Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just finished my last final for the fall this morning. Over the break I'm going to be busy though... teaching 2 cpr/first aid classes at a residential drug & alcohol program (volunteer), starting to coach kids soccer team, spending 3 days shadowing a doc in 3 different clinics, meeting with 2 profs for letters of rec, continuing my undergrad research, and continuing my hospital job (paid) 2 days a week. I think Christmas is in there some where too. Oh. . . and I want to start my personal statement if I have time. . . but I probably won't.

Wow, it sounds SO MUCH fun. You will have a super busy winter break. 😱 But I think it's a great thing though because I want to keep myself busy as well. Have fun! 😀

wow our thread fell too far down the board...

Thanks, most of what I'm doing is just a continuation of stuff I started a while back, and the rest is stuff I want to get done early so I can be ready to go when AMCAS opens. This is my senior year so I have no excuse procrastinating. 🙂

Isn't senior year supposed to be the only time we have the right to procrastinate? (So far it's been the least I've ever procrastinated in my life, but I always thought I was just crazy)

It's supposed to be if you've already gotten in. The year you apply is the most stressful grade-wise.

I got super lucky with my classes this semester, so no stress with grades at all. Next semester I assume will be tougher, but I think grade-wise I'll be in the same situation. I am really glad I'm only taking 13 credits each semester this year and 2 were research this semester. haha

That's a good idea. I mixed easy elective classes with tough, interesting Bio classes last year for apps. I pushed a couple of harder required classes to senior year so they wouldn't show up on AMCAS if I screwed up.

Gotta play the game, right?

I've still got a couple of tough classes left (mainly molecular bio and molecular basis of human disease). Atleast I have all of my pre-reqs done! I guess that is the disadvantage of applying senior year, you don't get any break cause everything counts. I wonder if having more course work for the adcoms to look at offers even a small advantage.

I pushed a couple of harder class to senior year too, but then I decided to wait another year to apply, guess that backfired a bit . It must be nice to know you are in and not have to stress on grades and just enjoy undergrad for a while.

I've taken a full load of upper division bio & chem classes for three semesters (no electives or core classes), but next semester (my last one) I only have 3 hard classes and 3 blow-off classes. It might be fun 😀

I kept pushing classes I didn't want to take to senior year too and now I have to take them next semester. I guess I just hoped the classes would disappear before I got to them.

Applying senior year sucks because everything counts, but if you ever had a weak semester, you have one last opportunity to make up for it. Plus you don't have to hassle with school when going through interview season.

Just checking in on you young ones...How are the final exams coming along? Are you making us proud?

What's everyone taking next semester? I got microbiology, ecology, vertebrae form and function, civic engagement, and honors thesis

Anyone else think the 2014 act like tools when they pop up here calling us "boys and girls," "young ones," and "kiddos." I'm a grown ***** man!

Senior seminar II, Plant Taxonomy (+Lab), Biological Evolution, Texas Politics and Independent Study. Compared to this semester, next semester is going to be the easiest semester of my life. I've been considering throwing Biochemistry 2 in there, but I can't decide if I want to take yet another hard class I don't need just for fun, or actually have time to have real fun 😱

what's in biochem 2? We don't have that here.

I only need three classes/quarter from now on to be able to graduate on time..
I'm going to take biochem 2, inorganic chemistry, atmospheric and oceanic studies..😀

Did someone miss his snack time today?

It's new at my school, so I'm not sure exactly. The professor said there would be more metabolism, stuff that wasn't covered in Biochem 1. I guess the more obscure stuff. Also, it will cover the biochemistry of the immune system: antibody synthesis, binding stuff, etc. The biggest upside is there will be no labs from 1 pm until 10 pm at night!

I know you guys are just messing around, but I'm probably older than you, a single parent with sole custody of my son, supported myself many years (car payment, tuition, insurance, phone bill, rent, kids are expensive), & a senior in college. I don't like anyone calling me a "kid" even if it isn't directed specifically at me. I'm sure there are other people here that do "adult" things that don't like it either, but I'm just speaking for myself.

No offense taken, I'm just saying. . . I didn't mean to come off angry or whatever.

My school breaks it up into 2 classes as well. 1 = structural biochemistry and 2 = metabolic biochemistry

Interesting, we just stuff it all into one semester

I'm on the quarter system so it's 2 classes totaling 20 weeks (just a little longer than a semester). I've done both semester and the quarter system and they definitely pack a lot into a 10 week course though.

Oh, ok. I'm so used to the semester system, I don't think I could get used to a quarter system

Biochem, Calc II, an African studies class, Primate Behavior, and the other one is up in the air.

I expect my schedule will change a lot over my winter break.

Done with finals on Monday!

We have 2 semesters of biochem as well...

Ugh... my last final is in a few hours. Figures, the one night I need to study, sleep suddenly becomes my best friend.

I'm back to fulltime mcat studying...I also just watched the 3rd episode of Scrubs of season 9 on Hulu, not as god-awful as the first episodes, not great, but it's kindof getting somewhere

2 semesters of biochem here as well...i took it last year. (amazing choice...good background for so much)

anyway next semester ive got another 4 cr bio lab, animal behavior, med ethics, and a nice lib arts course.

oh and research for cr.

next semester's going to be sooooo much better

Yeah we're just joking, at least I am...I don't know about the others. It's just nice to finally kick back and relax before we're (2014ers) are the babies of the class again. You are thereby excluded from any future references by me to c/o 2015 being youngins. We good now?

It only shows up the first time the person posts on a page.👍
Myuu...are you trying to take over the 2015ers thread now too?! I should warn you, us 2014ers already laid claim to it.

I've already stamped this thread.😎

hahaha!
oh man...the fact that I am actually doing well in Pchem is making me not want to study for the final.
which is a bad idea 🙁

I got an A in biochem! yay 🙂

I just finished taking my three hour biochemistry final. It was the hardest test I've ever taken in my life

I'm just hoping for an 80 so I keep my A in the class:xf:

i'm soo cool...i'm "kewl"

Wow, falling bad haha

I just set up my interfolio account because I'm meeting with a professor to get a LOR on Tuesday. It was a lot quicker and easier to use than I expected. I'm relieved because this letter will be my non-science letter, which has been the hardest letter for me to get.
