Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hardly ever use my iPad now.. I guess with being addicted to my itouch.. then spending 6 months on iPad was enough of an Apple for me. Once you go droid... Apple is void? Anyways, I love my Epic 4G, but I'm past the stage where I spent a lot of time on my gadget. Now it's my old lady (laptop) and I, always. Forever. lol.

Lots of Apple fanboys (and girls) in here.

Don't you dare call me an Apple fangirl. 😡 I love my iPhone, and I'd be stoked to own an iPad. But I'm certainly not one of those people who jerks off to pictures of Steve Jobs in his black turtleneck. I think Apple laptops are ridiculously overpriced for the specs they offer. I got a ThinkPad for $650 with a fast processor and plenty of RAM, along with a two-year unlimited warranty (that covers accidental damage). If I got the same computer in a shiny white case with an Apple logo on it, I probs would have paid at least two or three times as much. Apple makes some great and user-friendly products, but they aren't infallible.

I previously posted about us being worried that we wouldn't make 25,000 posts while I was gone next week.

I retract that statement. We made 1200 something posts in the last 24 hours. We are amazing.

I say our 2 week goal be 30,000. Should be totally doable.

No one's around for the late night SDN show?

(I really need a benzodiazepine to get some freaking sleep)

Pop a couple Benadryl, that's what I do.

We had a patient tonight who went crazy after getting some Ativan. And then the attending was all, "I was afraid that might happen. If you want him to get to sleep, try pushing some Haldol." Um, really??

Righttttt... cuz typical antipsychotics are great for sleep.

I'm not a doctor, but I live with one... and my family is medically oriented. So I got the low down on a few things... and man... I just wonder how some doctors are allowed to practice medicine. Yeah you have an MD... but not one iota of common sense.

I just think it's all too easy to get into the rut of prescribing medications to fix the side effects of other medications.

The guy WAS an attending, and the patient has been in and out of this hospital for a while, so the doc probably just knew something I didn't. But hearing that order definitely made me go 😕

Having MD after your name... when you're an attending... doesn't make it OK.

Hahah

Yeah, true story. Anyway, the guy was given the Ativan antidote (can't remember the name, starts with an F...too lazy to google it) right when I was leaving, so I don't know what happened after that.

Sooo, CB. Any exciting plans in your future? 😀

Ooh, lucky you! 😀 Hope you have an awesome time. I've never been to either country. I'd love, love, love to visit Israel though. Anywhere in the Middle East or North Africa.

Do you have any special plans TMS?

Nope! Right now I can't afford fun, lol. I have $12 in my bank account, and anyway I lost my debit card on Friday night. Can't get a new one til this Friday. Good thing I get paid this week.

So what do you plan to do in France and Israel?

I'm going to be visiting my family in Paris and Cannes. Then in Israel I am going to be hanging out in Tel Aviv and Eilat with my friends from college.

I've been to Israel many a times before, but I have always wanted to go to the aquarium in Eilat... I have never made time for it. This is one thing I am determined to do this time.

Fishes! 😍

I'm jealous of your world travel. I've been out of the country...three times (one was Toronto and one was Cancun, both of which barely even count). Still, that's more than a lot of people, so I ain't complaining. 😀 I got lots of life ahead of me to travel.

Travel is one thing I am extremely fortunate to have partaken in!

PS. I love Toronto, I used to live there. It was Montreal to Toronto... then Detroit. Downgrade eh?

Toronto was great. 🙂 I loved Tim Horton's...even though I don't understand why they insist on calling donut holes "timbits" like they didn't exist before Tim Horton's? I was only 17 when I went so I couldn't go clubbing, but I did at one point walk through the clubbing district and DAMN I would love to go out in that city.

Dude, Detroit is a downgrade from pretty much any city in the world. Only because of the Red Wings, though. Otherwise it's okay.

Hahahah let's just say... Toronto is amazing. I am assuming you're speaking of Yorkville?

Hmmm, I don't know. Probably. You'd know better than me! 🙂 I had a great time there.

So, what's your favorite place you've ever visited/lived?

Um, both! Either! I don't know. You can list multiple places. I like living vicariously through other peoples' fun experiences. 😀

In Europe... to visit: Athens, Amsterdam, Paris

In Europe to live... hands down 100% Madrid

In North America... to visit: Chicago, NYC

In North America... to live: 100% Montreal. Amazing amazing amazing city.

I've always wanted to go to Montreal. 🙂 I'd love to visit any of those cities. So far the only one I've been to is Chi-town. Which I fell in love with.

Yesssss! Unfortunately my dream school (McGill) is in Montreal, and I lost my provincial residency by moving to Michigan. How not cool right?

That is too bad. 🙁 I know how hard it is for a non-Canadian resident to get into med schools there. Hell it's hard enough for Canadian residents themselves. We have it pretty good here, by comparison.

My GPA would keep me out of every Canadian school 🙁

But that's OK. I like America better.

Michigan residency is not bad... but it's not Texas residency.

Then you'd have to live in Texas though. Michigan residency is pretty good.

Colorado residency is awesome because it means I'm an IS applicant to Colorado 😀 but it's crappy in that there's only one state school and they accept a decent number OOS. It's tough to get into as an IS applicant. Not Cali tough, but certainly not easy.

Cali is just ridiculous. Being pre-med in Cali is just a death sentence.
