Back from Hawaii! Congrats to those of you that have gotten interviews. Of course, as soon as I landed in HI, I got an email for a certain Chicago school's painfully long secondary. It had been so long since I had submitted that I assumed they had screened me out/let my application get stuck between some couch cushions. No thin letters came my way though 👍

How is everyone?

Hahaha I was debating between "pairs" and "goes well with" because I didn't want to sound like a pompous ass.

edit: just got a phone call from a medical school. I got all nervous and my stomach flipped until I realized it was my dad's alma mater and they were calling for my dad to ask for money 😱

pretty good. for the past couple weeks or so though it seems like i'm featured in a film called "silence of the schools". i hope you had an awesome trip!

Cougs, I'm sorry to hear about your interview..let's chat about it reallly soon, it's been a big weekend for both of us (IE: see one of my first posts after the weekend was over). *sigh*

On top of the invite, the behavior rig at my lab is broken so that means I basically just have to kill time and get paid for it. Life is good.

Argh..just got like three emails: 2 from NYCPM and Barry...I don't even know where the heck these schools are!

My phone buzzed and I had thought they were from schools I'd want to hear from..but nope. 🙁

I thought at first the universe was trying to tell me something after the bad interview. I am relieved that everyone else got it too🙂



I was actually starting to feel let out....I hadn't gotten an email from Barry yet. I thought Barry hated me.

Hmmph, agreed..it's really gloomy here inSoCal...WTF! It's a new weather pattern every other week here...first it's hot as hell, then it cools down, then gets warm again...and now it's like gloomy like ****. At least I'm dark-skinned so like, I don't really "need" to tan.

We all need our Vitamin D though! Plus I'm so used to constant sunshine that one cloudy day makes me tired and cranky. I better get used to other environments though, since most schools I'm applying to have bitterly cold winters and/or long rainy seasons. 🙁

Haha..I take a multi-vitamin every day! 😛 I think aside from Cali schools, most places to which I've appplied will throw me into cold, stormy winters and mega hot, humid summers. IE: northeast, Oregon, llinois/Wisconsin area...and Montreal, QC.
 
two new shirts and two new ties today. also, dropped my pants off to be altered. glad that is taken care of.

I'm not a fan of doing it for interviewers. But I would write one for a student host.

+1...unless you really had a reason to send it to an interviewer (ie, you passed out and got CPR, lol)...or if you really feel like it. everyone likes a 'thank you'
 
I got the Barry and UMich emails today, too... bastards. I was SO excited for 1.2 seconds before I realized who they were from. Lame-sauce. I was bitching to Geekhusband about Temple and Penn leaving me hanging. He told me Jeff called them and threatened them not to steal their student. It kinda made me feel better. 😍

I need to drop off my suit at the tailor. The skirt and the sleeves are in desperate need of a hem, and I think there are some thin pads in the shoulders that totally need to come out.

Oregon's winters aren't actually very cold, and the summers are warm and dry. We get a bad rap about the rain, but it's actually a really nice climate to live in. I may be a bit biased though 😛

I lived half my life in Portland and I still go to Sunriver a couple times a year... It's rainy. Verrrry rainy. It's not like Southern California's torrential rain, it's a permanent drizzly dampness.

That being said, I would love to go to OHSU 😀

Interviewer: "Tell me about your thoughts on healthcare policy and the new reform bill that was passed."

Interviewee: "Uh...." Sweat... more sweat... hyperventilate... passes out. 😛

I think if you're gonna kiss azz, then you might as well show up to the interview with a cup of starbucks for your interviewer haha. My opinion is that if they like you then you're fine, and a thank you note won't make a difference either way. Why should an interviewer get a thank you note for doing their job? It isn't like applying to their school is free 😀.
 
of the people i've talked to who have had interviews so far they have not had healthcare reform questions, lets hope this keeps up!

I hope it does keep up. There's such fear-mongering and false information out there that unless I get to vote on something, I'd rather just wait for the dust to settle and see where we're at. Of course, I will be studying up on the topic for my interview, but that wouldn't be my personal preference.
