In my town, I don't get service indoors on VZW. In denver, my parents don't get great service in their house. However, I fully expect my service to be even better when I move to a larger city.

It's not so much about the iPhone than it is about Apple. I don't like apple at all, they're all about 'controlling' their consumers, and you have no freedom with the phone/products. This has been the way Apple has been forever, so there is no way anyone can argue this one.

1. No flash. Seriously?
2. small screen compared to many droid phones. small screen should give you better resolution, but this is only slightly the case, and that will be dunzo with the introduction of new droid phones
3. developers across the world have geared their work more and more towards android OS, which is why we will see windows mobile OS die out soon.

I can keep going but seriously, do yourself the favor and get an HTC Evo or the Thunderbolt for VZW if you want 4g. You will thank me later. If you can wait, you know yourself that there are a ton of other droids coming out/out already (Cliff got a great one)

if you do get the Evo, PM me and I'll be sure to get you started on doing some things to the phone you cant even get close to doing with the iPhone and it will make your phone 10000X better.



In case you're wondering, I got the iPhone when droid was pretty much nothing, and it was the best touchscreen phone on the market

Flash? No problem. Extensive customization? No problem. I personally haven't encountered anything that other phones can do that I can't on my iPhone. And I don't know if I'd say that developers are focusing more on Android than iOS. I would actually say the opposite (though I don't have hard evidence to support that claim).

This has turned into something of a religion argument. Two red-faced sides screaming at one another, when the chances of converting anyone who has picked a side is nil.
 
Well the phone I originally started out thinking I would buy was the Thunderbolt. But then I heard such awful things about its battery life, and that of every other verizon 4g phone, that I started considering an iPhone. Because probably the one thing I dont hate about apple is how long their batteries last. If someone has actually tried the Thunderbolt and can prove to me that its battery can last ~18 hours as long as you arent constantly web surfing that entire time, then I will get it.

I didn't mean it like THAT...although I have been known....never mind. Honestly, it's unintentional a lot of the time--things just sound dirty when I say it. Like when I talked about having to "fill holes" after taking apart an above-ground pool at work--people thought I was talking about post-work out sex.

I'll get you evidence tom. I'm 99% sure developers spend more energy towards droid. also, there was some crazy stat online thousands of people on avg activating droids per day

droids do so much more than an iphone ahhhhh i wish i had th eenergy to list them

any 4g phone's battery is crap. just root it and add ~4-5 hours, delete a few apps and do a few other things to your phone and gain another 2-3, and you can get about 12-15 hours with decent usage (phone/text/minimal 3g/wifi/no 4g).

One time i used 4g for a while and pretty much drained my entire battery in like 2 hours....lol watching House on my phone while on the bus maybe wasn't the best idea hmmmmm

also sounds nerdy/intense, but you can carry another battery in your bag/pocket (like 2oz? ) and add another 15 hours....oh yeah you can't change the battery on an iphone 😛 (or at least the avg person can't)

I'm reconsidering the thunderbolt. I dont want to wait for the droid bionic or iphone5; I need a phone now because mine is dying. I just want a phone where I can run medical apps every once in a while...send some texts...check facebook a couple times a day...every other use of the phone would be pretty rare. I want at least 18 hr battery life if that is all I'm doing. My current phone used to last all week without needing a charge if that was all I was doing...

I think my favorite so far as been "I can fit a lot of meat inside me" when you were actually talking about food

It's like being back in middle school, where everything you say can be twisted into something dirty. Except you just set us up and we don't have to even be clever to turn it into something dirty lol

There were times in middle school when I could hardly speak a single sentence without some random word I said being turned into something dirty. It actually got really annoying

Haha, as does any cellphone debate, at least with my family and friends. My bf has both an iPhone and a Droid (one for work, one personal), and both AT&T and Verizon, so he thinks he's the ultimate expert and that he can just win any phone debate out there. 🙄

Am I the only one with a Blackberry? ...I need to upgrade.

My thought process when looking at phones?
- can it call people?
- can it send text messages?
- how's the email?
- how many time-wasting apps can I get on it?

That's all. I got the Droid 2 the week it came out and it was old news in like 5 days... Android phones get modified/improved so quickly, it's hard to keep up.

I think living in mostly-sunny SoCal for the past year-and-a-half has made me completely forget when seasonal changes are supposed to happen, but still...May!

Any 4G phone is going to use up its battery life fast. That said, if you're a heavy user on an iPhone you'll use it up fast too (despite the excellent battery in the phone and 3G being less battery demanding). I had to modify my phone usage/charging behavior since switching from BlackBerry. I was used to having to charge my phone maybe two or three times a week with my BlackBerry (and that was with using apps, browsing, whatever), and now with my iPhone I need to charge at least once a day between the different applications I have running, browsing, and how all phones other than BlackBerry are inefficient with e-mail.

Then again, I think the battery life should last you a day (even with heavy usage) unless someone is using your phone to play Angry Birds for an hour straight.

Personally, I believe debating battery life should be lower on your list of priorities in choosing a phone. It seems like one of the most tangible aspects at first, but think about how easy it is to charge a phone these days. You can plug in a smart phone nearly anywhere with a USB, wall outlet, or car charger (simple to do if you're commuting). I can't comment on how fast droids charge, but if I charge my iPhone for even 20minutes it will have more than enough for the rest of the day.

I know, this is record setting late cold weather. It goes make moving south all the more exciting! No more May snow 🙂. Snowy BBQ getting moved inside this afternoon.
 
Thanks. I didn't know that the new phones can charge with a simple usb cable. It will be really convenient to charge my phone whenever I use my laptop (i.e. all the time). My current phone is a dinosaur and needs its special little AC adapter. I guess I'll get the thunderbolt 😕 or maybe just a 3g droid? I really won't use the 4g capability much but I feel like I should get it just for ****s and giggles.

As far as the iPhone vs. Droid debate I've been pretty close to "converting" over to droid lately but decided to stick with my iPhone. I just haven't used a droid before so don't know what I'm missing but Mightymoose and Hockeydoc have discussed the phones extensively in the Osteopathic forum.
