Actually, in high school our teacher (a brilliant astrophysics grad student) tried calculating the probability of systematically disassembling a piece of matter (e.g. a person) into atoms and then reconstituting it in like manner. I don't remember the details, but the tl;dnr was near "impossible."

I feel you.... 95% percent of my assignments at work are something along the lines of "find papers that agree with what we wrote in the manuscript, and to hell with the half of the literature that doesn't."

Hahaha, awesome. I started out as a physics major in undergrad, and in one of our seminar classes we were frequently given random assignments that entailed calculating ludicrous probabilities, such as "how many molecules from the body of Jesus Christ does the average person have incorporated into their being at any one time?"

Also, what film is that?

Hahaha. I love how in research there is such a pressure to get publications out or you basically won't get grant money so you just find papers to support whatever data you got together
