Other than that I can pronounce Japanese pretty well from watching Japanese language programming.

I think Mandarin is a bit easier to pronounce than Cantonese. If you're going to HK, you shouldn't have a problem getting around in just English. Most of their signs and menus are in English. I do believe their transportation card is called an Octopus Card hehe

Octopus Card is awesome!

I was in HK a couple of months ago. You can use your card to buy stuff from corner stores and stuff as well.

I just came to this thread to complain about it and I see you guys beat me to it.. makes it all so real.

The fact that my graduation is on Saturday doesn't make it as real as clicking on a UNC thread and realizing its the new thread.

Man, I cant even go to the class threads for my school and contribute anything meaningful.... I guess being two years out makes a world of difference, especially with our curriculum change.

I'm pretty impressed you managed to even go one year. I think the last thing I want to do after as stressful as this year was is hang out in school-specific application threads once I'm already in med school (although I'm sure I'll do it anyway).

Too bad your school didn't love me nearly as much +pity+.

SDN has been very helpful to me and I do feel very lucky that I'll be in medical school next year. Sometimes after as much stress as the last fifteen months have been (my school has an epic-length process for getting a committee letter) and with it still not over yet the idea of reading posts from people who are just starting and still have it all ahead of them is pretty unappealing.

dawww, keep the faith. this process is long and frustrating. lol, I actually compare it to acting a lot. i can't imagine how many auditions people go on before they make their "big break". you have to have the ego/confidence that you will crack through and that this career is meant for you, etc. it's not fair all the time, but no process is.

all you can do is try to remain gracious and keep trying.

and of course, we are STILL ROOTING FOR YOU :luck::xf:

congratulations!

on my last day of finals EVER of undergrad, I started drinking at 8 am, drinking a shot's worth every half hour. this went until about 2 in the afternoon.

it was a glorious day.
