Phillip Rivers is among the league leaders in every way... 2 years ago he lead the league in TD's (tied w/ Drew Brees). The Chargers for each of the last 3 years have been picked before the season began to win it all... and they have made the playoffs for.... hmmm..... I'm not going to google it but I'd say 5 out of the last 6 seasons. We've also gone to the AFC championship game 2 (3?) times in that period.

No respect... but that is ok, I know LA has a tough time following football since they don't have a team :meanie:

BTW: Ryan Mathews is my fantasy team sleeper this year... he's going to have 1000+ yard with the Chargers.

well, yeah i agree his offensive rating and his passing abilities are one of the best in the league

but for some reason, he comes up short in big games (ie AFC championship games)

plus, who would you rather have PR or drew brees...even before he had the championship

edit: i would have PR because of brees' injury, i take that one back

For sure, we are going to make it happen. I didn't have time for mlb this year b/c the games are everynight... but football we are doing for sure!

point # 1) PR is not why they lost those games... he had like 300+ yards in some of the games they lost. Football involves a bit of luck too.

point # 2) The Chargers weren't sure if Brees' career was done... I would take both those guys over just about anybody (except peyton or brady in their primes... they are getting old though).

On a related note: Matt Shaub is a fantasy stud haha

Excuse me! I have NEVER said wooder. I say water. My Philadelphian accent is probably pretty lacking. I never had much of one to begin with, IMO, and then vocal training in undergrad wiped a lot of it out, too.

shaub is a beast in the fantasy game haha...too bad the team has sucked these last few years...they're the weirdest team, they win against tough opponents but lose to the crappiest teams sometimes

Oh just tell me how you feel about it! The comments I got yesterday from one of the nurse managers I work with:
1.) It is gritty, in a good way
2.) Very diverse but not segregated
3.) Docs marry nurses and cops (I found that observation interesting)
4.) It is a good place to live and, being the east coast, compared to CA everything is a short train ride away

Agree? Disagree? Other things to add? Is it dog friendly?

yeah, they have weird seasons. I drafted Steve Slaton in the second round last year... what a turd. Shaub and Johnson are legit though. Their roided out rookie defensive back from USC is a beast too.

I had Charger season tickets for the last 4 years, field level. I had to give them up this year to pay for apps.

When I have the money I want to have awesome seats and I'll have the most bad azz tail gating set up... RV or at least a couple easy ups, bbq, plasma with a satellite dish on a tri-pod... awesome food with lots of good looking girls and all my boys 👍

1. I'm not sure what you mean by that. Neighborhoods can get shady pretty fast (you go a few too many blocks and it gets scary). Some neighborhoods are pretty scary (like around Temple's main campus... the medical school isn't as bad but it's by no means good. The campus itself is very safe, though).

2. Diverse, yes. Segregation really depends on the area. I grew up in NE Philly and everyone I knew was Irish/Italian/Polish/German Catholic. It probably didn't help that I went to Catholic school, but that was the case. I think it's blending more, now, but a lot of areas are still very heavily of a particular race. I think the areas around the schools are pretty mixed.

3. Hmmm... can't say. I didn't know any docs married to any cops or nurses that I knew of, except for one married to a CNM. I haven't really asked most of them, you know?

4. Septa's train lines and regional rail have a good system in regards to getting into and out of the city. Sometimes they are unreliable in the winter, though. I live in the 'burbs and if I walked down the hill to the train station I would be downtown in about 30 minutes. We're actually hoping to stay in this area and buy a house and I will commute to school.

5. Depends on what you mean by dog-friendly. Also depends on the area. I'm pretty sure there are dog parks in Center City, and there is one about a mile south of us (there is a large Jewish community around here, too, IMO... I thought you might like to know that 😉 ). Where I grew up, nada. Most people let their dogs run off-leash on the campus of an area high school, but you weren't really supposed to do that.

msb, I know next to nothing about PM&R except for the basics. I've only ever worked with orthos, PTs, and OTs. Want to share any info you have? Though I love ortho, like rHinO1 mentioned it is a boys club. I don't fit into the lifestyle really. On the weekends I don't want to run marathons or rappel down a cliff; I want to sleep in, do some yoga, and scrub my bathtub🙂 Is PM&R a little more mellow in personality? Where do people go for residency?

This is why I love medicine....you learn something new every day.

Especially in SD... it is like being on vacation everyday. I would rather live here in SD than LA or SF (I lived in SF for a year btw). Weather is nicer, people are more laid back, things are spread out so it doesn't feel crowded, the beaches are nicer than anywhere else in Cali, and the freeways are quick and easy without too bad of a rush hour.
 
No way are we going to the West Coast. We're all coming to Philly and setting up a bitchin' ortho and rehab practice that caters to all 4 of our pro sports teams. WOO!

Whatever. The food alone could keep me in Philly forever, though sometimes I'd like to move, but it would be somewhere cooler/farther north.

i dont know any real details of PM&R. the pmr people i've met were pretty happy and said they're residency was never that bad. it sounds like its a PT, but you're a doc.

downtown SD is one of the most amazing place in southern cali i must admit

gaslamp district? you know what im talkin about rhino

my friend's dad actually owns a hotel right in downtown right by little italy

1.) I had no idea what she meant by that either! Though I was picturing Law and Order-esque type personalities

2.) Mixed is good.

3.) Yeah, that one I thought was an interesting observation on her part🙂 The convo started off about her having a nice mocha colored baby because she and her husband are both blonde and pale. I offered my brother for her services and she was thrilled. Then it morphed into interracial and inter....disciplinary? relationships. Then it morphed into Philly for med school. It was like a 2 hour convo while working🙂

4.) Thats good to hear; I prefer to live in a suburb, especially for the pup.

5.) Hahahaha, YES. Jews.😍
