I think a lot of people (especially those who haven't hit 3rd year yet) say they are all for 80+ hours a week without actually having done it themselves. My guess is many of these people realize how much it sucks once they're forced to do it in the clinics.

yeah, i'm saving up all my old running sneaks for such things.

i'm trashing my lab shoes at the end of my stay here - they make my feet super smelly. though that comes more from me wearing them without socks than the materials i work with 😳

yarp. as a pseudo non-trad, i had to work 80+ hour weeks. I didn't mind it because it was only occasionally, but if that was my schedule every week for the rest of my life, i would hate myself, monies or no monies.

I had to do 70+ almost every week for my entire off year (minus vacation time and interviews!). It's going to be a lot different from third year, because even after working all those hours I came home and played COD for a couple hours. Now I'll have to come home and study my ass off. :\

It's not so bad if you love what you're doing. I tend to be a person of few focuses, anyway. I could seriously be happy with just running/lifting every other day, working, and maybe seeing my family maybe at night. But I do need vacations to recharge every couple months.

I don't care about money either way. That all goes to my spouse, anyway, right? 😉
 
i just found out a restaurant mentioned me publicly! (and no it wasn't for cleaning them out of food 😳)

yeah, i think that working + studying is the absolute worst. I went back and started studying for the MCAT when I decided I didn't want to stay on the career track I was on.... working a full time job completely unrelated to science while refreshing my memory on all the basic chem/phys/bio fun was not a joyous experience. I don't know how some moms go back to school while pulling full time jobs and caring for their children. I just don't.

I agree - enjoying your work makes the hours much more tolerable. And vacations are essential.

haha your mindset about $$ is excellent for your future spouse. she will be a lucky lady indeed. unless you go into primary care in a rural area, have crazy loans and want 10 babies :meanie:

for your shoes, you might want to try stuffing them with newspaper or a sock with baking soda in it to remove odors. they might be salvageable.

Best feeling in the world. I hardly got 15 minutes to eat lunch most days before resignation. After? 3 hour mega-lunches. What were they going to go? Fire me?????

When I use to work on commission, I would take 1+ hour long lunches. On the days where business was really good, those could easily balloon to 90min-2 hours long. I miss those days sometimes. Partly for the long lunch breaks, but mostly for the money. 😀

I think the ones in Texas are all near the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I really want to try their "protein style" burger, so I'll have to check them out when I go road trippin' to explore Dallas.

I'd be down as well. I'm a Cali Kid and a bona fide In N' Out eater. I could be a useful asset on said trip. If you've had it before, you'll know why. 😎

EDIT: I had In n' Out with out-of-towners before. Apparently, they got quite confused by the ordering procedure.

Dude, I'm talking about the "off menu" items. I always get 3 packs of spread on top of the extra spread I'm having them put on my burger.

They used to offer a "secret" 100x100 burger (a burger with a hundred patties and a hundred cheese slices). The max you can get now is a 4x4. Presumably they put an end to it because of the high risk of myocardial infarction or stroke that can result from consumption of such a meal.
