Holllaaaaaa

'grats, Cliff. Make sure to have some chocolate milk after work.

Yeah. That's such a brilliant viral marketing campaign. My friends buy at least a 6 pack of ices every weekend simply to haze each other.

Ever ice anyone with a lukewarm passion fruit flavor ice? It's pretty awesome.

It's not really a marketing campaign. It actually goes against all of Smirnoff's marketing of "Drink Responsibly", which is why they've filed suits and injunctions to get those websites taken down. So far they got the original site removed but apparently the others aren't in their "likeness" so it'll be a little bit tougher. They've released multiple press releases saying they don't condone what people are doing.

And then comes the man factor: what self-respecting man drinks Smirnoff Ice malt beverages? This whole bros icing bros phenom is lame. Bad drink, and there's better drinking games out there if that's your thing.

That's the whole point... it's humiliating and thus fun to make your friends drink the beverage of choice for high school girls.

i'm uniceable

the only way i'm going down to philly is if by some miracle an adcom at penn took some funny pills the morning s/he is reading my file

A shindig would be SO FUN 👍 Think of the beverages, the baked goods, the inappropriate conversations, the pandemonium.

Make sure you carry an ice of your own to ice-block. That way, if someone ices you, you present them with an ice, and they have the double humiliation of drinking a Smirnoff malt beverage and failing to ice a bro.

Edit: but puh-leeze let's all get interviews in Philly and celebrate with chocolate milk afterwards.

does anyone know where to obtain the MCAT form that is email-able directly to schools so i can expedite this process of them getting my new score?

I lived nearby Philly up until June. Why must I be so far away from Philly now?

Congrats on the score, Cliff! Isn't it SUCH a relief? 😀

i think we only have one current philly resident but the large majority (if not all) of us are applying to schools in philly so we like to act as if we're all going to interview there at the same time and eventually matriculate in philly.

you'll be there too!
Congrats on the score, Cliff! Isn't it SUCH a relief? 😀
no doubt!

i lol'd

cliff, congrats on the new score!!!!

and 2 philly residents, don't forget me!

this thread has an influence over my life. I decided to listen to classical music while I study. It's nice!

+2

(except for the classics like Johnny Cash or Loretta Lynn... which most modern country fans wouldn't even recognize as country, since "country" is just a bastardized Pop 40 genre now)

Awww...I love country music. Classic and some of the new stuff. Great to listen to in the summer. Plus watching the CMT Awards is totally hilarious. Country music is in it's own bedazzled cowboy boots world.

I'm getting tired of nurses telling me to "not be a douchebag when I [become] am a doctor." I'm not a douchebag now and it makes me sad that they've met so many doctors who they think are douchebags. But even worse, I often get the feeling that the nurses think the doctors are douchebags because they think they know better but probably don't in many cases. "Nurses can make your life hell." has come out of every practicing nurse I've met.

The lesson should just be "don't be a douchebag." There are cool people and d-bags in every profession.

I've worked in a hospital for 3+ years and there are douchebag doctors and douchebag nurses. When I was an EMT there were douchebag EMTs and paramedics. Before that I worked in human resources and there were douchebags there too. During school, guess what? More douchebags there too.

No matter where you are in life, you will encounter douchebags... make sure you don't become one of them. 😀

I wonder how much of that can be attributed to the high stress environment that docs and nurses spend way too much time in together. I think everyone in this thread will become an awesome doc though 🙂

We should all go douche free. It's recommended by the U.S. Dept. Of Health and Human Services.

nurses only *think* they can make your life hell and unfortunately its the patient who wins/loses in the end. its usually the ones that are insecure and feel threatened. not all nurses are like this. my attendings prefer me to be taking care of their patients becasue they trust me and I respect them. its fairly easy to pick apart good nurses from bad ones. and the setting makes a difference. I can pretty much tell you that the hospitalists have no relationships and very little interaction with the med/surg team but have pretty close relationships with the crti care team.

on the other hand, doctors can also be douchebags. Im guessing I'll have my douchebag moments.

and the nurses are probably getting douchebag confused with professionalism. sugar coating everything doesnt always get the point across.

come to think of it, my man is often a douchebag at work, even to me. usually when Im trying to touch his wang or something. I hate professional doctors. 🙄

This is why it pisses me off beyond just the stereotype that everyone becomes a douchebag god-complex doctor--patient care is always crippled by this ****. i.e. I shadowed an intern who accidentally pissed off a nurse who rallied the troops against him (nicest guy I've ever met btw, totally great doctor) and what they were doing is basically refusing to carry out his written orders etc.

edit: just saw your addition:

This seemed to be exactly the problem: he was ultra busy (like all interns) and had to just be like "hey antibiotics (or whatever) on patient blah blah." without saying "oh please most beautiful honey covered nurse who knows everything, could you blah blah blah"

...and what they were doing is basically refusing to carry out his written orders etc.
unacceptable. but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't happen.

a big problem is that nursing and medical are largely considered two separate fields. where I work, I don't have to answer to any doctor. we should go back to the old days where doctors were nurses bosses. and where doctors ran hospitals.
