Also, just got that book just here trying to save a few lives in the mail and very excited to start reading it. 👍

Ok, so I'm reading this thread at the local library, not studying, and think ,"That sounds like something I want to read." I get up to look for it, and in a 20,000 square foot building its on the shelf behind me. Go figure. Maybe it was meant to be.

I wonder if Cougs will ditch her Uhura costume once she sees this?

First interview was on Monday...Everything was great...but i dont find anything out until the first week of November...🙁 I hope everyone who has had or is going to have an interview does great!

yeah, i'm antsy as hell to hear. i feel like i did well, but nothing is certain. cue the barf emoticon...

I've never seen you post on this thread! Hi and welcome!

Awesome that your interview went well. 👍 Just distract yourself with a video game or something and it'll be here before you know it. 😀

i am anxious as well. i have been playing mad sports this week due to the unforeseen amazing weather, but i am so ridiculously competitive when i play sports that it puts me in an even worse mood

oy vey what a day. got to work quite tired from a long day and the inbox had a nice pick-me-up...

INTERVIEW@COLUMBIA!

Congrats Bleargh!!! 😀
That was one of the secondaries that I never got around to finishing, so congrats on both counts. 😛

Also, a belated congrats to Longshanks!!!!! 😀

I'm flying out to my first interview tomorrow...so NERVOUS. :scared:
Mostly, I'm nervous about getting lost at the airport, haha. But it's not stopping me from feverishly reading wikipedia about any and every bioethical controversy...I need to stop.😳 I also keep re-checking my packing list, convinced I will realize I've forgotten something midway through the flight.

...Also, quick question: Did you guys find that bringing a laptop was necessary? I really don't want to lug it around, but can't imagine life without it, ahaha (I have no smartphone...)

Also, also: Any suggestions for how to best pack a skirt-suit in a carry-on? (minimizing wrinkling)

I had one at an interview and just found it dragged me down over the day having to carry it.

I put my skirt and shirt inside the jacket (with the sleeves flattened and folded across the chest) and then fold the jacket sleeves in and then the entire thing in half. Makes enough padding that only minimal wrinkling occurs.

GL!:luck:

Thanks for the tips! 👍👍

thanks all!

robo, in a larger aircraft there will be a coat rack where you can hang your interview suit. proper suit hangers will have clips from which you can suspend your skirt with the jacked draped around it

thanks all!

thanks bleargh! Alas, I feel that with this option, I will be forced to re-fold the suit into the carry-on once I exit the plane. (I don't have one of those nifty suit bags....and I also already have a "personal item". I think you are allowed one carry-on and one personal item (i.e. purse...etc.))

Congrats bleargh! I hope everyone that's expecting news (and even people that aren't) have good days on Friday!

I have an interview on Friday, but I'm flying alllllll day tomorrow. There's no direct flight to where I'm going... and you can pretty much fly to the moon from LAX direct since it's such a big hub.

thanks all!

Congrats on the interview Bleargh!

... and excellent working knowledge of how to hang women's clothes :meanie:. I usually just toss them on the floor

dude do yourself a favor and grab a bag double quick. they will let you take a suit and a purse and a carry-on. it'll be ok.

I have forgotten my hangers multiple times at hotels. I take my suit off the hanger then just forget to pack it when I'm getting ready in the morning.

on the upside, most hotels have a ton of hangers, many of them nice ones, to steal right back

I need to start flying better airlines. Last time I flew united and they did not have a place to hang garments 👎.

Oh I see, last time I flew was a short trip probably means a smaller plane.

mainly depends on plane, not airline
Yea. All the larger plans have bars for the hangers and so do some of the smaller planes. The busier routes therefore are most likely to have hangers. Like when I flew JFK -> FLL they had, but when I flew JFK -> CLT, the plane didn't have.

Generally yes, unless you're flying through a hub (e.g. Dulles, Atlanta).

Can I please go into a coma and wake up at Thanksgiving? Thx.

Also.....bleargh is awesome. And way more of an idealist and optimist than you would think.

i love finding old songs that sound 10x better than some of the garbage i hear today

another congrats to u bleargh...add it to the other 298798723

dear bleargh, you are awesome.

Guys, I fell in love with a med school today. And they're going to torture me until March. Uuuuuugh, I really tried not to get attached but crap.

So I just watched said viral dancing stewardess video and all I could think was "after a long 20+ hour day of interview business and flights, I really don't want all this loud bs and action when I get on the plane.. I want to sleep" (I find that I usually have an awful headache by the end)
