Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
congrats Rhino and Robo! And chicklet is adorable!

anyways...

I went to the midnight Harry Potter showing yesterday!

Right at the climax of the movie, some guy started heckling... people said "shut up" in not so appropriate words. Two guys then stood up saying "that's enough" and a fight started... the fight calmed down and people sat back down but the heckler then ripped off his shirt and came back to fight some more, only to have the police than rush in and pretty much tackled him (over some of the individuals watching the movie near the front). People clapped and then 20 seconds later the movie was over.

I think this was the best harry potter movie ever.

I also loved the fact that a good chunk of my school's undergrad and medical school population was there... I love living in the ghetto 🙂

Um Geeks, Chicklet is WAY too cute. 😀 Just sayin'...

Also, I am having a girlie slumber party tonight, which I haven't had since like, freshman yr of high school (not counting dorm roommates...haha)
And I am SO SO excited....I finally finished my midterm and get to celebrate my Case acceptance (which I saw last night during a flurry of studying) !! woot

And Rhino---CONGRATS DUDE! 😀

Congrats on Case! Woohoo!

Fairly quiet here today. What gives 😕. Anyone have big plans for the weekend? Tomorrow I'm cleaning my apt, seeing the new HP, and going to my sister's place with the girlfriend to play Wii and have dinner. Epic day planned, which I intend to follow up on Sunday by doing absolutely nothing useful😀

been gone for a minute, and I missed a bunchh

congrats to everyone who's been accepted, and Shanks to killin the interview

I need to find some good coffee; my homemade coffee doesn't taste as good as when I buy from other places

Two of my friends are going to Philly too now, I don't get it lol

There was nothing good at the work cafeteria today. I refused to have salad for the third day in a row. The tuna wrap I ordered was huge but it was really good.

I have been freshing Temple's applicant page like a zombie all day. I can't take this crap anymore.

Sounds like you got an awesome weekend lined up and a new haircut to boot! I like it.

😍 Thanks guys. We're all still twiddling our thumbs in the Temple SSD thread. This is probably a really long committee meeting, since they told us this would be their first meeting in three weeks.

straight up passed out in my computer class for 20 mins just now, woke up w/ my prof staring at me
good luck geeks and congrats shanks/robo
on an entirely random sidenote, community is the best show on television right now

I know how you're feeling, I felt that way while I was waiting for my SUNY Upstate decision. Its worse than refreshing the page with MCAT scores 😛. But :xf: for you and hopefully we'll all be doing loads of :hardy::highfive::clap::zip::banana::woot::claps: for you later.

haha I just watched last night's episode. Pretty funny.

Thanks, though its early for congrats. I'm taking a wait and see approach. I think the majority of it went well, but I may have said something wrong at the end cause I got an odd look back at me. And how you start and finish is important.. But it was a great experience overall.

Best of luck Geekchick!

I'm just doing chores and errands today, prepping for turkey day. No idea what I'll be up to for the rest of the weekend. My bf is sick again so I'm not sure if I'll see him or my friends tonight.

I was just accepted to my second school in CA 🙂

😱 I would not have been OK if my HP got interrupted like that.

I saw this video of Shaq singing the Cheers theme song in the Cheers bar in Boston. I'm such a dork b/c I think it would be awesome to go there... and sing with Shaq haha.

Also, I remembered that he had a funny Cheers remake a few years back (I think he is obsessed with this song):

I'm bored. My friends are all probably going to have date nights with their bfs tonight, and my bf is probably guzzling Nyquil and watching tv in bed right now.

Note to you kids still in college: by the time you turn 24 (if not sooner), you and all of your friends will be in relationships or trying to get into a relationship (if you and your friends are dateable). Furthermore, most social activities will revolve around said relationships 🙁

Yeah. My husband and I are rather independent people, and yet at 27 I'm always shocked by how many couples outings we have with our friends. If I ask my girl pals if they want to do something they have to okay it with their husbands/boyfriends. I would go frickin' insane if I had to okay going out for lunch with my husband...

thats only true if your friends are in relationships. its always good to keep a few friends that are not in relationships, and there is usually at least a couple people in transition at any given time so its not as bad a daisy is making it out to be. then again, i'm still 23 and not an old fogie at 24 :meanie:.

any news geekmama?

Haha yeah, I don't have to get the OK to hang out with my friends, but I don't want to be the third wheel with a couple going out to dinner together or something...

This is quite true, haha.

For the longest time I was the single guy in our circle of friends and everyone was with somebody. A bit annoying when it came to social plans or things to do, since my usual group was all tied up with their ball and chains. Then trying to get everyone on the same page when we all wanted to do something together just became difficult with so and so's SO complaining about this or that or wanting to just stay in with the two of them. And of course the responsibility of getting everyone together and organizing stuff for some reason falls on me and one of my close friends.

Now they all had break ups one way or the other. And they think they can give me grief when I ditch them now - jokes on them. :meanie:

sometimes it's nice to just have a night to yourself though. i'm honestly partied out right now, endless 21sts and going out every night have made me fairly ambivalent toward the prospect of going to a club. being back home (in the middle of nowhere) for the next 10 days should let me recharge and return to this sacred mantra:

Rule No. 76 - No excuses. Play like a champion.

my life is extremely boring currently. i have so much free time i am volunteer coaching ball (dont get me wrong, its a lot of fun!) and i still have free time. my best friend moved for his job and dumpy gf, and i'm sick of the night life here. i'm ready for school because that means life will continue. excuse my b!tchin, but i'm not socially satisfied.

No one heard anything. *Sigh*

Same here. I live in a hole of a city with nothing fun to do. My husband is living in a city I like better, but I only get to go there every other weekend or so. I went from ft school plus ft work and prepping for MCAT med school app cycle to just work and a few hours a week volunteering. I don't know what to do with myself...

they are probably playing drinking games with your applications.

"ok guys, every time we see the word 'grandmother', 'inspiration', and 'exhilarated' its a shot. every time there is a VR less than 10 drink for 10 seconds. finally, if an application includes a medical mission trip to south america finish your drink. ready, go!"

They'd all hit the floor unconscious before finishing 10 apps. No wonder there's such a long silence!

Geekchick, I'm sure good news is just around the corner! :xf:

in other news UNC lost to an unranked Minnesota team in bball tonight, when UNC is ranked in the top 10 😆 pathetic.

I am SO BORED. My parents are kind of like children in that they can't do any planning or problem-solving on their own, so I coordinate every holiday and everything that goes with that. Right now I'm looking for an insulated table pad to cover a huge dining table for Thanksgiving while planning the menu and ways to get my mom and relatives out of the house while I'm cooking so she doesn't hover and micromanage/whine.

tgif, right? 🙄

daisy, entertain me in some way. please. my night is WAY more boring than yours.

I agree with you there. A night to yourself is amazing sometimes. Which is one I needed, right now. Just relaxing, watching some movies, coffee, etc. Exhausted from the interviews, and been going out a lot this month and just not getting any sleep really. So between interviews and writing a manuscript, pretty burnt out.

Try comparison shopping insulated table pads and then tell me what you're doing that's more boring than that. 😛

We can do a "Bust-a-rhyme" back-and-forth or something... I don't know.
we fail. you can have the title of most bored.

heyyy guys! I'm having a low-key night too. Baking some peanut butter cookies and maybe watching a movie. I'm basically an old lady, but I'm okay with it.

i'm ok being an old lady every now and then, but not 3 weekends in a row

i considered cholatey goodness in my room to bball on espn3 but couldnt bring myself to that. sleepy from 630 AM practice

 same here...i thought they did the 5am tune-ups so they didn't have to do them in the afternoon when everyone gets on. oh well, i found other ways to occupy myself
Mbeas! Yay! hi!🙂

I'm sooooo tired....yet petulantly refusing to sleep because I don't want to wake up and go to work AGAIN early in the morning🙁

Drove to Sierra Nevada Brewery today. Was amazing. Came back and went to the fall dance concert, which was alright. Tempted to go out, but really rather tired.

Sounds fun. Brewery trips are always a good time.

I generally like Sierra Nevada, but I was a bit disappointed when I tried their celebration ale last year or whichever they call their winter/holiday brew.

wow the '15ers had low key friday nights across the board. i watched robin hood (russell crowe one) and it was entertaining but not special. prob can guess from my avatar but i am obsessed with gladiator
our saturday night better be more interesting or we are about to fall into the dredges of being stereotypical premeds :meanie:

Ugh I wish I could say I ruined the lowkeyness of the 2015'ers with what I did tonight but it was really laid back. Tried Korean BBQ for the first time in my life with my gf and LOVED IT! Also got tanked off some Korean liquor (forgot the name). Then went back to her place and played Wii (not a euphemism) and watched Platoon.

😍 LOVE Korean BBQ. Was it Soju?
