Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Going off of Elijah's advice, here are the dates of when I received all of my secondaries:

Baylor - June 15th
LSU-NO - June 25th (not like this really matters to y'all)
Maryland - July 8th
Ohio St - June 25th
OHSU - Sep 15th
St Louis U - July 9th
Vanderbilt - August 17th (remember this one is variable and only if you get interview)
Vermont - July 21st
UVA - July 6th
VCU - July 10th *** The only one that changed prompts from the year before
Wake Forest - July 22nd
Emory - Aug 24th
Loyola - July 24th
NYU - July 15th
Pitt - June 29th

Hope this helps for those with some of these schools on your lists. :luck:
This is really helpful, thanks! So schools don't get your information until later June, but they do get that you're Verified applying to their school instantly?

I'm verified... CumGPA went up by .01 from calculated lol.

Need to decide if I'm really gonna shoot Vermont an app... Found out from CCLCM that they'll take online credit, so I can do biochem at UC Berkeley extension if I get accepted.

Haha, I wonder how that happens. I hope mine goes up, I'm right on the cusp. I really wish I hadn't had such a crappy last semester.

I'm still trying to decide about 3 schools - Baylor, CCLCM, and Michigan. Hmm...

can u add more schools after you make your initial submission?

Well, if you like those schools, I'm sure you can get in wherever you want.

Yeah, I think it's partially just deciding whether or not I'm into them. Oh well, I have a little while before I'm going to be verified anyway. And wherever I like? Eh, I think I have a good shot, but it's not like I'm a slam dunk into Harvard.

We had a lot of new people today, we need to recruit them to help us achieve the greatness that is 2014's thread...

we've gone over this before....its quality not quantity hahaha

but seriously, we need more people here

Hi guys! I"m kinda new to SDN...but applying this cycle and soo pumped for it! 😀

I'm off work tomorrow. My goal is to finish inputting my work and activities, then submitting.

I can submit for verification before AMCAS gets my LORs, right? I think I know the answer but I don't want to fug it up.

itunes is slackin on selection tonight

for instance, no machel montano alright or sexy chick in spanish.

coming up with a good vacation for a good price is so difficult

...back to the app...

I hate pulling an idiot move, but I for sure pulled one yesterday.

I double and triple checked all parts of my app...except for my LOR assignments. A few schools are going to get too many letters, and since I've already submitted, it seems to be too late to fix it?

Thoughts?

I am sure adcoms hate people who can't follow directions. I am such a *******. How badly is this going to hurt me?

:bang:

Hey guys! 🙂 I've visited this thread before a few times, and since I officially sent in my application yesterday I figured I should join in. I can't believe it's already June.

I heard that on the secondaries you pick what lettes you want so it's supposed to be all good dog.

Hey Eveyone!

Any word on how long the verifications are taking right now? I submitted my app at 1pm(I guess 4pm Eastern Time) on June 1st and still waiting.

I submitted my app at about 8:30 am (11:30 eastern) on June 1st and got verified this morning at 9 am.

I submitted yesterday at 9:30 PST, was verified today around 11am.

No worries, I applied to 26 schools and only 2 had a maximum limit of 4, a couple had a maximum of 5-8. The vast majority stated their "required letters," usually 3... however they don't state a maximum. I sent 5 LOR to all of the schools that didn't specify a maximum number of letters. Did they expect I wasn't going to include a letter from my research PI or the doctor I've worked with for 3 years? They must be crazy if they thought that.

If they don't specify a maximum, after you meet their requirements anything else you think will help is fair game to send.

I would relax.

New people are just coming out of the woodwork!

all these new folks. good deal.
They sure are 👍 We needed some new faces... especially the cute girl who has her picture up... hello 🙂 haha

Yes, you can add letters (up to a maximum of 10), but you can't delete letters once they've been sent.

 heed the advice

Right now I'm excited... not stressed at all... yet 😀

oaklandguy has been on hiatus too. they're probably all chillin with How

I want our exclaimation points put back in the thread title... just throwing that out there. It is officially our turn now and we deserve it 👍

It only stresses me out because it 1.) Is one of my pet peeves (people who don't follow clearly defined directions and 2.) Was completely avoidable.

If you know for sure it is a non-issue, then I appreciate the "take a chill pill" thing.....but if not....then the advice is not necessary🙂 One post asking a question does not make me a stress case; and I mostly emphasized my stupidity because I preferred that I did it instead of one of you🙂

If two of the five letters are going to get tossed without me choosing which ones, that makes me a little sad, because I would have liked to have had the executive decision on it.

rHinO1; I missed three schools that did have maximums sent. Bad news is that 2/3 were very high on my list. I know that when I have decision making power over a large group of applicants for a job I automatically toss out the people who don't follow directions and seem to lack common sense. I'd just hate to be a casualty.

well they did it to be a bunch of b!tches, but now that we actually like it they probably hate that...

BU: "One committee letter or three individual letters, 2 of which are from science professors"
Brown: "One committee letter or three individual letters"
Yale: "Three letters from teachers, 2 in the sciences".

Are you saying that if it isn't clearly stated as "3 maximum" then it's fine?

I would argue that in court.

That is my opinion... I concluded that the 3 letters they ask for were required and they left it open for more by not specifically stating a maximum. I think that if they don't want more then they will state that... which is what some schools do. Others say they require 3 and state more letters are welcome.

Edit: Some schools like the ones you listed leave it open ended so they can't be mad if you send more. I think they just want you to fulfill the 3 types of letters they ask for before you send more.

what's everyone's top school choice?

Other than Harvard 😛

I am really interested in CCLCM!

wait so im a little confused now, do i need to add my letters before i submit?!? all my letters are still at my schools career center they have NOT been sent out to aamc yet

Sweet....thanks rHinO1.

I'm a non-trad so I haven't spent the last few years hearing the lore like you guys have, so I appreciate the help🙂

no, you can submit without them. When you add them later they will be made available to the school in a matter of minutes (or instantly). You can also designate your letters to the schools before they arrive if you want.

No, you don't have to add before you submit...but I HAD added...so I couldn't change it.

No prob, I've spent entirely too much time on SDN lately

I'm a non trad too btw

i had far worse app mistakes last year and i too worried like you. In the end no one cared. They may or may not get tossed but often the secondaries ask for you to write the names of your letter writers and they can then pick and choose (thus making your "problem" a non issue). They all come electronically and its very easy for them to get them and choose. In fact as far as i remember every 2ndary i did last year asked me for this info. I know for sure its a non issue also as i did the same thing at some of these schools that stressed only 3 letters or w/e. Guess what i was accepted. So i was trying to convey to you its likely not a huge deal in the grand scheme of the app process. If they want you trust me they will not care.
