haha, my life:

I'm finishing up a 12.5 hour shift at the hospital, going home to my son who has had a fever and cough for 3 days, and going to bed so I can get up for work on a saturday at 5 am.

Actually, I love my life, but this isn't the most awesome weekend.

I just finished a dinner in front of my computer because I got home late from a 3 hour session of setting up for my day tomorrow at research...which starts at 05:30 and ends at 10:30. 🙁
 
Well I had a fun Friday night--5 friends over for dinner and drinks--but then we were all so tired from long work days/weeks that everyone left around 9:30 and I was in bed by 10:15. I'm such a grandma.
 
Watching endless episodes of House and potluck dinners comprised my fri night haha

maybe I should just find a job? Orrr I can get used to this for the next few months....
 
I completed the LA bad traffic trifecta last night: Santa Monica, BH, and Hollywood. Now I'm feebly packing for Florida when I just want to go back to bed. 🙁

Question for you guys: has anyone used a good spreadsheet to map out how much debt they'll come out with, how much you'll need to pay each month in order to repay the debt in a certain number of years, etc? I'm about start doing this stuff to compare two schools (which will hopefully help me make a decision as to where to attend) and was wondering if anyone had links to a good Excel spreadsheet that already exists.

if you ask each school's financial aid office they'll give you that information. at least at my second look they went over it in great detail.

Yea, I have the tuition costs, COA, etc, for both schools. I'm planning on putting them in an Excel spreadsheet taking into account interest accumulation, various other costs, etc. It's not going to take much effort for me to do this from scratch, I know. I was just curious if a good one already existed on SDN (similar to the med school spreadsheet) that I missed. 🙂

you could probably find a calculator for that via google search too.

I just googles loan amortization table excel and found several templates to download. I don't know if that helps or not. I threw my figures into an accounting program, but a spreadsheet would be a great idea.

Good luck with your decision man! It's very commendable that you're giving long-term thought to your debt load...I haven't given it any thought, mostly bc my two choices are: 1) Very very very expensive school...or 2) very very cheap school (assuming an average of 40K/year tuition cost)

I wish I had the mental energy to figure this all out..I'm just going "blind" into medical school..whatever they ask me to pay is what I'll pay..assuming it's reasonable and will allow me a fairly quick payoff time..

Edit: Now I'm wondering if you were serious :|. I honestly don't think you're a jerk at all. Haven't been around for all of your conversations but I think you've tried to help whenever possible.

Plus you've given us all those hilarious memes!! Stressed out pre-meds would pay for that kind of entertainment 😉

medz, I read that post thinking the same thing... except it was way too confusing so I just gave up and assumed I was the good guy (whoever that may be between A, B, and C)

But of course in here, we all have the cool kid reputation to back it up... as long as we only wear pink on Thursdays.

I have decided I need to install a chip into my brain...and it will run Archer episodes nonstop. But only I will be able to see them. They will project in my eyes. I will laugh sometimes, seemingly for no reason, but I don't care.
 
Thanks for the welcome! It seems like you all have fun here, and I have already received a gem of a recommendation that is Archer on Netflix. I burned through 4 episodes tonight.

Ponytails are only acceptable once a week, even if you're in anatomy lab every day.
