it does take longer for AACOMAS. they have a 5 day policy thing where they have 5 business days to verify your trany after they receive it.

I'd wait a couple weeks before getting too nervous (which is hard, especially considering your mishap with nyboo already).

My grad school got entered on the same day. Undergrad was received on a two day delay with AACOMAS.

I am not a fan of the statement "oh I almost did X" when X is something you can't really just do on accident. I know a lot of people who make the statement "oh I was going to go to law school" or "I almost went to law school" when they CLEARLY didn't. So the joke is that those people were "going to go" to Princeton Law🙂

Just stopping in to wish everyone luck this cycle! I've been following it to prepare for next cycle when I apply.

i have a psuedo list just based on the 40 or schools i applied to if you wanted to know some of them. But theres no list that im aware of. It would be pretty easy to make one yourself though based on the threads.
 
Finally went to go take my G-License exam. My G2 was about to expire in mid july and there aint no way I can survive without a car.

i just ordered a butt load of sushi to celebrate my little victory.

oh and I am officially AMCAS verified! 🙂

That would be sweet, if you just have it sitting on your computer or something =). Searching through 20 school threads is a bit annoying but I guess I should do it anyway!

Im havin a weird day.

first i went to calc class and the teacher surprised us with a take home final(!!!). after class a kid Ive never talked to before tried to exchange phone numbers with me to work on the test together (um, wtf...and you didn't even wait till we were outside the classroom!)

then I came home to find that my starfish had eaten my new coral frag for which i had just purchased a new rock to secure it to. now I dont need the rock.

then in the midst of being sad about my coral, my mom found a tiny baby spiny urchin in my tank. its sick. black with purple spikes.


usa advancing was the frosting on the cake. i'll admit im not the biggest fan of us soccer, of course I root for them, but I was extremely pleased when they pulled it out today.....they were cheated, twice, and they deserved to advance. they earned this one.


I miss baller. and artmetica. remember her?

Ill list only the ones i applied to that are on your md apps...

case - stayed same
dartmouth - same
UCSF - same
vandy - same
UCSD - same (though the character requirement can fluctuate a bit its the same essay each year)

Unfortunately you are applying to mostly top 15 schools or so, so i didnt apply to most of those schools since i am far far from an all star applicant. But like i said before out of the 45 or so schools i applied too, at best 4 changed and only 1-2 changed dramatically. so you likely shouldnt have to worry it seems schools rarely change these things.

there are 3 levels of drivers license in Canada, the first is G1 (can drive with some1 experienced in passenger seat), G2 (can drive on ur own, 0% alcohol in blood) G = full license aka basically u can have some alcohol in u lol.

weird days are better than bad days. and it turns out while i was taking my drivers test there was an earthquake that registered 4 in the rikter (sp?) scale LOL and every1 on my facebook is freaking out its so weird.

man that quadroooople post almost knocked me out

Thanks!! I went through the 09 threads and copied down all of the secondary prompts. Looks like I REALLY only have to write ~10 different essays (instead of 20) because so many are similar.

But this brings me to a point that I think we all talk about every once in a while: why do MD schools assume that we've all had dramatic, difficult, life-changing experiences? I feel like most of my friends and I have had "normal", not-too-difficult, middle-class lives... The "worst" I can write about is moving around as a military kid, but I try not to take such a pessimistic "difficult obstacles you've overcome" attitude and instead look at it like "new adventures to be had."
 
thats pretty crazy. driving is a privilege that most of us take for granted here in the states. I was drivin the truck on my farm by 14. never got my license till I was 17 (can get it unrestricted at 16). and we all can drive with a blood alcohol of less than .08 ( i think).

and a coral frag is just a small piece of coral thats been spliced off a bigger pace. its how you buy them from the fish store. they are glued to a frag, or a plug (same thing, just a base).

could you feel the earthquake? thats pretty freaky. the worst Ive been through is like 4 feet of snow. :laugh:

same. Im pretty much straight up average jane. :yawn:
 
they dont assume that youve had them as much as if you have them, they want to know. Its part of the reason why that non-trads/minorities/disadvantaged, get in when you have maybe less then all star stats. I know rhino has said a few times in the msar the average income of accepted students parents is like 100k+. There no data on this (i dont think), but honestly you can assume at least 85% of the ppl applying are just like you. Normal middle/upper class kids who had a comfortable life and didnt have any major disadvantages. So dont worry if you are just a typical pre med so much as very few have interesting stories and are still accepted.

Personally i think they put it in so they can sorta find "diamonds" in the rough. A 3.6 gpa and 30 mcat can defiantly mean several things depending on that person and his background/life experiences.

my biggest problem right now is trying to figure out what to feed my stomach for dinner.
 
I was actually gonna go for a salad, I'm craving croutons and ranch. mostly ranch. I have very specific cravings.

meh. I like salad, but I could never get full by solely eating salad. I'd have to eat so much. I need something heavy on the side..I'd probably have hummus/baba ganoush on to go along with the salad.

potatoes, bread, pasta, vege's....they do most of the filling.

Glad you like it! I had to make that thread after a coworker literally asked me if I got in anywhere yet TODAY. WTF? Really? I had to ask for clarification. Then I wanted to do this... :slap:
