(that's a hint)

Still didn't figure it out until I saw the below post:

You will always be bleargh

Triple Facepalm for me?

This reminds me of my your vs you're thread. Damn thing shoulda been stickied. :meanie:

The whole you're/your REALLLLY BUGS ME!! Yes I'm probably crazy. Also, I was once chatting with a guy who reallly bugged the **** outta me because in addition to his "you're/your" mixup, he wrote "the tacos where very good." I'm like...WTF?!

Everyone should stop doing fun or productive things and play with me on gchat instead.

If I were online last night, we should've had a chat!

T-minus 6 weeks until my last day of work and moving to College Station (<---not so thrilled about Aggieland, but stoked for med school)!!!!

T-minus 28 weeks from this Saturday til I get hitched!!!!! WOOHOOO!

Congratulations!!! 🙂

Oh, and this baby is due 17 weeks from tomorrow. A week from tomorrow I hit what's generally considered the viability threshold. OMG, this is going fast.

Awww, CONGRATULATIONS and I wish you the best! I think my cousin is also due around the same time you are...how exciting! I'll have two births to celebrate right around Rosh Hashanah!

A late straight up acceptance to a school I have not heard from in nearly three months, though they woke me up at 8AM asking me one day why I haven't sent them the requested LOR from my current job yet (umm... because no one requested it...????), so I got one sent ASAP as the man said so they can make a decision and I got my decision today.

CONGRATS! That's awesome, Shanks! 🙂

Bongiorno from italia! Drinking italian beer + online stats homework = 93% in the class so far 😀

So jelly. Where in Italy are you?

I don't know about you guys, but my first day of orientation is in exactly two months. Hoooooooooooooly schit. It seems so much closer now than it did just yesterday.

ZOMG how is that possible?

I know! I keep cycling between "it can't come soon enough" and "holy crap I'm not ready for this."

Word, that's exactly how I'm feeling too. Plus the added "yay I get to move to a fun new place" and "lame I have to move all my crap."

Yay baby! But you tell that little guy/gal to stay put until after anatomy lab. 🙂

Congrats Shanks! That's so great!

you're going there for sure, yea?

you're going there for sure, yea?

At this point, yes. If the Philly school called me off their wait list it would be a very very difficult decision, as I think the two schools are on par though I give the Philly one a slight edge. They both have pros and cons which weigh themself out, I feel.

Awesome news, Shanks!! 😀

Does anyone else read RogueUnicorn's posts as very sad/somber or is it just me? So much pain in those eyes 🙁.

RogueUnicorn is emo.

That 4 Conduct Violations thread is making me guilty that I never reported the two times I was written up by an RA freshman year. But seriously, I didn't think I should report it... they were just warnings, and I don't think they were ever written down on my school record! But now LizzyM makes me feel guilty. 🙁

I wouldn't worry about that, juliedi. I was an RA, and most times kids didn't know they were being written up. They don't go on your school record unless they become serious, e.g. you need to go to drug and alcohol counseling or get suspended from housing. At least this was our policy. As much as I enjoyed being an RA, I have to say I'm glad I no longer have to worry about taking my kids to the hospital when they overimbibe.

The fiance and I just went to a pub out GC's way - it was really good! We didn't even realize we were going to be out that way. Mmmmm IPAs.

If I had known, I'd have offered you the coupon the hubster got there when his company took him to the Brazilian steakhouse next door. You were actually even farther away than you'll have to come for Sunday, but you probably knew that already. 🙂

That is a great milestone. Congrats. I still don't believe how fast it all goes.

Hey all, I am so sorry I am such a slacker poster lately. I had a second shoulder surgery yesterday, so I am pegging at the keyboard lefty. Hopefully I will be on my way back to having two functional arms before class starts. Hope you all are doing well. It is amazing how fast the new year is coming up! Cheers 🙂

Warnings aren't IA though?...right? Not that it reallly matters at this point, as long as your school doesn't "find out"...😛

Also, I guess I'll throw in the formal congrats to Shanks on SDN...even though I already personally congratulated him earlier today 🙂 YAYYY!!

Massively multi-quoting!

OMG YOINK this picture

High holy day babies = WIN! 😀

 👍

You'll make it. You have built in SDN help when you get here! We're not even moving and I'm starting to pare down stuff at the apartment since I know how fast it accumulates in any given year.

I like this. C'mon, Philly school!

I almost shot coffee out of my nose. That would have been painful.

So emo kids are just zombies in disguise? Or zombies need love too? It could go either way, I guess.

i write poems about pain

i knew you would 😍

edit: gc you need this -

You're totally embracing the emo horse, rogue. I like it.

And the t-shirt. Awesomeness.

Aww, thanks! I think we're coming back this week because they're the only ones we've found hosting Flying Dog for beer week.

Nope, not IA... and more congrats I say!

I agree. All of those threads make me feel guilty; and I wasn't even written up officially by the RA either (just did silly things as a freshman)

The estimated bill for my car maintenance and repair is making me strongly reconsider whether I want to hang onto it. Why can't I be content with a cheaper source of fun and pleasure, like macrame?

Speaking of school starting soon, I have a few other "Are you serious?!" feelings when I think back over the application year.

I submitted AMCAS 1 year ago... WHA?

I interviewed 9 months ago. I could have made a baby between the time I interviewed and now...

I've known I was going to medical school for nearly 8 months. 8 MONTHS! I remember sitting outside at the Hard Rock Cafe on the night of Oct 15th and staring up at the sky totally not hearing anything my husband was saying. Checking my phone every 5 seconds at Halloween Horror Nights and feeling like I was about to jump out of my skin waiting. Getting 2 random emails at 12:01 and 12:02 respectively, and the excitement of getting a text message acceptance @ 12:04am, followed by worrying it was a hoax for half an hour until I received the follow up email.

I just had my physical yesterday, and began the 2-step PPD test.

In less than 2 months I'll be in medical school. Holy $#&@!

+1 to most of these things... YAY for us! (except I didn't have a two step TB test, or the Hard Rock Cafe story haha)...

Thousands of dollars in flight costs and 25K flight miles later, I'm moving to NYC, where I"ll be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in non-existent money to get that degree lolo.

My boss thinks they can get me to stay until just before I have to move to school. No. I have been working since I was 15...I am taking a break before medical school! I gave over 5 weeks notice. That's that. No explanation necessary. 😡

for sure. they have no leverage over you anyway.

I know. They think they can guilt you into it. "But your classes don't start until X date." "So; that's really none of your business." "We'll talk about it later." "Here is my letter of resignation." "I need you to stay." "No."

This is the second time this has happened to me. Last time, my boss told me, "We need you to stay until after the holidays." "No, here is my 2 weeks notice."

And the tables WERE turned on me once, because I literally had 5 days at another job before they had us leave when the economy tanked in 2008.

At-will employment FTW.

👍 Hold your own! 🙂

I got an email from the aamc today, regarding their FIRST website. I decided to log on and use it to calculate an estimate of my future loan payments. I suggest nobody does this, it was depressing seeing the interest be higher than the original loan amount by tens of thousands of dollars. I definitely need to go into a high paying specialty.

That's part of the reason I'm hoping to aggressively pay off my loans in my first few years as an attending.

I always assumed it was the case....that's how you end up with "double the principal" as your lifelong loan value...pooppie.

Also, Rhino, was your med school loan info already inputted into the NSLDS page? I entered in my info and they couldn't retrieve my information....

I'd like to do that too, but I know after sacrificing for that long I'm going to want to use my money for other things. My 10 year payment plan was >6K per month after residency, compared to ~2.5K with the IBR or extended 25y plan.

Seeing the actual numbers makes **** real for me, haha

Anyone interested in medical school should learn about compounded interest

My loan info wasn't on the NSLDS page either, but I pulled all my loan amounts off my schools financial aid website (then I used the same amounts for all four years).

I am having major issues with the whole system. For some reason, I did the loan entrance interview stuff and the government website isn't transmitting the information to my school. I had to do and redo the whole thing. :annoyed:

Thanks for the info guys! I called my school yesterday to verify everything was "complete"..and they said "yeah", so I'm not too worried about my school not knowing anything. Hopefully they were correct lol.
