Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Then you should consider applying to my school list 😉 All of it! But I really hope KU works out for you.

I said, "it's not a problem, I am a hopeless romantic"

I CAN'T WAIT FOR MEDICAL SCHOOL! AAAAAHHHH!

and how are you still single? 😕

Mmmm la patisserie!!!

My mom is hardcore french, she makes balling creme caramele, creme brulee, eclairs.

But as a french speaker... I hate how when they subtitle stuff, it's so obviously not what they're saying. Translating between languages loses a lot of the meaning behind the word.

This is going to sound silly, but I love the movie French Kiss and would loooove to go visit France. It's so beautiful.

Agreed. Can't we all just go to the same med school? I want to have fun wine parties!

Ooh yes! My friends and I used to do wine and cheese parties. We did franzia or Charles Shaw but I suppose as med students we could be just a bit classier. 😉

Paris is an amazing city, I loved it so much. Especially around Christmas time.

I'm pretty good at DDR 🙂

I've never played. Looks like fun though.

I make cookies and muffins pretty frequently, but my favorite is probably pie.

mmmmm pie.

I recently broke up with my girlfriend. It was a mutual break up. She was the love of my life (or so I think until this point). But she's going to school in Australia (hence my earlier Aus reference). Literally a world apart. With me starting medical school potentially, and her doing grad school down there. We just decided it would be better. However, I'm hurting hard. Part of the reason I think I got sick is cuz I took an emotional blow.

My mom is not a doctor... but trained at the Sorbonne. She's a pastry chef and a finance guru.

Personally the sorbonne is much cooler than medical school if you ask me. I love sugar, and I love dessert. Chocolate mousse... mmm.

If I wasn't going to be a doctor, I would definitely go to pastry school.

Oh, I forgot cupcakes! I don't know if cupcakes really deserve their popularity (pie is way better), I still love decorating cupcakes 🙂

That would be so fun. I did that every now and then in Tucson. I'd invite friends over and have them all bring a bottle and we would have wine/beer tasting parties and smoke cigars. It was fun

oooo, I bet!

Sometimes, I wonder why my parents came over from Europe. I love it so much there. But, the truth is we have a different lifestyle here.

We have things that they couldn't imagine. The land of opportunity my friends. Here it is. The world is ours for the taking!

aww, I'm sorry to hear that. 😍 Hugs.

Breakups are hard, even when they are mutual. I'm here for you love.

Cupcakes are awesome! Pie is UNREAL. Let's get serious, a really good home made apple pie... hard to find.

Now BWSTW... this is my mom's on the side hobby, I think it's called needlepoint?

I took a trip to England and France, and it was awesome. The food, the culture, it's just so different (and a lot better) then over here. But, I'm an American at heart. When I'm a rich doctor 🙂laugh🙂 I can always do some travelling.

Apple pie is my favorite to make 🙂 That and strawberry rhubarb. Mmmm I loooooove a flaky pastry crust 😍

You keep talking about baking, and it just highlights my own mediocre baking skills.

Here's roughly what happened the last time I tried to make cookies:

I don't know, I mean I love living in America (especially California 😎 ) but there is such a more laid back lifestyle over in Europe. They don't have to worry about MCATs, primaries, secondaries, and all the stress that comes with having to apply with med school. Along with not worrying about lots of other things too. Sure, we may so much more here in the states, but they seem somewhat happier imo. I don't know, of course this is mostly based off of my interactions with Spanish people since I spent most of my time in Europe in Spain.

It has a really classic architectural style ... but man, my American driving skills would not translate well to those streets.

I don't know about me being rich. However, I want to make enough money to be able to send my kids to really good schools, and to take 2 really lavish family vacations a year.

I also would like to drive an Audi, nothing crazy. Just an A4. They're wonderfully reliable, and great on gas.

I'd like to be able to send my parents on a few vacations, which wouldn't even start to repay them for everything they have done for me.

Oh and, I also want a pool.

The audi and the pool. The only two selfish things on the list. I'm allowed, right?

I made gingerbread cookies for Christmas a while back when I was an RA. Made the dough from scratch and everything. They tasted soooo good.

I think people from one of the nordic countries are consistently deemed "happiest" based on surveys and such. Americans were pretty low on the list...

I very much endorse and resemble the European lifestyle. My number one pet peeve is when people rush a meal, or are texting during a meal.

A meal should take 2 hours. You should unwind, drink wine. Kick back and enjoy the food slowly, savoring every decadent bite. Each crispy flake of the phyllo pastry melting in your mouth as you laugh at a joke that your friend is making about his boss.

///I sound like a re-****. Mi desculpa.

Europeans cannot drive, at all. I was so scared when walking across busy streets, they don't believe that pedestrians having the right of way.

Yeah, I don't want to be filthy rich. I would really like to go on vacation with my parents, or send them on a vacation. They definitely deserve that and more.

I drive like a European on crack. I've gotten out of 3 speeding tickets in the last 6 months. I've never had a moving violation. But, I drive damn efficiently.

Pick one. The rest goes to Africa.

Forget Africa!

Yes, it looks like cross-stitch. Very pretty. My mom does that too, and my grandma embroiders by hand.

I completely agree. Eating meals in Spain was like the greatest thing ever, one because Spanish food is the greatest food on the planet, and secondly, because meals there were an event. We talked, laughed, drank, and ate, aww such good times.

I need to go back, like now.

You're making me hungry! I love phyllo 😍 Baklava, anyone? Ooh, and spanakopita.

This sounds so wonderful 😍

My mom's getting a Jaguar, she's been so awesome to me during this whole process that she totally deserves her dream car.

I love talking about food. The only reason why I have cable is for the Food Network.

Oh... and I also want to write a novel.

Might I be the next Robin Cook?

Wow, we have a lot in common lol. I wrote a lot in high school and considered being a writer at one point.

I'm always thinking dirty. I think the people in the FB chat can attest to that.

 very true

Awww, how sweet.

they do some neat things on there!

Shes so awesome you will buy her a car that has a 5 year life span?

My mom has her weird preferences, ones that she will never deter from. I've been trying to get her to stop drinking bud light and have actual beer, she swears by the stuff.

I have a love/hate relationship with Food Network. Mostly hate.

My first problem is Rachel effing Ray. Her raspy, chain-smoking voice makes small children cry out in fear. It's particularly bad when she yells, "Yummo!" or shortens "extra-virgin olive oil" to the obnoxious "evoo."

My second problem is bimbo alcoholic Sandra Lee. Her "tablescapes" that she prepares for every occasion are garish and assault my retinas. Not only are they awful, but each one must cost upwards of $100, which is ridiculous considering she hosts a show about inexpensive cooking. If you have not seen her "kwanzaa cake," youtube it. Youtube it right now.

I actually do like Paula Deen and Bobby Flay, so there is some reprieve.

Edit: I'm going to post the video here, because this cake is spectacularly awful.
