Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Good luck to everyone on finals!

This year, I didn't have any thanks to the grad degree 🙂 Was done April 21st! 😀

Okay please dont kill me....

I didn't have to take any finals either, but that's because I graduated in 2010 😀

So not cool, to the both of you. Finished two finals today, have two more next week and it will be PEACE OUT JUNIOR YEAR!

Damn, this year was so much more intense than I expected...good thing my schedule next year will consist primarily of Partying 400 (upper level, passed the proficiency test for the general class)

We will find out soon 😉. IDK if the additional points were enough to put me up to the next level, so it might not matter.

Grade grubbing has historically worked against me many times before, especially since the first time it happened I didn't even ask for it and it dropped my biochemistry grade down. Only worked to my favor once in my physio lab ( a notoriously difficult lab at my school).

Ooh, I hear that class has a 10 shot prerequisite, good job getting in 👍

Me too.

Went to an east coast school --> Orgo

Twins! Sadly.

Where have you been?

+1

Another +1

This.

Agreed! [deleted smiley]

On a food related note:

Mmmm....home-made chili......Om nom nom.

That is all.
Bookfreak, I now inaugurate you as '16's official epic multi-quoter!
But, I have been lurking like a sly ninja! :ninja:
Just been getting my ass kicked by ochem and MCAT!

High five. I'm in the same boat....conformation.

Finally done with these damn official pre-reqs!

I hear you, must be infuriating. Damn professor had our final weighted to 1/3 of our overall grade. We'll see tomorrow if I held onto the A or not.
First I , then :scared:

I just came back from grade-grubbing . I found multiple mistakes. Turns out highly accomplished organic chemists don't enjoy being corrected by an undergrad. Who knew? Although TAs probably graded it, so it's not as bad.
Let us know how grade-grubbing worked out! for me, personally, I have always failed -_- my biggest downfall....fill. in. the. effing. blanks! damn, why do they make it so damn ambiguous that you could even fit "yo mama" in the blank?!

+1, and I wanna take that class!😍

AMCAS!

Edit: False alarm. Opens at 11am. :luck:
Damn you, vandy! I almost had a heart attack. Probably because it's still the 4th here in CA.

i think i'm burning out
Me too. I'm taking a EK VR test, painting my nails powder blue, and drinking a sprite. I see something wrong with this pic.
But, seriously, relax and take a break! and breathe!
Busy studying MCAT Bio (not really needed more like passage overview so I don't get tricked by sneaky MCAT questions) so no epic quotes, just commenting on what I've missed

1. Got lots to do AMCAS wise, transcript requests (from 4 schools :scared: ), PS writing (haven't even started) LOR requesting (trying to find a second science prof that knows me 🙁 ) and of course MCAT prep (7 weeks and counting)

2. Agree with the O-chem = west coast thing which also makes it the definitive version of the term since we set the trends for everything obviously. 😎

3. Also a requisite foody here, hoping to join you guys for a bite (and a beer, got to satisfy the beery? in me too) on the interview trail. 🙂
1. Samesies, except for LOR writters.
2. West coast, is the best coast! Whenever a west coast/east coast debate comes up, I proceed to quote California Gurls by Katy Perry <3
3. I second this motion! a beer is definitely a must...along with food!

Also, heard this today, wanted to share with my '16 peeps: May the "fourth" be with you! 😎

Cannot believe the cycle is going to start any moment. After all this prep, we all deserve a seat at our dream school. Hopefully we can all be with each other to provide support and camaraderie, but above all, comic relief. Good luck everyone!

EDIT: I have gone back to edit this multiple times. Us '16ers are very generous with the smileys!

Blech....celebrated Cuatro de Mayo last night...

So many margaritas never seemed like such a bad idea until this morning....

hope i got an A in endocrinology, reallllly on the line...bout to nail this shakespeare exam, brb.

AMCAS is open! :luck: which browser are you guys using on a mac? 😳

is it live?

Edit: damn you. 😉

Sorry man 🙂. It's up now, I promise. 😎

Berries: epic multi-quote. I think I'm dizzy. The grade-grubbing did not work actually. I finished with a high B (like 8% above average). Oh well. I also had fill in the blank exams like that for neurobiology. It would ask us to describe an experiment and what it showed, and then the scientist's name. I could never remember because they were always these crazy Russian-sounding names with way too many consonants . Ended up with a solid 85 since I always missed 2 or so names (worth 4 points each).

Good luck everyone!!

AMCAS is open! :luck: which browser are you guys using on a mac? 😳

Firefox 3.0. None of the old IE's are even compatible with Mac OS X. And I HATE Firefox. The small agonies of this process begin on day 1.😡

Let the games begin...

Good luck to everyone. 😀

For the Mac, I am using Firefox.

This. Safari won't work, IE's look freaking hideous, and Firefox is my last option. I used to use Firefox before, so it isn't a deal-breaker.

Derp, stupid question. If you're a citizen, do you also check legal resident... or is it implied?

Derp, stupid question. If you're a citizen, do you also check legal resident... or is it implied?

I haven't checked it yet, but from other online applications, if there's a US citizen box and you happen to be that, that's all you check.

And the only stupid question is an unasked one (at least, that's my philosophy) 🙂

Hello Everyone!!

Just wanted to say hi! I finished my undergrad last year, and now I'm about to finish the first half of my masters!!! Time flies!! And now it's also time to begin that AMCAS!!! Already started to fill it out.. had to download an older version of Firefox for Mac.. 3.6 (3.6.0) worked just fine!!
Good luck to us all!! And congrats to the ones who are graduating soon!!

I was confused by this too, since it was asked as a separate question right after the citizenship one.

I was so afraid that I'd have to request a transcript from the time I studied abroad in Span. Luckily, it wasn't one of the programs that required one. Too bad my grades weren't transferred though, I could have used those extra As 😀 . It is something I can add to my ECs though so that's a plus 👍

Guess I have to work on that personal statement now though, 😛

oh and :luck: everyone !

Yes. The Relief:Grade Panic ratio is like, 99:1... for now. I'm sure more panic will set in later. And yes, I'm a fellow Trojan! Fight on! Did you take o chem with Hogen-Esch? Ugh.
Nah, believe or not, I've been in Florida for the last three years after my current employer (one of the biggest financial institutions) relocated me to here from Los Angeles... I studied my masters in Computer Science after my bachelors in Computer Engineering at USC. I'm on my way completing my second-bacc on Biomedical Sciences. Still miss Woodland Hills... home sweet home.

Firefox 4.0.1 doesn't work for AMCAS. Using IE...

holy crap, I'm going to have to list each course I've taken individually!!! I have like over 200 units from 4 different schools. Wish I could just send in my transcripts and have it done that way :bang:

dudeeee YA BOI is riding the B+/A- line in two classes, I really hope those professors show some mercy.

MCAT related: what are the best AAMC score predictors ( I know this question has been beat to death) looking to take one next week and decide whether to push back or not.

If I'm not mistaken, AAMC 7-10 are the best predictors. People always save those for last. Don't know if AAMC 11 has been added to the mix.

As someone said, the general consensus is that the most recent are the best predictors. I thought that the MCAT I took last month was pretty close to 11, but still a few noticeable differences. I thought 10 was pretty easy though, and 11 was harder . Of course, I get my scores back in 12 days so IDK what's what yet.

Yack!.. After entering a letter of evaluation, you are not allowed to edit its details... but why?

Congrats Frazier!
Totally effed up my first exam, so I'm kissing an A goodbye.

Y'all are already filling it out!
From you guys, I was informed at 8am that apps are open.
Certainly wasn't thinking about ochem in ochem.
I haven't started my app yet (yay? looks like a pain in the ass) but will crack it open when I'm done with ochem lab at 6.
Expect an epic rant or multi quote soon!
In other news, missed a 10 in verbal by 5 points. I picked the wrong answer in exact 5 questions. Is this REALLY my luck?

EDIT: I really wanted top but Frazier beat me to it. 🙁

Is it required to print out those bar-coded "evaluation letter request form"s at AMCAS?

I'm using Interfolio, and have seen that it has a field where you write your AMCAS ID at your Interfolio account. When creating a distribution for AMCAS, it asks you if you'd like to include it in the electronic distribution to AMCAS. Is that enough? Do I have to still print out the bar-coded forms? (actually, my letter writers have already sent their letters to Interfolio, thus it's gonna be double-dipping with to request them to resend on the bar-coded request form.)

Any ideas/experiences?

YNK Knows what's up.
but to be more festive, I'll take a margarita! Bring on the tequila.

I can't wait to see this thread in a few hours...

do not disappoint!

man, transcripts are a pain in the ASS!

In other news, I held onto my A in Ochem2. Beers on me tonight, ladies and gents.

Congrats!!! Really really hope I did the same! A beer sounds fantastic...I have one last paper to finish and then I am celebrating cinco de mayo, goodbye junior year, and hello application season! Make that a few beers.:hardy:

You guys are so cool; 2016 love!

Agreed. This thread makes me happy.

It was half off margarita night at this mexican bar here yesterday....therefore i got 4 margaritas for 5 bucks. Best. Deal. Ever.

Just requested transcripts as well. Had to wait in a line of neurotic premeds comparing their applications in front of me. Ridonkulous.

Haha that is precisely why I'm going to worry about transcripts after my finals are done tomorrow.

Bout to pop out the Patron to celebrate.
