I had a dream that I was on a tour of the UCSD campus... but it was a mix of Hogwarts and a beautiful jungle with neon-colored flowers. My friend that went to UCSD for undergrad was there, and I just kept telling her that yeah, it's beautiful here, but it didn't have the enough heart because it wasn't in a ghetto :laugh:

The scenery in my mind was incredible though... I remember a bay with waves softly breaking on the white white sand, the water was vivid turqoise, and teensy fluffy pink-tinged clouds sat a foot above the water's surface.

Hahaha, ok, I don't know what school that is, but we all need to find it and go there🙂 And hopefully, because you have to go through a magic portal to get there, no one else will know about it and we will all get in🙂

Cougs, that medical fairyland with in-state tuition was UCSD in my head. I think it's my subconscious telling me that SD is waaaaay too good for me. They're probably wiping their La Jolla derrieres with my application right now.
 
Haha I doubt I'll even get an interview, but if I do, I will certainly tell them how magical their school is in my mind. 😛 Literally, magical.

Also, the way you described it, it doesn't just sound like Harry Potter....it also sounds like Willy Wonka. And something else. Like a place where there would be lollipops growing out of the ground and extra large talking dragonflies buzzing around.

Yeah, it was like a Technicolor jungle with a royal blue stream running through it, then a bright turquoise ocean, and then the buildings were gray old stone with tropical vines growing up like ivy over the walls. Between the old castle-like buildings and how magical everything seemed, it reminded me of a tropical Hogwarts. Willy Wonka wouldn't be too far off either though.

I dunno why I ventured into the UCSD thread... makes me feel all gunnery and like I want to call and ask about my app status, but I bet they've gotten a billion calls today.

I'm trying to figure out why people would want to go to Wash U beyond "it's prestigious." and research stuff...

You know, I think the same thing about some other upper tier schools too.

I really clicked with FIU when I went there for my interview.

When I put my acceptance on facebook, some guy I know (who is at an older med school in FL) said he wouldn't have the balls to go to a new med school...I honestly think he was just an idiot, but hey, whatever.

I am not at all worried, and I'm withdrawing my app from "better" schools, because I know I belong at FIU. I think people who are happy in their environment thrive, and prestige does not always equal good environment. I have a friend that just finished a fellowship at a top 10 and can't wait to leave because she's sick of her coworkers.

I think I will wait until the sdn feeding frenzy is over I.e. next week .

I try to avoid telling most people where I got accepted, it's a great school but when you don't say harvard they act like something is wrong with me lol. I think I would get along better there than at many upper tier schools.

Haha, reminds me of the million "does prestige matter?" threads that are on SDN. I interviewed at a new med school too and got good vibes from it. I'm sure you won't regret going to FIU 🙂 Congrats again on your acceptance.

Daisy, I've had this problem before. It got so obnoxious they landed permanently on my **** list.

Tomorrow morning I leave for my second med school interview (Thursday). I'm excited! 😀

there was just ~7 lighting strikes outside my window in less than a minute

3 hour layover at JFK....starving and nothing is open🙁. One of you New Yorkers need to come and deliver me food.


Edit: I was so wrong....EVERYTHING was open. I had a great egg white breakfast
Also, as I sat here, I saw a bird. At first I thought I was nuts, but no, there is indeed a bird in the terminal. And I was so incredibly sad for it because it would likely never make it's way back out again. But then I saw that it wasn't alone! And it had two bird friends with it. And then somehow I didn't feel so bad for it.


Edit 2: I just asked an employee....apparently when they built the terminal the birds had built a nest inside and no one noticed. So the Jet Blue employee told me that they are "their birds" and they just live there!!!! And I've now seen at least 5 of them.

Yeah they got birds at the mall by me like that haha. And omg I LOVE your avatar pic, I just finished a season 4 Psych marathon over the weekend haha, I love that show!!

Were they peregrine falcons? I see those sometimes at JFK, and in random shopping malls in other states.

And falcons....I don't know. I don't know much about birds. If I had to call them something it would be sparrows. They would fit in the palm of my hand and were chubby and cute.
