Does getting a c- in orgo 2 mean that i did not complete the prereq requirements??
 
hi ppl quick question. they don't have my major for the choices in the aacomas application. (i'm biomedical science btw) would you put premedical or preprofessional?

p.s. anyone know off hand if nutrition is considered science?

Under AACOMAS app instructions I think it was page 25 under "Prerequisites" it states...

"AACOMAS only verifes grades of C (not C-) or better to meet prerequisites. Some colleges will accept C- grades to meet prerequisities please check with the individual college."

This was the reason why I'm retaking it and of course to raise my gpa but I'm wondering when it says only verifies a grade of C, if I plan to take the class during Fall 2010 do I not get verified until after the new grades come in?

I think maybe emailing them about this would be good. If I hear anything I'll post it on here

Quick question, fellow applicants!

If I am retaking a course after graduating college but at a different institution, how do I list that on the AACOMAS application?

What aacomas said when I emailed them.

You will be verified but the C- grades will not meet prerequisites. Colleges may choose to accept them, but the overall verification will not accept C- grades as meeting prereqs. This message was sent through Interfolio. If you have a question please contact Interfolio or the sender.

Yeah i asked the same question and got basically the same response. I tried e-mailing a few schools also but no response yet. In regards to the other poster.. my school let us by with a c- if your orgo1/2 grades average above a c (i got an a in orgo 1). the first summer session starts tomorrow so i'm really trying to get this all figure out. If anyone knows any specific schools that will take C- plesae let me know. Thanks!

mark the first course as a retake and the 2nd as retake future. note: i have no idea if this class exists, but by the sounds of it, it would suck.

anyone submit yet? I have basically everything filled out but haven't gotten the courage to hit submit yet. I keep relooking at everything in case I made a mistake or forgot something. it's still early so I dont think submitting within the next few weeks will make much of a difference

I was about to ask the same question haha

I'm going to finish my extracurricular activity descriptions tonight, read them over one last time tomorrow morning, and then submit.

Nice, so you already see your GPA as calculated by AACOMAS? I submitted yesterday as well, and have not seen my verified GPAs yet.
 
before i was verified they showed what the gpa was after they made the changes that they wanted to. now it just shows all the courses listed with the grade etc, but not the total gpa's. i just plugged the grades into a spreadsheet and figured it out though.
 
REeally??? That blows. I got a C- in Organic Chem 2, but just figured I would apply to 16 schools that dont require a C or higher for pre-reqs...and then retake Ochem2 and finish it by end August.

So are you saying that I wont be able to apply to any DO schools until my OChem2 is done with a better grade?

What I understand is that you can apply, and they will verify your application. It's just that the C- will not count as completing pre-reqs, so you will have to retake the class before beginning medical school.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
 
No, I haven't submitted it yet. My spring quarter won't be over until Mid-June (thus I haven't even sent my transcript yet). So I have more time to make sure everything is fine. 😛 Well, everything else is done though.

you need to do the leg work on that and check the CIB.


i finally found a DO and i'm meeting with him Monday! whew!
 
I've also been verified, since the day I submitted (seconds after it opened). But they have not sent it to any schools yet. Has anyones been sent out?

You can submit your primary to aacomas but you need to send in an updated transcript once your retake is finished

Every medical school requires you to take orgo 2 as far as I know. Bio 1/2, gen chem 1/2, and orgo 1/2 are all prereq's. did you do okay on the mcat without orgo2?

I submitted mine anyway, once its in it stops me from worrying. Plus I'm hoping they'll review everything else and then finish processing upon receipt of my final transcript with 1 stinking grade on it. 🙄 I'll be overnighting that likely on the 14th so it should be there on the 15th. The 30 dollars to overnight it is worth it to me to have this all over and done with.

I'm applying to MD schools also. I think for AMCAS, they are not going to send the apps to schools until June 25th. Maybe DO schools are the same? (I surely hope so but I'm not sure.)
 
I'm technically taking one summer school course this summer (post-bac). Should I put this on my AACOMAS application? I don't want to delay processing of my application until August, when the grades would be available. I figure it's safe to just say on the secondaries "by the way, I took summer school, and I received X grade, fwd'd to your offices" ... right? Haven't called AACOMAS yet, they're always closed by the time I get around to calling. Stupid PST/EST thing 😀

I'm doing the same thing, retaking a class, technically its post bacc since i graduated in the spring. list it down as in progress and you can still get verified just send in an updated transcript once the class is completed

My AMCAS already says they have sent it out to the schools. It's weird that they put that memo up today, but they already processed and sent mine on June 1st...

mine says current status: verified, however all of my release dates simply say status: submitted to aacomas. anyone know what that means/what the next step is?

Mine says the same thing. I think it means that they will wait and maybe send them out in batches soon. I hope next week though!

well if its anything like AMCAS they will send them out all at once around June 25th. i believe thats how it works at least.
 
Hey guys, I read somewhere on this forum that we can submit the application to one school before the MCAT to avoid wasting money and then add more later, but that you can't edit the application for the schools added later. Does this mean we can't send updayed transcripts and stuff? I am not entirely clear on that explanation. And I'm taking the MCAT in july but want to start getting verified.

Also, metaphysical art theory sounds like a cool but hard class 😉
 
I'm pretty sure you can update it any time... send a message to the support staff on the aacomas app website, they have been really helpful and have gotten back to me pretty quickly
 
MCAT is going bad, I keep getting 24s on my practice tests and my test date is on the 17th of this month! Might have to push it back a month.

Do what you need to do. It's not worth it to take it, stop studying and then have to restudy afterwards.


What's the consensus with using very similar (i.e. almost identical) essays for AZCOM's and CCOM's secondaries, since they ask the same questions?

I’m going to use the same essays... They ask the exact same questions! Plus I don’t think they will see each others secondaries, in the past they didn’t share any of the information I sent to either of them (like LORs and stuff).

I hear ya, my last final isn't until Thursday. Hoping to overnight the transcript from Ca on Monday. :laugh: I won't be completely verified until probably Late June.

I already submitted and they sent me an e-mail saying they were missing a transcript. I was like... well no crap the classes aren't done yet :laugh:
 
I'm submitted, verified, and released to two schools already! Good luck, everyone! This process is nerve-wracking.

If you don't think you are ready I would def change the test date... try to take a day of two off of studying it might relax you so you won't make silly mistakes
 
Thanks noshie! If you don't mind me asking, what types of things will you focus on in their "Why should we accept you into this years class?" question? It's open-endedness is killing me!
