Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did clinical research on myself once. Does that count? When I broke my leg, I would take differing amounts of codeine and see how much of my body weight I could support on the bathroom scale

🤣

I would have failed at that study. Last time I took codeine, I kept puking and got so dizzy I almost fainted. Figures I would have some sort of aversion to pain killers 🙁 Though, MORPHINE on the other hand....

Yup! I'm obsessed with food trucks. I find that their food goes above and beyond any restaurants, since they're so small. There's a few in Ohio but I bet there's a ton in Chicago!

Hey now! I go to school in Ohio 🙁 Well I can't really be upset, I have the benefit of Illinois schools and semi-Ohio schools haha.

The food truck culture was huuuuuuuge in the Bay Area. I'm sure there are, but I guess I don't hear about it as often. And I usually try to eat at home in Chicago to save moniesss.

Actually the thought of food right now is not appealing. I had some of my friend's guinness espresso shake and a huuuge breakfast at Rudy's. All the hash brown goodness is sitting like a brick in my tummy. 🙁

Same. I iz a broke kollege stewdent.

I haven't heard of many in Chicago, will let you know when I do 🙂

Do tell.

Addict?

They gave it to me when I went to the ER for severe abdominal pain (note: everyone in the ER hates abdominal pain). Oh my gosh it relaxed the stabbing pain almost instantaneously.....*Ahem* but no, no addiction. That was the only time I ever had it 😏

Please don't pull the string on that one.

so much has happened while I'm trying to fix my computer from the same infection that it had a week ago. What I miss?

So much good stuff to reply to! 😀

Haha sorry. My family is from Dayton. There are some great things about Ohio, but for the most part it's kind of a craphole.

That sounds dangerous. The best kind of clinical trial.

Research is boring.

Clinical experience is boring.

You have to have the right kind of clinical experience. And the right kind of patients. And be working with the right kind of people. But you're right, research is definitely boring.

Nope. Added bonus 😉

Well lucky you. 😀

🤣

Wow. 😱 Codeine doesn't do much for me. I took a couple Vicodin after getting my wisdom teeth out and they didn't do anything. I wasn't sleepy, and they didn't help the pain. I just took ibuprofen instead.

True story. All narcotics do. Doctors normally prescribe laxatives and stool softeners along with narcotic painkillers. I know this because of all the post-op patients who tell me about their bowel movements, and when I have to take them to the bathroom all the time so they can try to poop.

hanging out with hopkins MS1's is awesome but seriously deflating, one of my friends I made up here is a cool dude and we've been out to the bars a few times ( aka not a book worm, etc.) Anyways I asked about his MCAT and he said he got a 39, studied like 7 days. and all studying encompassed was taking 4 AAMC's. WTF?!!?! ridiculous.

Why did I click that.

More importantly, why did I read that.

Because one day you might have a speculum inside a patient while they're cutting it close to their time of the month and you might just see some blood all up in there.

PLEASE SHIP ME SOME CRABCAKES. K THNX 😍

I'll say "Ew gross" and hand her off to the nurse.

Just kidding.

I'm pretty sure that was a question that didn't need answering

Just got back from the zoo. Not much different than it was ten years ago- still smells like **** but is undeniably a good time, especially with my little niece.

Steve we all have different things to offer. Your work experience will definitely be a plus. It's not like we all have to check off some giant master list of activities. My only clinical experience is a one day each year volunteering event at the children's hospital (unless you count shadowing). It was really fun though 👍.

Yea you're right. Thanks, man. It's the SDN curse- always thinking there's more you could have done :\ .

Planning my retake, so I thought I would get advice from my friends on here--
I was thinking of studying the content with my EK materials since they are concise. How does everyone feel about purely EK? I don't think I have time for PR :/
as for practice tests, I did all Kaplan and official exams. I was thibkin of getting the BR exams. I'm also taking exam donations from anyone completely done with the MCAT 🙂

Any other words of advice appreciate to kick start my studying 🙁

I hear EK is really good for retakes, so that sounds like a solid plan. As for FLs, BRs would be cool, and maybe look into the TPRs. If you were averaging a 33 on the AAMCs, honestly there are two things that went wrong:

1) Your mental game

and

2) Fluke topics that get ya

Work on both of those and you will guarantee yourself your AAMC average. :luck::luck::luck:

I could have gotten a 4.0 if I had gone to class.

But I didn't.

I could have gotten a 45 if I had my lucky rabbit's foot with me on test day.

But I didn't.

I could have found a cure for cancer instead of watching TV.

But I didn't.

I could have finished my app by now instead of spamming this thread.

But I didn't.

Oh what could have been :meanie:

You need an SDN intervention. I'm beginning to worry about you.

meh. if you're constantly realizing your potential, you have to acknowledge that any failures are a result of ability and not of desire. as long as i don't try, i can assume i'm great at everything

For once I cannot find the appropriate It's Always Sunny Clip for this situation 🙁. Whatyousay, Google "The Gang Gives Frank An Intervention".

What do you mean an intervention. I'M FINE GUYS. I'M NOT NERVOUS. YOU MAD BRO?

But really, I'm making progress! 😀
(just really really slow)

Whatyousay, SIT DOWN and FINISH YOUR APP. For the love of...whatever god/deity/videogame you believe in.:laugh:

... .and why does my name get anti-caps? am i that worthless?

Because SDN won't let you put an entire post in all caps, and that was the thing that least needed to be emphasized.

It was only a little bit because you're worthless. 😀

Sounds like a song.... a specific song about why certain things didn't happen.

One of the major signs of addiction: denial. 🙂

No it's not!

I think better when I'm doing handstands, which is incompatible with operating a computer.

yeah, dude, SIT DOWN AND FINISH. you're pathetic, really...

See above.

stop hatin, bro. let's not draw attention away from whatyousay. HE'S TOTALLY SLACKIN

I'M TOTALLY SLACKING BRO.

 Yea I agree. Bhaus, whatyousay, get that thing in by the end of tomorrow. 👍

My PS is a labor of love.

And like labor, it takes a long time to finish.
