Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm happy with our one exam every 4 weeks schedule. 3 weeks off, 1 week on.

On another note, I have ridiculous amounts of free time this block... it feels like undergrad all over again. Maybe I should get a research gig. What kind of research should I look for if I'm not sure about specialty choice?

the kind you get paid for!

It rains fire in California because of all the sinners.

This is my med school cycle:

2 weeks of consistent studying
1 week of goofing off
24 hours of cramming
take exam
"Oh crap, I guess I should study harder for next time"

Repeat

Biochem exam in eight hours. I hate you DNA. I hate you so much.

Lol, totally true. Best of luck.

Bump to get us off the second page.

It's raining in LA, which is unacceptable.

This is ruining my plans for Saturday... It's supposed to rain then too😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Holy crap I passed my exam today. Does this mean I can continue to slack off? 😀

High expectations Asian father would say no.

Got rocked by the cardiopulmonary phys exam today. I thought I understood the material well, but as each question went on, I felt like the test was just mocking my lack of knowledge. Ah well. Fingers crossed for a pass and onto studying for anatomy now. :scared:

Edit: Anyone else following the Penn State scandal? Absolutely mind-blowing...

That sounds about right.

No! Deets please.

I honestly have no clue if this is the original or the photochopped version.

When you're hooked on meth to the point where the powers of airbrushing can't help you for your upcoming Playboy spread and even a homeless shelter rejects your community service offers because you're a bad influence...

I am continuously surprised she's not dead. I think she's a lich or possibly has a video of Death dancing around in the Tooth Fairy's tutu that she's using for blackmail.

She's Courtney Love for the 00's.

Her rotting teeth, leathery skin, and greasy hair really complement her cold sore. Props to her stylist.

:barf:

Fixed that for you.

And yes.

I second your fix. Our neuro final in two weeks is cumulative. :help:

This med school thing sounds like a horrible idea.

it sucks occasionally but if medicine is the right place for you then you will love it anyway. i do feel really bad for the few people who slip through the application process and find out after getting into a ton of debt that it is not right for them...

happy day off--I mean, happy veterans' day

As much as I bitch (not that much here), I still love what I'm learning and my classmates are awesome. I'm busy, but I'm really happy. 🙂

And by "occasionally" you mean "during exams." 😉 but yeah, apart from that I'm having fun.

I'm not going to say I'm happy and love med school every day....but I like it enough, and most of the stuff I learn is pretty cool. My main frustrations actually come not from learning stuff I don't want to learn, but more how the material is presented (usually too briefly for a deep understanding) and how much I have to learn quickly to pass a test, not to be a good doctor.

I am happy to be here, and feel lucky to be here, but I am TOTALLY looking forward to third year, and can't wait to be done with years 1 and 2. I learned a long time ago that classroom learning was not my bag, so I know I just have to get through it...because even on a really bad day, I still really really want to be a doctor.

Umm... yes please for 3rd year. Don't worry, we're already like *almost* a quarter of the way there... 🙁

Ps- Hi cougs, miss you! :hello:

My first Team Based Learning lesson is tomorrow....
Remember...there is no "I" in "Team".

But there is totally an "I" in learning.

herros people :hello: good luck on dem exams!

My first Team Based Learning lesson is tomorrow....

I like our TBLs! We've had... probably 17 of them already this year? I don't know, it's a big part of our curriculum and I love my group so that helps.

Pretty much, with Thanksgiving next week and Winter Break beginning a month from tomorrow, I have lost any and all motivation I used to have. It's going to be a real bear getting through these next four-ish weeks (and passing). Luck to everyone!

hai geeks

Yo yo!

I could kiss whoever designed our schedule that our current block ends the day before Thanksgiving; the final is Wednesday morning. Since we start our next block the Monday afterwards, I don't have to worry about jack diddly schit as far as school goes for 4 1/2 days. :soexcited:

You can do it!

Tu puedes!

Is TBL different from PBL?

erm, I'm not sure I ever really understood the concept of PBL. but I'm gonna go with "yes" slash "you tell me." TBL consists of the following:
-individual quiz
-same quiz taken as a group (consensus must be reached and whatever)
-group application involving cases, questions, discussion, etc.

each session's like 2-3 hours. the prep beforehand is usually studying as usual + reading a couple articles provided by the facilitator.

of course, each school might be different. that's just how we roll!
