Yes! I was thinking it was some kind of -ite.

marmite = british.
vegemite = australian.

they had those available in addition to jams and butters at breakfast / tea and i was always like...why on EARTH would you choose that poison over jam???

i'd rather eat my carbs plain than douse them in gasoline.

I had nutella once. It was pretty good.

What's that stuff made of yeast? I think it's English?

Hazelnut with a hint of cocoa goodness.

The yeast stuff is Vegemite, and Australian, I think!

LOL DANG. I am behind. Here's a gif of an awesome cat.

You know, we're an Olympic class. We'll be starting during the London games and be done by the Rio games.

I'm watching The Wire on HBO go. I don't know if Portlandia is online? Probably somewhere.

I've only watched one episode of The Wire. It's ok. People always say omgz best show ever made so I wanted to give it a try. That, and it's set in a very crappy/scary part of Baltimore 😀

Just starting? I swear, everyone i know is just starting to get into this show, after it ended. Probably would've lasted longer if everyone got into it when it aired 🙁

I always heard the same thing. After watching it I would have to say that it was one of the most consistently good shows I have watched. There were almost no times that it felt like a wasted hour.

I'll stick with it! It's pretty good, and I imagine it gets better. I'm on episode 4 now...

Am I the only one who shops at Walmart? Meijer, Kroger, and giant eagle have their gas points or whatever but everything is soo expensive.... I can't justify not going to Wally world for my big grocery runs.

the only store i recognize from that list was Walmart. Don't they have Albertsons and Safeways in the midwest?

Nope. I go to Trader Joe's, and I never do big grocery runs. One bag of baby spinach at a time, baby.

I do. I also shop at Target, Whole Foods, and Publix. We don't have Kroger or those other things here.

When I was still in school for undergrad, I shopped at Winn-Dixie, Wal-Mart, Target, and Whole Foods

Now that I'm back home, I shop at Kroger's, HEB, Wal-Mart, and Target

Never heard of Publix or Meijer

we are showing our diversity here. 👍
safeway = dominicks in the midwest.
kroger = ralph's on the west coast.
supervalu = albertsons (west coast) = jewel (midwest)
these are all public.

publix is regional southeast, native to florida, meijer is also regional (midwest) & trader joe's is its own thing. they're privately owned.

publix is like a vons or albertsons. or ralphs or stater bros. they still have those in southern california, no? but publix is native to the other sunny state on the other side of the country.

i remember when there was lucky's, but it got replaced by albertsons. oh, change.

For the record, in my area, we also have Stop and Shop, Shaw's (AWFUL), and Hannaford. I just refuse to go to them.

My favorite grocery store in the Boston Metro area is Russo's, which has the best produce and cheese and meat and, well, everything. Their yellow heirloom tomatoes are AMAZING.

I shopped at a Hannaford's for the first time when I was in NH for my Dartmouth interview. I shopped at a grocery store called Harris Teeter in NC (I think most of their stores are in NC). The first time I went into one, I didn't really make note of the name, as my student host had brought me there. When the cashier was ringing up my stuff, she asked, "Do you have you Harris Teeter card?" And I was like, "Excuse me?" She's like, "Your Harris Teeter card." I was still like 😕. My host said, "Cinclus, that's the name of the store." lol

MegMurry, your SDN avatar reminds me of a story I heard from a med student way back during interview season.

One of her friends from a different school was trying to measure a patient's blood pressure. She couldn't figure out why she couldn't get a reading from the blood pressure cuff.

Another med student on the same rotation told her, "Dear...you have to squeeze the bulb to pump the cuff." :smack:

omg, I want the galaxy note. so. bad.

I have the infuse, and it's big, but the note... It has another inch on the width of my infuse, I think.

I love big phones. Better reading, better image viewing, better TV show watching... I could never use an iphone unless they made the screen drastically larger without making it an Ipad.

btw, have you guys seen the medical student coats with the ipad pockets on the inside?

I think they're really, really dumb but if it's your thing.... now you know.
