Class of 2015... How ya doing?

I submitted my rank list this morning. It's a little different for lab animal since we interview with programs so we already know who's interested or not. Out of 10 I ranked 3. Honestly, I'll be happy to be accepted anywhere on Match Day. Now the waiting begins for board results and match, eek.

Just out of wild curiosity, I wonder if anyone who applies for residency ever fails (NAVLE) boards. I sorta feel like the residency-bound people aren't the ones who would fail. Us non-residency/internship-bound people, on the other hand.......

Wow. It must just be really random who manages to not pass. Great. Super encouraging.

I'm surprised that people who would even end up matching would fail. Just sorta suggests this test is as dumb as we all say it is. I'm not really sure what it actually tested.

Have to admit, I have heard that before: that it's often people you wouldn't expect (either way).

I'll be honest: I would be happy to be one of the people who pass ... and people are surprised.

All three of my interviews asked if I took the NAVLE with the unspoken "you need to pass it." Only one outright said that residencies start in July to give people time to retake if necessary.
 
I submitted my rank list and left off a few programs that I didn't bother to contact and hadn't heard anything from. Then, not 1 minute later, I learned that one of those programs called one of my references and apparently sounded interested. lol. Good job, universe. Nice joke.
 
After absolutely no interviews from any of my residencies, and not a whisper of interest, I withdrew from the Match today. Not gonna lie, my confidence suffered a huge hit. I have a few leads in private practice in my home province so we'll see how that pans out.

Hang in there. One of our top surgeons likes to remind people it took her three years to get in. Sorry it didn't work out this go-around though. 🙁

I'm sorry. 🙁 That's so disappointing. There is more out there. Might not be Plan A but you will find your spot and make the best of it!
 
Hey there! I'm a newly graduate vet from Europe and I've applied for a couple of SA rotating internships through the VIRMP.. and this waiting is killing me :arghh::hungover:

Haha! It was in the afternoon that portal was opened, so maybe just a few more hours!!!
 
At least they nicer than California. We got an email today titles "NAVID & NAVLE SCORES" with no such scores. Rude! 😛

Yeah. What momentarily sent many of my classmates' heart rates through the roof was the SUBJECT line of that email that said "NAVLE Score Reporting and Score Portal Information"....... all at once in anesthesia there was a big flurry as people got the mistaken impression that scores were posted.

Sigh.

A classmate posted on Facebook about NAVLE scores when she got that email, which subsequently gave the rest of us heart attacks. Especially the Canadians who didn't get that email. I told her never to mention NAVLE scores on Facebook unless she's actually gotten a score.

.... and even then, never mention it on Facebook. One of my classmates was rolling into surgery just as the scuttlebutt started off. He spent the next few hours thinking his score was waiting for him. Poor guy. I, of course, not being scrubbed in, promptly walked out of surgery to figure out what was what. 🙂

Uh. Come to think of it, I never did get back in there to tell him. I ended up busy with paperwork-ish kind of things. And when I did get back into OR, it turned into a half hour of wildly inappropriate innuendo-laced jokes that totally took my mind off it.

Oops.
