made more grilled cheese sandwiches they wouldn't be so stressed out all the time

And breakfast food! Don't forget the breakfast food! Mmmmm bacon, french toast with strawberries, scrambled eggs, and potatoessssss. Absolutely divine.

i'm thinking that if/when i get to be on my school's admissions committee, i'll probably recommend interviewing anyone who manages to sneak bacon into their personal statement

...based on this, i think it's safe to say that i should never be in charge of anything, ever.

Man if I ever get on admissions, I can't wait to ask interviewees random stuff like this.

me: "So, what's your favorite type of bacon?"
interviewee: [cricket cricket]
me: Btw, this is a timed question. You have 10 secs left. Oh, make that 8.

I could see this happening:

Float: What's your favorite type of bacon?
Interviewee: uhhh..canadian bacon?
Float: *shakes head in disappointment* I'm sorry, that's unacceptable. You're not allowed to have preferences -- I mean, you wouldn't play favorites with your patients, would you?

or this way:

F: "What's your favorite type of bacon?"
I: "Well, I'm a vegetarian..."
F: 😱 :uhno:

Ahhh nice response (from me).

Um...an entire slab?

Er...but hickory only?

Umm I'm not sure how it's categorized but the kind from Costco is my fav. Microwavable=mess free.

I am sure my upstairs neighbors are wondering why I am laughing so hard.

The worst part is....if I told any "normal" people this story, they wouldn't get it🙂

How common is it to completely bomb a rotation/have an attending or resident hate you? Just curious. 😛

Common. Especially at UM, so I've heard...

Mine went ok, got great comments, assessments weren't exactly where I wanted them to be but it looked like they were stingy with everyone and I did awesome in a relative sense, we'll see if anyone honors this rotation. I think it'll be close.

I like waking up (relatively) early and actually doing something productive.

Hanging out with the family today. I feel like I haven't seen them at all sicne I moved out. I'll probably see them more when I'm a poor med student wanting meals and stuff.
