Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
and artimacia, while do you feel behind? like i said before, your mdapps puts us to shame, no joke

I guess it's that I know I have a lot of stuff, but I get freaked out when people have hundreds of hours of clinical volunteering, lots of shadowing, and I haven't even gone back and I just turn into a nervous wreck. I guess it just stems from my fear of not getting in anywhere 🙁

edit: just realized, the reason coffee gets a bad rap is cause caffeine is apparently addicting. i don't really notice this addictive effect tho, anyone else?

i used to be insanely addicted (like a crack addict on the street addicted) but now if i don't get my morning cup i just get a slight headache and feel slower by 4pm. it really helps me wake up, but when i'm cramming i tend to have a few cups late night, like now.

hahahhaha i love cramming, ill be cramming on weds and thurs for sure

i suck at it, but its the only way i roll
hence my gpa

key is to walk in with confidence = get the A

Usually (depending on the circumstances), I do better when I cram because I focus more

talk to you guys tomorrow, gonna do some mcat studying

Coffee is good stuff. It's got flavanoids and antioxidants and phytochemicals (i think). I drink at least 2 cups a day. Coffee is the only thing that makes me get up at the crack of dawn. Caffeine isn't bad for you in moderation either. MSG is the stuff you want to avoid.

So, drink it up, i raelly dont know why coffee gets the bad rap? while tea is considered some kind of fountain of youth lol

oh yea, and about the test, don't sweat it.

I go through periods where I have to give up caffeine b/c it stops working and actually starts to make me tired/crash. Right now I'm drinking no coffee but 1 double or triple size Rockstar a day in the early afternoon.

AMEN BROTHAH. although the last time i did the walk in with confidence thing for a test i did not do well hahaha

(minus the mcat, i confidence-d the sh i t out of it)

do you have an anti-coffee drug or something....that would really help

non-caffeinated tea, herbal teas, like celestial seasonings, usually do a little bit of an anti-coffee effect.

msb, we're applying osteo,
let's start a new trend
i think you should be the OG, and start a 2015 thread in pre-osteo
i can't take credit for 2 threads
it would be so epic
i pretty much gave up on doing work tonight

do it msb, youre the man lol

I got you Vercetti, we got this!

Oh ok I see you. 1k member now, huh? I took quite the hiatus from SDN this weekend and studying because I took a little weekend getaway. Much needed.

yea who would've thought it. lol
i'm out though, man, i'll talk to you later

I need to post more so I can get to 1,000

Same thing happens to me all the time... and I have no chance of doing any shadowing unless I manage to snag a doctor over spring break =\ or right after school gets out + right before AMCAS opens.

Haha, I would never travel to space. I think it's the thought of being out in space, seeing the blackness, the earth, is so beautiful that it's terrifying (weird, huh?)

Anyway, I was going to say something...but then I forgot. I'll update you all when I remember 🙂

Two more days till spring break! woo!

people say cramming is bad, i look at it in a diff way

if we can do well cramming a large amount of info in a short amount of time, it shows we are intellectually smart, and have the capacity to amass a lot of info in a short period of time. Thus for med school, it is merely an issue of having the motivation to study with that same intensity for a longer period of time (a.k.a daily) - something that is conceptually possible, at least.

Like I said before, in most cases, I do better when I cram because I'm more focused

I used to cram before I made the pre-med commitment, but found I couldn't break the B+ range. I do much better if I start reviewing/relearning material about 3 days before exam time, then "cram" everything once more the night before. It's amazing how much "knowing" how to study makes a difference. Why don't they teach us this in high school? Bastards...

yes! exactly, same here

I'm usually the same. I'll look over some stuff, but not cram until last day, I usually do pretty well, unless it's like physics or something, then I'm a lost cause.

So you guys are tag-teaming now? I sense a blooming bromance.

man, don't get me started about studying for a physics test... i'm in the same boat as you, Artimacia

Seriously FloatOn?

Don't bring yours and Vercetti's drama into what I thought we had as a friendship. Class of 2014 seems to lack just that, class.

Don't worry FloatOn, bromances are totally healthy in straight men.

Seems like you had a rough week, can I make things better?

I'm cool with the rest of 2015. SOMEONE, though, still has a plus next to his name when it shouldn't be there. That's ok, IV, your considerate question has bumped you out of the red zone and earned you 3.47 points. You can earn an extra 50 and a cookie if you take my test for me tomorrow.

Fair enough. I rescind my comment about 2014. Continue.

Hm, cookies huh? You're a good cook?

Your value just shot up 1000 points.
You just never cease to amaze me FloatOn.

Haha. You sound like such a mellow person in real life.

No, but I'm slowly learning so I don't starve next year. And with the cookies, I just buy the pre-made ones where you break the pieces off of the bigger square and stick it in the oven. I'm all about simplicity.

It's all good, I can't tell the difference with cookies anyway. But, you just happen to be talking to the right guy.

Me and you, this weekend, come to my place. I'll teach you how to make chicken masala. We can do your cookies as desert. Taste and simplicity, it will be amazing.

Sound good? I'm getting hungry already.

Holy **** I love that stuff. Tikka masala, right? If you add in naan and dal, it's a deal. I actually found this random recipe online for an Indian curry soup. It didn't taste very Indian, but it turned out pretty well. I feel like only Indian people can make good Indian food. Everyone else is just lying.

Is that so? I always loved coming back home, eating the good food, all that. And then one day, it struck me - one day I'll prob be married to a girl who has no idea how to make this stuff. So, I asked her to teach me lol, carry on the tradition of great food.

Naan is so easy to make. Well, practically speaking, you'll have a tough time "making" it; just buy it at the asian food store, and cook it up in the oven. As far as Dal, you can probably buy that also, it really would be a pain to try to make from scratch.

But as far as Masala, you'll just have to wait and learn from the pro.

(msb, what did i say? vercetti's masala brings all the girls to the yard)

Your boy's not here to back you up. What a pity.

haha. me and curbs will meet up with you guys for drinks after our steak dinner.

You better be happy I haven't kicked you out already. I own this thread. I'm only letting you stay for ulterior motives.

Besides, what kind of name is FloatOn? Yea, floating off to nowhere, exactly

I take that back, msb, no drinks anymore. IV, if you're going to hate on me, at least have it make sense. I'm floatin on to med school, be-otch.

she's going to take those points back

You damnnnn straight I am. Now you're at -2014. AND NO MORE COOKIES FOR YOU.

Also, Float On is a Modest Mouse song that has meaning, unlike someone's life.

Edit: Ok, that was not nice. I take it back because I don't want to get a warning from some random person. But the song is actually good. You should check it out.

Are there actually people out there who don't know what song you're talking about?
