Class of 2015 (Application cycle 2010-2011)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It has been 9 business days since I requested my last transcript, with rushed processing, and AACOMAS still hasn't received it :scared:😡

It takes awhile. I requested one of my transcripts on like May 7th and it wasn't logged in until May 27th.

Also AACOMAS has a "it takes up to 5 business day" policy from when they get your transcript. I'm fairly sure they held true to this policy on all but one of my transcripts.

They must be really backed up becuase, I sent my transcripts to AMCAS and AACOMAS at the same time and AMCAS has received all of mine while AACOMAS still says unreceived

Cool, thanks. I was a little worried since my first two transcripts were logged within 7 business days after being sent.

A general question:

Apparently, it is important to convince a school that you really are interested in their school. Most schools even have secondary essays of the "Why do you want to attend our school?" type.

Why do schools care if you really want to go to their school?

If they want more students, why not accept more applicants?

Is there some type of limit of acceptances they can give?

They are limited by their rotations, teachers, classrooms, among other things. Also, each school wants to take only the best students that they feel can pass the boards the first time and give their school a good name.

Also, you gotta be careful not to just repeat the school's catalog on those questions. They want real reasons, not the bull**** most people spew.

This is probably their way of seeing who really has connections with the school. They may give higher preference to these people... I have been just writing that I have the strong desire to become an osteopathic physician, so this school is a perfect fit for my long term goals. Trying not to just go through the highlights of the school’s curriculum and rewrite it... I’m taking it from a different angle… Hope it works!

Hey Everyone,

I am a rising senior applying in this cycle... very exciting and congratulations to all of you! Just wanted to ease every ones nerves a little bit, a pre health advisor at my school came back from a conference and let this years applicants know that as of June 15th only around 3,000 people had submitted their primary to AACOMS so if you haven't applied or haven't received secondaries don't worry you are still DEFINITELY in the first wave of people considering tens of thousands of people apply every cycle!

Best of Luck

I enjoyed this book. It is actually very interesting regardless of any bias towards osteopathic medicine.

I am reading this currently (after hearing about it on SDn a few weeks ago lol) and its pretty good. It will give you something to write about in secondaries

bump.

emno and arti, you were looking for this.

Hello, count me in for this cycle too 😀 good luck everyone!!!

Accepted! LECOM!

When do I change my status from Pre-Med to medical student?

The consensus on here seems to be not until you actually start.

Congrats! Are you still going to all your other interviews?

Thank you! Yes I am, actually LECOM is on the lower end of my wish list..
