Sincerly,

And because cliff dropped the ball =P

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Application cycles lead to fear and the dark side."
wasn't bleargh signature this quote but in reference to the mcat, haha. so applicable to a pre-med

haha, finally someone else got nabbed with the vagina post card. always a good laugh rhino.

Yes, empirically tested to be 10x more delicious than generic or regular cinnamon rolls and 15x more delicious than cinnabon.

I think we need to do some rigorous research on this matter. And we need to collect A LOT of data points...

And the peer review process should be extra thorough. Everyone should be able to replicate your results.

It's a hard job, but someone's gotta do it.

The grocery store =) I've rolled up at like 2AM to buy a gallon of milk and cinnamon rolls before 😎

hmm. Gourmet at a grocery store? I'm skeptical. But now I want cinnamon rolls. And they take too long to make because the dough has to rise.

not if you go to the store and pop open a can of pilsbury goodness!

I do concur, Dr. Whimsy. We should work on our grand proposal.

Maybe not as-gourmet as ducky's world-famous bakery, but pretty damn good for being from a grocery store =)

Hell, if that was bleargh's signature, I better stay away from it..All I need is for him to go after my painful vagina....

Random Question: How are you guys bringing your suits on the plane for interviews so that they don't get wrinkled? Are you carrying them on a hanger? Folding them? 😕

I might carry one of those bags for suits as on of my carry ons. Or whatever works.

I think I'll probably get a garment bag. The ones that hold only 1 or 2 suits are often made in a "carry-on" size.

I know one trick. If you carry it in the suitcase, you can always hang it in the bathroom of your hotel room, turn the shower on (really hot) and let the steam build up with the door closed. If you keep it there for 15 minutes, it will look pretty good... (do not hang it on the shower head though!! 😀 )

Otherwise, just carry it on a hanger. By the way, are you taking more than one suit?...

:laugh: I'll tell my interviewers I'm going for the "just jumped in a pool" look.

I feel like I would mess up with that shower method and a disaster would happen...lol

I'm not sure if I'm bringing more than one suite; I'm still debating. If I take it as a carry on, I doubt anything would happen to it. Worse thing that could happens is I get food on it during lunch on interview day, but its not like I'm going to slip on a new suit in the middle of the day. I'll probably only take my other suit if I have more than 1 interview in the same city.

There's some tricks out there to folding a suit. I'm still undecided on this, whether to fold or investing in a garment bag (try to find an inexpensive one but taking a peak at google now is scary of the prices) or getting one of those like hanger bag things.

Whichever method you use: immediately take it out and hang it up when you get to the hotel. Inspect for any wrinkles, so you can deal with them the day/night before.

What is the difference between a garment bag and a hanger bag?

p.s. I'd be scared to fold my suit.

btw...Found this on google...

"i'm a flight attendant myself, so here's some insider tips:
there's a coat compartment on board every aircraft. so hand-carry ur suit in its original hanger&bag.
here's the important point: u don't want ur suit to be the first to go in the compartment, cause when other jackets, coats..etc show up, urs will be smashed between them and the headboard.
also, during boarding, the aisles are very crowded, so make sure u keep the suit on ur lap until the cabin calms down. u can't expect the FA to guard ur suit like her own, trying to make her way thru that aisle of commotion.
lastly, physically go to forward galley urself and ask with ur sweetest voice "where's the coat compartment please?" & cross ur fingers that they are too busy to hang it themselves that they'll just point at it. the idea is, hanging ur own coat in there, u can make sure its not randomly stuffed in, folded or something.
in case u don't get lucky, observe where they're hanging it so during the flight u can go& make sure it's hung properly.
NOTE: the reason u approach "forward" galley is no-brainer, thats the direction passengers are offloaded 95% of the time, so u can pick it up on ur way out. obviously much easier than rowing against the aisle current after the landing."

I don't know the name for it. But I've seen those covers that zip up around a hanger... I didn't even know the name for a garment bag until recently.

I think I might go with this (~$100) and some downey wrinkle releasing spray (just in case).

http://www.skyroll.com/garment-bag/

Downy wrinkle spray is ridiculous! So money.

I think they are called suit bags, and you should be able to find them at walmart for ~$10.

I haven't posted in this thread (or on SDN) since...April? 😳 Anyways, how is everyone tonight?

I got passed over for a Creighton interview today. It's like last year's application cycle all over again. Very depressing... 🙁

👎 at Creighton. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get interviews elsewhere. It is still early in the cycle! :luck:

I think I got passed over too. But I have conflicting emails about my completeness so who knows. 😕

Last year, this youtube video taught me how to fold my suit for packing:

👍

This + a lint roller helps clean your suit up pretty well.

Good luck '15!

Considering what you do in the hospital, I'm guessing that is a common symptom in your department .

Regardless of how I pack my suit (strictly carry-on; i'm not checking anything) I'm taking a steam iron with me. I would recommmed one for all y'all, it's cheap and effective.

indeed it was..

isn't that usually the result of a good thing?

Funny you mentioned the mdapplicants site. If I recall correctly, this whole thing started when I ruffled some feathers by asking someone why he had an MDAPPLICANTS ID in his profile when it was actually not set up..or deleted. I was curious about that. What was the idea? To have people intentionally click on the link to be led to an ERROR PAGE?...All very benign, but I guess we never know about other people sensitivities...

i'm pretty sure you asked me about my mdapps.
1) i'm not a he (i know my sn is ambiguous...my old avatar made it clear i'm a she...and if you look at my user page i think my non-maleness is apparent.

2) i used to have a mdapps page. i deleted it when i turned in my amcas which coincided with my triumphant return to sdn. it was an awesome page, no doubt, but you would have been upset with it anyway because i didn't give my gpa or my mcat or any specifics about my life experiences.

3) i am a very private person about my life. there are very few facts about me lurking on this website. i like to keep it that way. if you care to figure out things about my app, unfortunately you will either have to ask me directly (in which case it is totally appropriate for me to give vague answers, much like...real life...) or wade through my hundreds of pointless posts.

4) i love a good internet fight. they are so serious.

5) i have a short attn span

6)

as i recall it depression leads to anger...

wait why are there mannequins in the hospital!!???

ohhhh right resusci annie 😛

Well, you see...sarcasm gets easily lost without body language and voice tone... If that was the intention, I totally missed it...😀

true that. where you from homie?

Is anyone else starting to get bummed about not having any interviews? I guess its still kinda early, but I'm super anxious about it. :scared:

My first rejection!!!!!!!!!!! wooo.

Boston U.

Oh, and my stats, so I don't offend anyone 🙂:

3.8/36

Complete 7/13

So apparently the first time I submitted baylor it didn't work. So in a rush today I resubmitted. But I forgot to check if everything was still saved AND I realized right after I pushed the button that I could have fixed something on my essay which I didn't check anyway. I feel so dumb right now.

Also, the most apt metaphor for this admissions process is dating.

I actually dreamed last night that I got an email from Pitt inviting me to interview. I didn't even apply there. And then I get rejected from BU in reality. haha..kind of hilarious.

Maybe that's your subconscious telling you to apply to pitt? And wtf on the bu rejection!

Oookkkk, now I am concerned. You see, I am interested about the whole medical application process, about where we all stand, about which schools are giving interviews or not, about which schools are sending secondaries or not.... That helps me know what to expect and contrary to what you have said of me, I have shared here and in multiple threads what is going on with my application, which unfortunately is not much because my LORs have not been sent out yet.

Now, I respect everyone's needs to talk about their daily lives with a bunch of anonymous internet ghosts and I have never criticized anyone for doing that, no matter how trivial and superficial I have thought it was. But, I don't have that need, and I do not know why you had to go out of your way and "sum up" the troops to harass me.

That is the point. I am here because this is SDN, not facebook, nor myspace nor another social network.

But, let's put it behind us and move on.

I don't have this need either. The difference is that I don't whine about it.

The whole line of reasoning in your post is nonsense, it would be like me saying:

Brain Buff,

You don't see me criticizing you about how much of a dork you are. I just sit and watch how much of a nerd you are and stay quiet. I never comment on the stupidity of your posts, no matter how poorly thought out they were.

Listen, I do not have anything against you either, but this is not high school where you tell others not to sit at your lunch table. If I do not want to join in the trivial conversation I do not have to, and if i ask a question that everyone sitting at the table does not feel comfortable answering, a polite "...i want to keep my privacy.." is enough. But in either case, I am sitting in this table, LMAO.

BTW, I really find that talking trivia is not very "contributing" either, so you should stop saying that.

The easiest way to "not join" a conversation is to not post or whine about it.

Well, thank you for clarifying this. Apparently, I missed the section where the purpose and intention of this thread was defined by some. I assumed that it was a thread for anyone who was going to be part of the "Class of 2015", to talk or ask about whatever, and I guess by assuming I really made an ass of myself.

The purpose of the thread is defined by those who use it. You can figure it out by reviewing some of the 18,000+ previous posts.

You sound like a nerd. Some people remove profiles. Get over it.

People.com has a article out regarding lil josie duggar (the 19th wee one of the Duggar clan that arrived a wee bit early). Anyway, they say that preeclampsia is a rare condition in pregnant ladies. Dude. I thought preeclampsia was the most common complication during pregnancy. huh.

I got my ass handed to me at work last night. literally. didnt sit, drink/eat, or pee for the last 12 1/2 hours. I got owned. And Im pretty sure the attending was swearing at me in persian (he's still super cute though so I'll let it fly...)

Oh. and i completely fried my stomach after tanning for 11 minutes in a bed with 4 burnt out bulbs. doubleyouteaeff.

You sound like a nerd.
You sound, well, just as immature.

Perhaps HE could move on if we ALL moved on?

or quote it over and over and over and over again. like the song that never ends.

why is SDN soooo boggggggggggggggy? buy a new server already! 🙄

Well, most pregnancies go off without a hitch. Just because it's one of the more common complications doesn't mean it still isn't rare, ya know? That said, it's also a LOT more common to develop pre-e in your last two months or so. Josie was born at 25 weeks. Maybe they just mean it's rare to develop pre-e severe enough to warrant a premature delivery that early, which it is.

They need to stop having kids. She has had like 4 C-sections. Yes, she's had several VBACs in there, too, but every one increases her chances of a rupture or a placental abnormality (which scare the bejesus out of me, personally :scared:) that could potentially kill her. They need to focus on the kids they have and how much they need their mom. *Steps down off soapbox*

nobody else thinks lambchop is a lil creepy?

I was more into fraggle rock. and david the gnome.

if she loved her living kids enough, she'd actually do this.
