Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Cougs, while reading your list I was reminded of those placemats at Chinese restaurants that describe the Chinese Zodiac. (Now all you have to do is list which other cupcakes we go well with and which ones would, together, just leave an unpleasant taste in one's mouth.)

American Vanilla
Deceptively simple and elegant. But everyone who bakes knows that TRUE vanilla is a complex flavor, and the good stuff is hard to find. Gets along well with everyone who is reasonable, but has many hidden (and not so hidden) depths.

Esteemed company, indeed. 👍

Ha! That would be awesome! I'm a Dog in the chinese zodiac, and my husband is a Cock. Neither one of us have the best names on that. I prefer cute puppy and rooster. 😀

Oooh, and FIRST. BAM!

Awwww, this is awesome! 😍

My answers in red.

You had me at "Tolkien" 😍

Espresso
The ultimate in uniqueness. It doesn't get any sexier or racier than this. These are the people who bring all the other cupcakes to the yard....they would teach you, but they'd have to charge.

I'm coming out of my thesis hell hiatus to say that I totally approve of this.

Before I read the entire list, my eyes went straight to the word "Espresso." It's morning and espresso is how I roll. Reading the rest I am flattered, and in very good company.

The whole list is excellent; this blows myers briggs out of the water.

so true, Cougs you rock

Cougs I'm just going to say it, if you don't put me in Ravenclaw we can't be friends anymore. 😡

...

...

😉
But seriously, put me in Ravenclaw

GC, I vaguely remember us discussing HP and that we'd both have to be in Ravenclaw at Second Look Day, right? Or did I make that up?

When I went to 2nd look at FIU, they showed us the student communities. They said it was a lot like in Harry Potter. You even get your community (one of 4) from a hat during orientation week.

Hippocrates, Semmelweis, Pasteur, and I can't remember the 4th (it was obviously not as cool of a name). 😀

Yup, I remember that! Ravenclaw FTW!

And EA, like you said, I THINK that stemmed from the Doctoring class getting split up into 3 or 4 segments (that met on separate times in addition to the Monday early afternoon time) that people compared to HP houses. Am I making that part up, Julie?

Yeah they do that at vanderbilt too, and I think I remember that there is a games day when the 4 houses compete against each other in these weird sports like some sort of water polo played while in innertubes in the rec center pool lol. It sounded awesome so I'm pretty jealous of you haha

🙂 FIU does the same thing. 2x a year. They are all for destressing after working your butt off. I can't wait to start in August. I'm so excited to start research too (it's a big part of the program there).

American Chocolate
The traditional guilty pleasure. A little bit naughty....but you can still take it home to mom. Generally reliable, fun at a party unless they are underbaked, and appealing to all ages.

This post was so full of win, I don't know where to begin.

PS: Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure. FTW.

Here are a few to choose from, Trogdor:

1) If you were a comic strip character, who would you be and why?

2) What thought or message would you want to put in a fortune cookie?

3) If you had to give up a favorite food, which would be the most difficult to give up?

4) You’ve been given access to a time machine. Where and when would you travel to?

5) If you could be any superhero and have super powers, which one would you like to have and why?

6) What award would you love to win and for what achievement?

Note: these also work as interview prep questions

Oh man, some of these are tricky...I'm going to have to ponder and get back to you since I'm at work and should be doing an online training right now 😏

Miami was the same way, except they had like 12 communities. I think it would be pretty good to have upperclassmen and such helping you out...and some internal rivalry is interesting

Hopkins. Published, no less, FTW.

The new and improved learning community at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine resembles that at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Stewart RW, Barker AR, Shochet RB, Wright SM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND: In July 2005, a learning community was created at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) to foster camaraderie, networking, advising, mentoring, professionalism, clinical skills, and scholarship--The Colleges. The cultural and structural changes that emerged with the creation of this program have resulted in JHUSOM bearing a resemblance to J. K. Rowling's fictional Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

AIMS: This manuscript will describe the similarities between these two revered schools, and highlight the innovations and improvements made to JHUSOM's learning environment.

DESCRIPTION: The intense, stressful, and lengthy professional training required to achieve competency in the practice of medicine and in the practice of witchcraft (albeit fictional) have meaningful parallels.

CONCLUSION: The supportive learning environment at these two schools should afford the next generation of graduates to have an even more enriching experience than those who have come before them.

As much as I hate revealing my age I'm a dog as well 😀.

Here's a randomly chosen description:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature (agreed). They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other people's confidence because they know how to keep secrets (fo sho). But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric (I can see that). They care little for wealth (very true), yet somehow always seem to have money (not so much). They can be cold emotionally (yes! my exes have said this) and sometimes distant at parties (not at all, life of the party if I may say so myself). They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues (been told it's more smooth than sharp). Dog people make good leaders (great leader IMO, horrible disciplinarian). They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit..

PS: Have a feeling we're going to see many more Harry Potterisms very soon and I'll just be sitting in the corner googling to keep up with yall.

Hahahaa, I will forward you the transcript from last night's chat....the first thing I said was that you and I would be in Ravenclaw🙂

That is awesome. As if people need another reason to want to go to Hopkins.

"No more rhymes now. I mean it."

anybody want a peanut?

👍 On a semi-related note, I saw this picture the other day of Andre the Giant, Arnold, and Wilt Chamberlain:

Never before has Arnold looked like such a girlie-man.

Hey peeps! Julie caught me in stupid questions thread so I felt I needed to show my face! How is everyone today? Super stoked, my best bud got into Jeff yesterday. I made him post in here lol.

That's great for him! I got rejected by Jeff today... three times. Sounds like I'm not the only one they hated that much though 🙄

Off to Coachella!!! See you suckas in 3 days... If I'm still alive. 😎

I got rejected 3xs also!

On a random note, it looks like the med school I most likely will be attending doesn't require me to complete my grad work. Can I just give up now? I don't want to write a thesis!!

:hello: I'm doing well, just went out to a delicious lunch. [Scallops om nom nom.] How about yourself? And congrats to your friend on Jeff! I myself made their rejectionX3 club today too.

Oooo have fun! And I hope you're sporting number 6 here.

Do it. Give a big eff you to your grad program and just go on vacation 🙂

I just bought the MSAR online and going through some of the schools that I plan to apply. I noticed that EVMS only accept score from 12/09 or after for 2011 application. Is that possible? Is the MSAR always correct? I thought that MCAT score is good for 3 years. I made a phone call to EVMS this afternoon but have not heard from them yet. I was hoping some of the SDNer would know the answer to this. Sorry if this has been ask before.

I think you're looking for the c/o 2016 thread, hun or the MCAT forum. As for 12/09 cut off, maybe it's because you'd be matriculating 8/12? That's almost 3 years, honestly I'm not an expert on that.
