Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hope I don't see any med students in white coats and scrubs at the Halloween parties.

The only acceptable one was someone in our class who went as one of our professor emeritus. Absolutely hilarious cause the impersonation was down to a T.

I might be doing this, but I'm not going to a party, just giving out candy with Geekling while my husband takes Chicklet around trick-or-treating. I still have too much postpartum jelly belly to fit into my standard pirate chick costume.

my strategy for studying tonight:

1. invest 3 hours watching paranormal activity 3 and insidious
2. be too scared to sleep
3. finally get some studying done after wasting the last 14 hours

ETA: so far this plan is a failure; i'm getting really sleepy and PN3 wasn't scary. also, i've eaten so many gummy worms that i now feel slightly fat and sick

ETA: aaaand insidious was too scary. now i'm too afraid to close my eyes long enough to wash my face

Lol, strong work.

Any scary movie suggestions for Halloween? Preferably something made within the last 3-4 years. Open to foreign flicks as well.

I'm currently doing a 10 minutes of Shutter Island/10 minutes of anatomy lectures cycle. I'll let you know how scary it ends up being

I don't believe in ghosts or demons or anything supernatural, so the scariness of Insidious wore off once I turned the lights on 😳 What really scares me are stories about plain old human murderers, stuff that could actually happen to me, no matter how unlikely. Like Zodiac...that one got me pretty bad...

I liked Insidious and how the ghosts were material, not just moving shadows and creaking floorboards. It scared me a lot.

Insidious was good, and a foreign scary flick is El Orfanato. It's a little less scary than Insidious, but it has a good twist and a creepy looking kid.

I absolutely REFUSE to watch "The Strangers" for this exact reason. No way will you ever get me to see that movie.

Sun, your new avatar confuses me.

Nu uh, it's hilarious and hopefully mathematically accurate...well, it makes sense to me, but I never got very far in math, so maybe my idea of polar coordinates isn't based on anything real lol...also, it has an unintentional double function of baiting all the people who are currently up in arms about rainbow pins or whatever

Thanks for the suggestion! I just finished it. It wasn't that bad except for that images of stabbings get to me a lot more than gun violence :scared: It also reminded me of Last House on the Left, which might be even scarier! I'll find out soon heheh

But no movie will ever be as scary as the first time I saw The Ring. Also, the part of Saw where the guy is in his dark house taking pictures in order to use his camera flash for light and the guy in the creepy clown mask finally jumps him...And the part of saw where he abducts the guy from the car/parking lot...Saw in general...

You better start believing in troll interviews...

You're in one!

You know what interview questions you are going to ask? We can't be on the admissions committee until next year. 🙁

wow. Yes it is. I'm not sure i can handle watching the rest of it. Right now i kind of just want to quit med school and become a lawyer who prosecutes rapists

do it do it more residency spots for the rest of us. Hahahaha

Just watched the entire second season of Dexter, back-to-back, with no breaks. This can't be good for me.

Just wait until you get to season 4 :meanie:
I loved season 4. This season is turning out to be pretty intriguing as well, probably my favorite season other than 4 so far.

Neuro is kicking my behind right now. Galloping through the entire class in less than a month, with about 3 hours of dense lecture a day. Ick. Really looking forward to learning the physical exam to break that up, HEENT this week!

Excited about two things:

1) We're now allowed to interview applicants!

I would pay to see this. 👍 Let us know the name of your YouTube channel, I expect to see a few dozen by this time next year.

I realized something today. Med school is great except for the last 7 days before an exam. Then it sucks. Hard.

Definitely agree. Few days before an exam = pretty stressful. All other days = not very stressful at all. I daresay most days are even enjoyable.

the test I just took was a disaster  *P=MD, P=MD, P=MD...*

one more test to go...then a party, if we don't all crash before then

but the 3 day weekend afterward will make it all better 😳👍

Ugh.

We are coming up on another test on Monday. I miss our anatomy schedule, tests every two weeks makes me freak out (especially learning half a semester of neuro in 6 days.)

Psh, that was our schedule during anatomy. I feel ya... it sucked. I'm loving this test every few weeks thing.

So, tests should always be every few weeks, not every couple weeks.

I would not have wanted to go through anatomy at that breakneck speed. You made it though, right?

Correction: tests should be every couple of months 😀

I think I found the perfect research gig for me... I'm swooning. I hope I can beat out some of the really intense kids in my class for it :xf:

Good luck, Daisy and Kaushik!

Daisy, is it an eyeball thing?

I'm starting to get serious about anesthesia, but there aren't many summer programs available. 🙁

ANATOMY IS DONE IN T-36 HOURS. HOLY CRAP, THIS IS AWESOME. No more smelling my hands while eating my lunch after lab and immediately thinking of someones ischioanal fossa. 😎

I see Lippincotts Biochem peeking around the corner. Why, hello new friend. GET IN MY HEAD.

We have anatomy and histology exams every two weeks, but they alternate, so that every other week we have an exam and practical. All of this culminates to next week when we go: histo #3, histo NBME, anatomy #4, anatomy in-house final. :scared:

I'm happy with our one exam every 4 weeks schedule. 3 weeks off, 1 week on.

On another note, I have ridiculous amounts of free time this block... it feels like undergrad all over again. Maybe I should get a research gig. What kind of research should I look for if I'm not sure about specialty choice?
