I'm thinking about trying to drive to many of the schools instead of flying (assuming I get interviews). It's all so expensive. By driving I can save on airfare and taxis and not have to worry about my interview-clothes-containing luggage getting sent to the wrong city by the baggage handlers. Cons: I will arrive at the school exhausted and in a terrible mood from the loooooong road trip. It's lose/lose.

I heard when you're interviewing for residencies, they pay to fly you out to them and take you out to nice dinners, etc. Because at that point, you aren't a worthless pre-med anymore. THAT POINT OF MY LIFE SEEMS SO FAR AWAY

Well we can stay with student hosts to save on hotels. And for taxis, there's hitch-hiking! Apparently 2015 is an attractive bunch so the ladies shouldn't have any problems getting a ride. 😛

But buy 8 get 1 free is a problem I'd love to have. 8 interviews would be awesome

That point will be here soon enough my man, we just have to keep going. I dont think you can save money by driving though, maybe the shorter distances, but cross country is always cheaper to fly and stay with a student host

near every school does student hosts, take advantage of this most defiantly. I did at everyone and saved tons. Taxis is kinda meh it sucks. I remember at a few of my interviews i just asked everyone if anyone was going to X airport and minded if i hitched a ride. Often time a lot of kids drive to and from the interview/airports with rental cars. I know that doesnt make a lot of sense but remember a lot of the kids you are probably going to interview with have rich parents, so i met all types of kids who not only got rental cars but turned them into liek week long crazy vacations...or maybe i just interviewed on the days rich kids did who knows lol. At most places you will spend a lot of time with the 10-30 people that are also interviewing so this can be done. Its up to you 🙂

Because of it, I found out that someone I don't want to run into dances at the studio I am now dancing at🙁 Not sure what to do with this information except hope that I don't see him there. Ever.

He was my chiropractor....and I unfortunately know a lot about him that makes me uncomfortable with him as a human. Two of my friends worked for him; one as an office manager and one as a massage therapist. The therapist was sexually harassed by him (very aggressively physically and verbally) and quit. The office manager was injured (not on the job) and because she got injured was fired. Unfortunately dealing with her injury made it so she couldn't really fight back.

Then there is all of the conversation directly from him about "banging chicks" that were not his wife, and how horrible his wife was, and how he was only staying with her because of the 3 kids they had (one of which she was pregnant with when we were having several of these conversations about cheating)

Why oh why do people like to confess things to me🙁

The worst part is that I NEVER tried to further these conversations....he just talked.

My mom still went to him while she was trying to find someone else, and one day she shows up for her appointment and there is a note on the door saying "The tenant has defaulted on their lease...etc etc". He just disappeared without calling his clients and my mom had been a client of his since he opened practice years ago.

Since then I've seen him at the gym I work out at and it is just.....uncomfortable.

And he also used to like to make comments about my weight (in both directions) which was really freaking annoying.

It's funny, I actually was trying to convince myself that I was stupid to feel uncomfortable....
But then when I saw it all typed out like that I realized that I totally have a reason to feel uncomfortable.

You may need a little vacation. Yes, you are a reapplicant but you're coming into this cycle with a new game plan, and you can make this happen. You can drive to the interviews that are close by, fly to those that aren't, and once you have an acceptance you can decline those interviews that are really far away. But you will make it, even if the next year is misery.

Just get really stressed out over your secondaries. It will supress your immune system. That way, although whatever is making you sick will run rampant, at least you won't feel "sick" from your immune response.

I've passed the screen at 2 schools, may not have at a third (have no idea why), and I'm still waiting to hear about 2 more (no one else has gotten secondaries from these schools yet, so I'm not concerned yet).

Yes, unfortunately it is true. My essays just don't seem to translate between schools. Lately, all of the ones I've written are "why do you want to attend this school?"

Also, I have different responses to:
"What diversity do you bring to your med school class?"
"What experiences do you think have prepared you to serve a diverse patient population?"

Also, my responses tend to vary according to the length. Some are 250 words, 350 words, or 600 words.

the UCs and USC tend to ask all the same thing if it makes you feel better, youll def be recycling them😉. UCI, ucsf, and UCD are pretty easy, but UCLA is a bitch. So many damn questions. I wont count ucsd since they rejected me pre 2ndary even! 🙁
