More productive than me Hoody, I'm encountering a serious procrastination issue on this 2 page paper I have due tomorrow... Seriously it's only 2 pages, but I just can't bring myself to write it.

Procrastination is a serious understatement for what this week has been. School/work has been canceled all week due to the weather and I haven't done a damn thing.
 
It's always easy things that get me, If it had been 15 pages I'd have gotten it done days ago...

I'm in Austin, so it's been "professor discretion" as to whether to cancel class even though we have no snow/ice... I had a class canceled on Wednesday with an email that literally said "It's cold! See you next week!"

thats funny lol, i remember in first year i was heading to calc class and i got to the door and there was just a paper that said "professors get hang-overs too... Class Canceled" made my day.

its because you got into med school and you know that even if u pull a ****ty grade on this 2 page assignment it wont matter in the slightest.

i know this because im having the same awesome problem.

Haha..I guess I "paid for admission" to these group chats with my scandalousness. :O

On a more geeky note, I'm backing up data from my desktop and laptop computers to prepare them for a Windows Vista to Windows 7 transition! Woot!! I'm half-excited, half nervous. I bought new HDDs from Amazon tonight and they should arrive tomorrow/saturday and then I can start the process of "having a new computer" for the next few (hopefully four!) years.

Hopefully the fact that my desktop is turning 4 this year and my laptop is turning 3 this year won't mean that this update will result in either a slower computer or a computer that "so old" that it won't last for another 4 years.. *fingers crossed*

Anyway I made the best tacos last night. I use ground turkey for all my ground beef needs nowadays. It requires about 4x the spice to make it taste the same, but in the end its waaaaay healthier. Your thoughts ppl on the ground gobble-gobble meat?

Bird good, cow bad. I stay away from carbs as much as possible.
 
I've tried using ground turkey as a substitute for ground beef and yeah, I had to spice the hell out of it to get any taste out of it. Still prefer ground beef. I usually go for the supreme lean ground beef, though.
 
Snow Day! Well... most people would just call it winter, its all of... 2 inches of snow?

I had two snow days and I did absolutely nothing. It was wonderful.

From what I understand, Windows 7 might actually help speed up your computer. I can't remember all the details, but I think it has something to do with the way it utilizes the processes.

I use turkey burger a lot and I don't really notice the taste difference. I usually use taco season for taco's and make my own seasoning for spaghetti, so it could be part of it.

So, last night, had spaghetti squash with alfredo and sundried tomatoes and basil. SO GOOD. I'm going to make it and add artichokes.
 
My students are cranky today. 😡

Heyyy can I join you guys? I love artichokes too! I had this restaurant I used to order amazing fresh artichokes from in cali. It's really hard to get good ones where i live now

I've tried using it a few times, but it always is really tough and stays uber-clumped together. I'm not sure if this is because I usually just keep it in the freezer for a long time before I use it though.

But turkey burgers are so delish! The first time I had one I was expecting it to taste exactly like a hamburger, so I was a bit disappointed. But now I've grown to love them for their different taste. Mmmm.

I'm pretty sure adding sundried tomatoes + basil + artichokes to anything makes it 1000 times better. I keep a huge jar of artichoke hearts from costco in my fridge and use it up pretty quickly.

Also, I love when this thread revolves around food. 😀

turkey meat is good for sure, but so is the super lean beef like i think mau said. if you blend the two then you don't have use quite as much seasoning as you would with just turkey, but still get the health benefits of it not being all red meat.
 
vege patties are good stuff too. I've never bought them from the store, but the restaurant ones taste well.

I had P.F. Changs yesterday. It was all yummy.
 
I do both....eat them and cook them with stuff. And I love that this thread is all foody, too. Shout out to Cougs and Ducky for their cooking, and GC for her awesome foody links. 👍


I agree about the difficulty of finding good fruit/vege's. Whole Foods is alight, but its only like a 50% chance that you find something that tastes as good as it looks.


My employer had issues with payroll today. Apparently they are going to have it fixed by Monday, and pay bank fee's that anyone occurred. I just checked I am like -700! 😱
 
We are going to see three houses this weekend. Two of which we've seen in the past week, one we haven't seen before. The two we've seen are less expensive, and we know the sellers are both motivated, but they need some updating. The other one has been updated but is above our budget. That said, it has been on the market for almost 5 months and my realtor thinks she can talk them down, but they haven't dropped their price by one red cent in that time so I'm not as hopeful.

I don't know how handy you or your hubby are at fixing things, but I just wouldn't want that looming over me while starting school. It could turn into a big mess.

Try for the higher one. Or keep searching. :xf:
