Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We are going to see three houses this weekend. Two of which we've seen in the past week, one we haven't seen before. The two we've seen are less expensive, and we know the sellers are both motivated, but they need some updating. The other one has been updated but is above our budget. That said, it has been on the market for almost 5 months and my realtor thinks she can talk them down, but they haven't dropped their price by one red cent in that time so I'm not as hopeful.
I don't know what your price range is, but submit an offer ~5% below what they're currently asking. If someone offered us the same deal, we'd probably take it right now.

If I could be any race, I'd be native american. For the hair.

I'd be asian. For the music/video game/ninja skills. But I'd be half caucasian for the cauc- part and so that I could have some hair. <3

I don't know how handy you or your hubby are at fixing things, but I just wouldn't want that looming over me while starting school. It could turn into a big mess.

Try for the higher one. Or keep searching. :xf:

Hubs is pretty handy (though a bit rusty, as it's not like we can do much with an apartment), and my dad made me help him around the house when I was a kid so I'm not helpless when it comes to home improvement stuff. That said, we definitely don't want a whole lot of work, with medical school and a new baby by the end of the year.

One of the cheaper houses is back on the market after their buyer's financing fell through, and they were FHA, like we are. The house passed the FHA approval/appraisal, and it happened RIGHT before closing and now the sellers, who moved out, are really motivated. If I had to guess, I think we may wind up putting an offer on that one if it appears the sellers of the more updated house are unwilling to budge.

We really, REALLY like that area, though. The houses are well layed-out, it's a cute neighborhood, it is close to a major city park, easy to get to school, there is at least one well-reviewed daycare within walking distance, etc. I can PM you pics if you want, Hoody. 🙂

Our budget is less than 5% below their asking price, our max is about 8 below asking. Our realtor thinks we can get it for less than that, I think. We'll see.

I forgot to mention I spent a few hours this morning with Cougs and it was amazing! We just talked and talked and had delicious lunch! YUM! 🙂

Oh and her dog was so affectionate!

I'm a complete asian fail by your standards---I do not have any musical, video game, or ninja skills...CougarMD will probably vouch for me when I say that. I have to say though, I do have facial and body hair...maybe that's TMI for some (and thankfully for her sake, Cougs can't really speak to that...)

👎rolleyes: fail. :meanie: Just kidding, those stereotypes are mainly because of the culture and not the genetics (except the hair one... to which you are an exception).

I totally have video game, musical, and ninja skills.. not even kidding.

you can always count on the harvard thread for the lols
What an inappropriate thread for that discussion. I really don't think lots of the harvard-thread types actually end up with interviews there though... the harvard people were all really sociable, interesting, and well-rounded when I met them.

Ah ok. Good luck! With the way the market is right now, it truly is a buyer's market, and I know that we should have accepted 10% off of our initial list price.

This paints a ... rather unflattering mental image.

I have music/VG/ninja skills, but I'm not asian. Or hairy.

I prayed to the Flying Spaghetti Monster every night in the hopes that he would DIAF.

Working in a hospital has gotten me pretty good at acronyms. DIAF = Die In A Fire?

I do both....eat them and cook them with stuff. And I love that this thread is all foody, too. Shout out to Cougs and Ducky for their cooking, and GC for her awesome foody links. 👍

I agree about the difficulty of finding good fruit/vege's. Whole Foods is alight, but its only like a 50% chance that you find something that tastes as good as it looks.

My employer had issues with payroll today. Apparently they are going to have it fixed by Monday, and pay bank fee's that anyone occurred. I just checked I am like -700! 😱
Speaking of food....anyone have a bomb-ass yellow cake recipe by any chance? I need it for my friend's B-Day on Monday🙂

Heyyy can I join you guys? I love artichokes too! I had this restaurant I used to order amazing fresh artichokes from in cali. It's really hard to get good ones where i live now

This really made me laugh. You don't even know how right you are.
I finally got this.

My dog is a total attention *****. I don't know where she gets it from.

Also....I wish I had taken you to work with me🙂 I was barely there three hours. And then I went shopping 😛

Also, for the record...I actively did not act like a Cougar last night. You would all be proud of me. I resisted temptation.

Haha...I don't know where she gets it either, but it's cute lol. I totally would have gone shopping with you! It'd have been fun, even with my cheap self. 😛

I can also vouch (at least based on the story I was told) that she did not act like a cougar, and I really commend her for it..because god only knows with that kind of temptation, anyone would have wanted to go for it. I wanted to go for it whilst listening to her story! lol. SO JEALOUS!

Also, I am reallly confused by what Suncrusher meant! Unless it is what I thought it meant...*giggles because it's true!*

Speaking of dogs, my roommate's dog just pissed on my lady friend's snuggie that she left at my place. It wasn't a direct hit, but def some splash collateral damage.

Option 1: Do laundry

Option 2: Don't say anything

How wrong is it that I'm leaning towards option 2?

I'd throw out the snuggie even if the dog hadn't peed on it

I'm also not particulary sure I ever got a clear-cut answer haha...

*cough*

Let's change the subject. You know what I miss? The in my pants game. It's where you take the title of the song you are listening to and add "in my pants" to the end of it

e.g. A toast to bad taste in my pants

now you guys try 😀

umm, my yellow cake recipe is from my friend Betty Crocker and comes in a box. 😳

I prayed to the Flying Spaghetti Monster every night in the hopes that he would DIAF.

Didn't we all.

I usually do this with fortune cookies, but songs work too.

The last song I listened to when I was out last night was Down On Me... In My Pants

Buffalo Soldier... in my pants. That's right 😎 God we have a good streak going ppl!

Met another "I'm going to school to be an anesthesiologist." (freshman or sophomore undergraduate) last night. ugh.

My buddy and I had this cute girl in our Physics I class who was supremely struggling. In an effort to get into her pants, we offered to tutor her. I asked her what she wanted to do after school she said. "I don't want to go to medical school, I'm going to be a dermatologist!"
My face did this
😱 ---> :eyebrow: ---> :smack:

She failed that #(*$ing Physics I class too. Wonder if anyone bothered to tell her that her "dream" was a bit harder to achieve than she thought it would be .

I said he had to go to medical school first, and he looked confused. I said it again, and he said "yeah, that's where you get the -ology part."

😕

So what? You can be an anesthesi------ after undergrad?

I noticed, though, that it's a hell of a lot more "confident-sounding" to say that than to say "I'm applying to medical school now." Regardless of the truth of the matter, one is exciting because "he's gonna be an anesthesiologist!!" instead of "he will soon go to a med school he hasn't decided on yet." haha.

Yeah, but I think its more to do with the rest of the population's lack of understanding about what it takes to become a doctor. If I hear a pre-med say "I'm going to become a neurosurgeon" I  because I know that there are so many hurdles between now and the time it comes to apply to residency that there is no guarantee that: A) said pre-med will make it into medical school at all, or B) has the academic prowess for neurosurgery or C) doesn't defect to another specialty between now and then. But people in the rest of the world see someone say that and they think "wow, that guy knows what he wants to do and has ambition."

By the way, I'm starting to see why some people call it the "MCATs". Its referred to as that in Nip/Tuck and Meet the Parents, and its not like those two were popular or anything 🙄. @&#!ing entertainment industry.

The last song I played in iTunes was "If You Find Yourself Caught In" [My Pants].

Works for book titles, too. (skip to about 1:27)

I always enjoyed the fortune cookie rule of adding "in bed" at the end.

Today is a lucky day for those who remain cheerful and optimistic... in bed.

It is much wiser to take advice than to give it... in bed.

The skills you have gathered will one day come in handy... in bed.

You will be wise not to seek too much from others... in bed.

Ride the Lightning in my pants

Metallica ftw

I just realized I've been using shaving cream for girls legs on my face for the past week... that's why my skin is so soft and smooth!!! Actually, I kinda like it better. Is that weird?

Most guys I've been with have appropriated my shave stuff. I think girl shave stuff is just better🙂 Including the fact that we change razors more often, generally.

Hey coug, I just saw your location... Did you go to UCSB by any chance?

The Magnolia cupcake recipe that Ducky showed me that I made for Chicklet's birthday can me made in cake-form as well. It was SOOOOO good, Cougs.

👍 I swear I have seen some fortunes that are totally written with that in mind.

I didn't....I wish I had though. That campus is beautiful.

I would have become a total alcoholic if I'd gone there though🙂

Yeah I kinda wish UCSB had a med school, but then realized it's better that they don't for the same reason.

UCSB is so gorgeous! I live semi-close by, and my little sister is a sophomore there. I'm pretty jealous that she looks out of her apartment window and sees the ocean.

Um... have you ever had it?

Also, LEUnit, is that your kiddo in your avatar? I love the Batman cape.

Never had it, but all my friends and the internet seem to be crazy about it..

He's my nephew when I babysit him. He's my son when I'm at the mall. 🙂
