Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
im just annoyed that every other med school offers free printing and mine decided to stop this year

We get semi-free printing: we have to bring our own paper but if we load it up into the printer you can print away.

However, the apartment building that a majority of the class lives in offers free printing. 😎

NN, I shake my fist in your general direction

For those of you who have 8-5 lectures are they mandatory or do you have access to them online?

We have, on average, 9-4 days, and the lectures are NOT mandatory. Ours are recorded (audio only), with transcripts posted. The text is transcribed by a classmate for $40 per session. We also receive a huge packet of notes at the beginning of the block.

Mine does't offer free printing. I think it's like $.15/pg...something like that..I HOPE that is the colour rate.

I'm with Suncrusher...*shakes fist*. I had to buy my own printer, bc I live off campus. I love it though! llol. Fax, scanner, copier, wireleess printing! I can email the printer and it'll print **** out for me! 🙂

OK so far I am CPR certified, learned proper handwashing technique, and have a white coat. Almost a doctor. Oh, also learned that I have to twist my steth tube to turn it "on."

Taking a history on a SP on Tuesday. :meanie:

You guys have 8-5 lectures? :scared: I have usually 4 hours of lecture per day, all webcasted with optional attendance.

Does anyone know the file size limit for gmail?

well, there's an hour for lunch, and 2 hours 3x/wk for PBL, and the afternoons aren't basic science lectures but rather ethics, clinical skills, standardized patients, clinical preceptorships, etc...so while it's not all lectures it's still 8-5 schedule for those three days of the week, which makes it super hard to review things before the next day...

just realized i've been here over a year and never started a thread. i forget who suggested it, but that does seem like it might be a good rule to impose to cut down on spam and constantly-repeated questions in pre-allo. when people can't be lazy, they'll be forced to search...

9-3 lectures here. So it's not terrible. It actually goes by pretty quick. I just feel tired afterward, and everything around here is a bit of a drive, so when I go to do an errand, that's another hour wasted, so I'm just feeling too tired to focus properly to study efficiently.

is anyone else really loving being a med student and all the studying? I mean, it's a LOT, not gonna lie, but it's somehow really fun. I guess I'm just a good fit for it 😉

I think the upload limit for file attachments is 25MB. The limit will likely be inbox sizes/restrictions of other providers.

Haha, I START orientation tomorrow...**** lol. So Scared! I've gotten used to the past few nights of hanging with MB or my classmates..lol. Ugh. 🙁 Wish me luck tomorrow, haha!

havent you been in school like...5 days? I have, and I just have a tiny anatomy quiz on tues and a giant first exam after the third week of school

6 days here, and we have our first full anatomy exam and practical next Monday. No quiz or anything in between.

Yeah. The cool (and by cool I mean not cool) thing about anatomy here is that we don't go two weeks without an exam. I guess the good thing is that each exam covers a relatively "little" (and I use that term loosely) amount of material, but the new material is relentless.

While I have some anatomy lab and lectures each week and a small quiz on ONLY that material once a week, all the other classes I'm concurrently taking--genetics, histo, embryo, physio+intro pharm--are just saving up and saving up for a giant test after the third week. So when you were talking about a big exam, I didn't think you meant just anatomy...or did you?

First day of class today. I love PBL. Tomorrow we practice taking a history on a standardized patient, for 20 minutes, and that's all we have scheduled for that day. The rest of the day shall be for researching the PBL case/Mystery Diagnosis. Weeee!!!!

I feel weird compared to you guys.... Our first test isn't for another 6 weeks. But yea it's gonna be a doozy...

I can tell that staying awake is going to be the hard part of med school for me (so that I can study, pay attn in class, etc.). I just napped from like 6-9 and now I'm trying to decide if I want to get food, or finish my homework, or what. Also fell asleep during orientation.

"This bores me. Is anyone up for a game of basketball?"

I came close to crying like 3 times in class today. Hearing the life stories of ex-gang members is super sad.

And then I went home and watched 4 hours of The Millionaire Matchmaker.

Business trip. I miss him already, but he'll only be gone until Thursday. 🙁

Aww.

If we had enough advance warning, we would have prepared an appropriate welcome:
