i used to think that, but i have a few guy friends that i would live with in a heartbeat. we aren't going to jump each others' bones, we get along really well, and it wouldn't be awkward to bring other people back at night.

I agree that it would be weird. I'd have to have absolutely no attraction to a female roomate. . . not even if I had a couple beers.

see this is how i thought at first. but okay, really, would it be that weird? can't we keep ourselves under control?

it's not like we're going to be parading around in our underwear all the time.
 
the only way i'd do that, is if i knew the girl since childhood or something, and saw her as a sister or something like that.

otherwise, it's way too tempting to just make a move on her - which is fine, but strange considering the intention was to be friends when you moved in.

Unless this is the new dating trend of the 21st century. move in as friends --> then start dating

edit: lol i think that's how arranged marriages work in india.

actually it would be nice if u found each other sexually attractive. could make for a really convenient situation. sex doesn't have to be complicated. Its like doing anything u both enjoy like playing hockey....except ya.

little do you know that i used to figure skate. although actual lake skating is kind of scary to me.

little do u kno that the skates i give u will have rusty blades.:laugh:
I have a lake in my backyard that freezes over during the winter. its really great. nothing to be scared of, except sometimes the ice alligators break through the surface and attack Humans. especially pre-meds they love the taste of neurotic ppl

as long as there are ppl around u'll be okay. Happened to my friend once in grade 6 while tobogganing. We pulled him out and dragged him on the sled to some rando house and they warmed him up with CANADIAN kindness.

but if the alligators get u, scream "I'm a history major!" and they will kick u out bcuz they feel ur contaminating their waters with ur boring personality.

edit: i should mention that we check how deep the ice is b4 we get on. so ur more likely to get hit by ufo garbage then fall in.
 
If I get in to UCF, my sister and her two friends are renting a house and have saved a room for me haha

If UofL, I have a friends that go there and are staying (masters, etc)

Anywhere else, I'd like to room up with other med students but in a house, maybe an apartment. I want to meet more people than I know now, I live so far from my school I'm never up by my friends.
 
nice lol. I wouldnt mind rooming with a non med student. I may actually prefer it. I def dont want my only friends wherever i go to be meds. I need some normal simple ppl in my life.

Yea, at UCF, my sister is in information technology (security) and will probably go for her master, one of her friends is in ROTC, and her other friend is planning on getting her doctorate in microbiology

might be harder than you think from what i gather.
 
I think you are basically forced to live with a med student since your lifestlye is going to be far far different then anyone else. The only exception being if you are married or live with a bf/gf/whatever. Me personally im probably going to live off campus. but if i go to school that has some good on housing id take that. Dorm is a big no for me though.

Even if the non med roomie brings over friends I dont see anything wrong with that. I'd probably study at a library anyway, and it would be a good way to meet more ppl as well.

well i have a kid so dorms are ruled out lol 😉...but if i was single id still not dorm. Just dont like it.
 
Yea, I'm not a huge fan of dorms either. The good thing about the people I would live with in Orlando, for one, they all aren't partiers and are quiet people, and one is in rotc and from when my sister was in it, they're gone by 5-6 in the morning everyday, aren't back till night, and usually sleep when they can.

any of y'all reapplicants? honestly, this upcoming cycle is my first and only shot, i think. i'm going to just lay it all on the table and see what comes of it and move on.

Word. She refused to walk without support. The fluid in her ears was throwing off her balance. Today, after her nap, she's walked about 4 times unassisted. SO proud. Talk about immediate results!

And bleargh, I'm not a re-applicant, but a friend of mine didn't manage to get off a WL last cycle and I believe is applying again.

I'm not a reapplicant, hoping to not have to reapply again. I know I don't have a ton of clinical hours or shadowing, and who knows how my mcat is gonna go, but hopefully I have enough overall things and am a decent interviewee that I'll atleast get in somewhere, and one is all it takes

Let's see which thread dies in a heartbeat in the fall of this year.

Go look at the first 1-15 pages of the c/o 2014 thread, at least 80% of those posts are by c/o 2013 people. They helped you guys get the thread post count up.

When I made this thread, there was 1 INTENSE 3 hour span of 2014ers hating, and then the 2014 contributions largely fizzled out.

If anything, Elijah, you and your pals should post more often in here.

So I've been hitting a buttload of road blocks with trying to get some more volunteering on my app. I have been meaning to do it for awhile but just never got around to it (I have about 100 hours at a cat shelter from earlier in college). People have either not been getting back to me, or I find out about an opportunity RIGHT after the deadline. The only thing I heard back from, the hours aren't great for me (it's only for about two hours in the afternoon, and my husband doesn't get home until halfway through). Ugh!

Well, my local library does this GED volunteer tutor program that sounds awesome. The guy called me back today and is sending me the literature. The training weekend is in March, and I plan on continuing for at least a year. I'm excited!

I haven't been back volunteer at the hospital since November 🙁 I've been so busy, almost taking the mcat and such, that I just couldn't get back (volunteering since May there). I'm going to try to transfer to the downtown hospital (same system) so a friend who wants to volunteer there can help me pay for gas 👍 I have about 80 clinical volunteer hours :-\ only shadowed one doctor...I feel behind. Whatever, I got some time left haha, I'm hoping I can shadow a few more, get atleast 100 hours, and my other ecs with help carry me too. Man, I need to relax some.
 
Coffee is good stuff. It's got flavanoids and antioxidants and phytochemicals (i think). I drink at least 2 cups a day. Coffee is the only thing that makes me get up at the crack of dawn. Caffeine isn't bad for you in moderation either. MSG is the stuff you want to avoid.

So, drink it up, i raelly dont know why coffee gets the bad rap? while tea is considered some kind of fountain of youth lol

oh yea, and about the test, don't sweat it.

edit: just realized, the reason coffee gets a bad rap is cause caffeine is apparently addicting. i don't really notice this addictive effect tho, anyone else?
