Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We are putting an offer in tonight unless something terribad is revealed about the house.
YAY!!! I hope you don't find any dead bodies hidden in the wall panels during the inspection. I always feel bad for people that that happens to on House Hunters. :d
Also, being intelligent isn't necessarily bonus points for the opposite sex because (as SDN shows) intelligent people are often really sarcastic and stubborn. I like my girls nice and easily influenced. :meanie:
If you don't like sarcasm I'm probably your worst nightmare.
So basically you just said that everyone here is either not really smart, not really hot, or has a bad personality? If we can't figure out which must apply to us, does that automatically place us in the dumb but hot category
Hey, I'll take it.
Also, good med school-related news today!! :soexcited:
Spill! Gchat tonight?

got a fat envelope from one of my top choice schools....with nothing about their medical school.

wow what a tease

YAY Congrats Whimsy!!!

Ah I haven't been linked to one of those gems in awhile. I'll let you know when I do, though.

Ah, Cougs, I'm glad you found the humor in it.
I mostly see women who are like "oh, noooooo, I could never take a tylenol, or eat sushi, or drink iced tea, or have a diet coke, or eat shrimp, or do ANYTHING during my pregnancy that isn't natural"

Then, 5 mins after they get into the hospital: "Can I have my epidural now, please?"
(Please refer to bleargh's avatar).

Note: I don't give a CRAP if people get epidurals. I just care that they don't actually know what they are signing up for.

anyone know what whiplash is supposed to be like?
You will probably pretty constant soreness in your neck, could experience some numbness or tingling in your hands, pain when you turn your head side to side or flex/extend, headaches.

Like all spine stuff, the symptoms are a little different on everyone. For me it resulted in a high occurrence of migraines for a few months and eye fatigue.
This makes me really sad
I think it is twofold....one is that cakemix is actually not as horrible as you think it is, especially when you doctor it, and two is that people's tastes have changed and they are used to cake mix.
This page is hilarious!

We are putting an offer in tonight unless something terribad is revealed about the house.
Woohoo!!!!!!! Fingers crossed for no poltergeists.

I end up going to some movies by myself, too. The majority of people don't agree with my taste in movies, so whenever I bring people to movies I really want to see, they usually don't like it (I've even had friends want me to refund their ticket money)

So basically you just said that everyone here is either not really smart, not really hot, or has a bad personality? If we can't figure out which must apply to us, does that automatically place us in the dumb but hot category
I am automatically placing myself in the smart with an awesome personality category.

wow what a tease

About a month or so ago, I had a large envelope come in from a school at which I'm deferred (not rejected, not accepted, not wait-listed, just...punted). Thanks to the magic of SDN, I knew to expect it as financial aid forms...but there was still a part of me that held out some irrational hope.

Not cool, school. Not cool.

We need some icebreaker questions. There are some new people in here like LEUNIT that need to pony up some personal information.

I was never gone yo

If someone were looking for you in a supermarket, which aisle/section would they find you in?
Produce, for sure.

I go straight back to produce at Costco, even

I'm that weirdo that is sniffing melons and squeezing mandarins and pulling leaves out of pineapples. For a long long time.

I was never gone yo

well I know you were gone for the weekend (right?) I hadn't seen you post for a while. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

As to the icebreaker, I'd I'd probably be going back and forth between a bunch of aisles: produce, snacky foods, cereal, the dairy aisle. Even when I go to the same grocery store I usually do, I seem to forget where things are (or what I'm looking for). Meh.

Would it be a bad to call a school for an update on my status? It's been like 3 months. I called them last week and they said something about a backlog, but this is getting ridiculous.

Do it. Tell them how interested you are in them to stroke their ego a bit.

I probably spend the most time in the cereal aisle (it's a big decision) but runners up are produce and the baking aisle 🙂

"In many ways, Bob's Big Boy never left, sir. He's always offered the same high-quality meals at competitive prices." (Everything's always a line with me.)

If someone were looking for you in a supermarket, which aisle/section would they find you in?

Dairy / frozen / meats. Anywhere but the actual aisles themselves for the most part.

I kind of want to do that with one of the schools I'm still waiting on, but I dread being chided for wasting their time when the online status thingy seems to work just fine.

The beer section and the Asian section. But not the Asian Beer section. Eww.

My first thought was "you clearly don't live in Pennsylvania." My second thought was "I've never tried Asian beers." lol.

If you had use one or two magazines to make a collage to illustrate your life, what magazines would you use?

Popular Electronics and JPG Magazine, to highlight two of my passions.

And to toss in another question: if you've ever taken the Myers-Briggs, what's your type? Me: INFP.

Just kicked my roommate out of my house. Found out she's been lying to me for months about wanting to stay in the house once I left for med school. Then lied about her SSI not coming in so I would feel bad for her and give her a break on rent for a month...when she was actually saving up to try to move out and leave me in a lurch with bills.

Got so angry I told her to be out by Friday. Now I'm busy deciding if I should 1) Be happy because my life will be less stressed at home
or
2) Be upset about having to pay more for bills sooner

:wtf: That sucks. I enjoy living alone though, so I choose the be happy option. 👍

Is this the crazy chick with the killer dog?

Good riddance.

And to toss in another question: if you've ever taken the Myers-Briggs, what's your type? Me: INFP.
I've taken it twice with the full day-long seminars. I'm ESTJ (nicknamed "Life's Natural Administrators") with 100% T and J.

Maubs, INFP is "Making Life Kinder and Gentler" and is also my MBTI polar opposite. Maybe that's why you failed the gchat admission test

If anyone else knows their letters I can tell you your nickname.

I'm INTJ, but that's weak because I'm usually about 50/50 on the first two letters. I bet it depends on my mood.

Do I get a nickname?

I go through so much cereal, I don't have to live with my decisions for too long lol.

IDK what the Penn thing means?

Nice!

ENTJ usually. Imma baws.

Drama! Sounds like a good call though.

WE MUST KUNG-FU FIGHT!

No, but seriously, that's kind of funny. It's been ages since I took it, but I doubt I've changed much since those heady days of my youth. I scored strongly on introversion but middle-of-the-road on N/S and F/T.

I doubt it explains any perceived failure to meet the rigors of admission. 😛

Fire away; I have nothing to hide. You don't scare me, CougarMD.. you ain't got no pancake mix!

I"m INTJ too, but i'm 50/50 on all of them.

I'm INTJ too, but a bit more pronounced than 50/50. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastermind_(role_variant) 😕 I r jeenyuss?
INTJs are "Life's Independent Thinkers." The TJ part is the biggest personality determiner as far as I'm concerned so we're all pretty similar 🙂

ENTJ is what everyone on my exec board wanted because ENTJs are "Life's Natural Leaders." I actually think I got ENTJ the first time I took the test but the "sensing" N turned to a "perceiving" S pretty significantly.
I'm ENFJ.
Heck yeah you are Cougs... ENFJs are "Smooth-talking Persuaders"

Wow, wooooooooosh! I read this thread and was wondering why everyone was posting about food, abbreviations, and Kung-Fu fighting..

If someone were looking for you in a supermarket, which aisle/section would they find you in?

Produce. I love fruits.. oranges are so good, srsly.

If you had use one or two magazines to make a collage to illustrate your life, what magazines would you use?

ESPN/Men's Health. Yeah, I'm that guy.

ISTJ. Not sure what this means..

Edit: I just looked up the "portrait of an ISTJ." So accurate, it's scary..

Your avatar says it all. 👍
I keep wanting to change it, but I can't think of anything more appropriate lol. Unfortunately, there's another SDNer with him as an avatar, as well.
PA has a history of not allowing beer sales in groceries/supermarkets. But I guess the availability of cheap Yuengling kind of makes up for that. mmmmmmmm...
Wow that's depressing. I buy my alcohol at Costco and at supermarkets (safeway/scolari's/walmart)

I'm not as definitively E as some people I know, although I think the M-B profile generally fits 🙂

That sounds so much like Cougs it's not even funny =P

ISTJ = Life's Natural Organizers... I'm assuming your closet is neat and arranged by color? 😛

😱

White, black, grey, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple to be exact..

Not even kidding..

Here's an ice breaker:

Are you a new or used car person? (I understand this is a function of priorities)

Depending on where I end up, I'm looking at buying a "new" car. The decision is pretty much either a 3-4 year old nice used car with 30-50k miles or an alright new car (but that means nice warranty and stuff!) I don't trust my current car for a cross-country trip (190k miles) and I don't want to drive it in climes more snowy than my own. 5 years with RWD and no traction control through snow is good enough, time to get something that's more worry free.

When you look up my birthday in a The Birthday Book (astrology) my day is "The Day of the Convincing Storyteller" 🙂

New....because I like to run cars into the ground. I have had three cars in my life. One was then passed down to my brother. One was totaled (NOT my fault....someone hit me when I was in the car but wasn't moving) and the one I drive now that I plan to drive until it falls apart beneath me.

Speaking of which...I need an oil change.....

Jeez, there's a lot of you thinker-judgers. 😛 Well, this clearly indicates I was meant to be a doctor.

In retrospect, I should have put that on my application. (In addition to having played a priest in WoW for a few years. Does that count as clinical experience?)

As for new versus used cars, I like to go with new, though I've only bought one car using my own means so far in life and I hope to not need to get another one anytime soon. (I love my car too much.) I can't see myself purchasing used, though I could go certified pre-owned.

Flow, for you I would think a 3-4 year old used car would be acceptable. Guess it depends on your budget and needs.

Ok, so here's another icebreaker question: what song, if it played over your car stereo, would most likely get you a speeding ticket?

No one in my immediate family has ever owned a new car - we usually buy them lightly used and keep them until they basically fall to pieces. So, I'm kind of biased towards used. None of us have ever had a problem, possibly because we're obsessive about researching them.

Really, though, it's up to you.

Are you a new or used car person? (I understand this is a function of priorities)

Used Hondas. 👍 Reliability. My current used Accord I bought with 100k miles on it for around $1-1.5k. I've put another 110k miles on it (some repairs, but not enough to justify a new car). I took it on a road trip across the country - works great. Also.... stick shifts.

what song, if it played over your car stereo, would most likely get you a speeding ticket?

Surprisingly when I listen to heavier, louder music I'm more attentive to my speed (I guess because I realize speeding as a possible side effect), but when I listen to mellow, easy listening stuff my foot turns to lead.

Used cars all the way. I get used Hondas or Toyotas and drive them into the ground and that's probably what I'll do for the rest of my life.
+1. though, it would be nice to venture to something made in germany one day.

i do love my honda.

At this point in my life, I think a "used nice car" would be ideal, so like an older, but higher end nameplate vehicle would be nice for me (within 5-6 years old with "low mileage"). In our household with four cars, we have half-used, half-new, simply due to timing/budget over the course of the years. I think it's always nice to get a higher end nameplate that has 1-2 years on it simply to shave off that initial depreciation that hits new cars. Also, I feel that you get more "value" with your dollar--like 15K on a new Corolla can also get you a very nice used car--say a 4 year old 25-30K higher end vehicle.

In terms of name plates, I'd go with Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus. The only issue with the Hondas/Acuras are their transmissions--some of the late 99-04 models of Hondas/Acuras with 5 speed auto transmissions have high failure rates. Take this from an owner of a 2001 Acura TL.
